Bro am only talking from experience ooh. What have noticed is planting cucumber between December to early February when the cold is highest is a risk. Have always had problem with germination, bending fruits due to bad pollination because dem bee self no gree come outside con play with flower. It's just what have noticed bro..

lol be like say you be new comer for this cucumber biz bro. I used 80 bags of 25kg cow manure bro inside a hole then planted inside it. Planted 6,000 stand. The cold is mad. Majority are just waiting for the cold to go before planting.

Baba it's even the cucumber seed germination am talking about. I did direct planting and the seeds are coming out very slow one after the other like say dem be snail. I should have used seed tray the transplant.

. Cold will still make the fruits bend. Cucumber is a warm weather plant and extreme cold will still have effect on It. My thought tho.

For those thinking on how to go about preparing land...here is my own; first picture, I loose my old ridges with this hole. second picture, I break the solid part and smooth with this heavy stick. Third picture, I return the drip tape so that I can Mark manure point.

cucumber was sold here 10k yesterday... you know why? It is not doing fine on the field at the moment. White flies, downy mildew, curve fruit, bitter fruit and ripening quick on stand, are what this weather encourage. But am confident if you do all the basics and water very well, you will make huge profits too. Lot of us are not planting then..e get why!

nothing you can (weather) do about it, it everywhere. I will advise you to use insecticide that has Imidaclorid as ingredient, make sure you always spray your pesticide in the evening, and irrigate well. If you do this! No how you will make reasonable profit, though the yield will be low but fortunately for you price will/is okay.

. Thanks boss.. because the cold is making the small cucumber fruit bend. I had a lot of curved fruit and I didn't see any bee in the farm too. Ridges is better but during dry season, don't make it too high.

. I usually till the soil and then make depression inside where I put manure and plant. But I think making ridges will be better for the root system just like @ farmerakinloye6 said. But then my problem is the ridges or bed gets dry easily especially during the hot April may weather.
