To add to the points already made by emekan, the d1, d2, d3 can also be used for engine braking. That is u can use it to downshift when u are going down the hill or nearing a red light and u don't won't to use ur brakes, just like in manual. If u are moving say in gear 4 and u shift to d2, ur car will downshift to gear 2, likewise ur car will downshift to gear 1 if u shift to d1. This is useful in slowing down the car in case of brake failure.

hey guys, I know have heard about the name Xaiomi but never really looked into it, all I cared about was Infinix and Tecno. I somehow came across a thread saying Tecno and Infinix have been reaping us of our hard earned money, sounds funny and decided to check the Xiaomi thread out. Am totally in awe with how many pages the thread at now and the way you guys are praising the phone. Am using a Infinix Hot4, got it for #49,950 (2gb Ram, 16gb ROM & 4000MAH battery) those are the most important things for me when getting a phone. also 4G enabled too. The phone is totally doing it for me but am willing to upgrade to Xiaomi if I can get something better for same price I got my hot4, 50k of course. please you guys should recommend something for me, I hate to be left behind. thanks!
