What is the scam here?
If the governor paid according to what was presented, and your outgoing batch wasn't inclusive, why allow pressures from family and friends allow you defame the good gesture by the governor?
You should have ensured constituted authority paid you before his tenure elapsed.
We are not political guy.
We appreciate the good gesture of the Governor.
But as citizens of the state, we are all his children. We are also entitled to his good gesture.
It is our right once the bursary was approved.

PRESS RELEASE

(DENIAL OF BURSARY PAYMENT BY OYO STATE GOVERNMENT TO ALL QUALIFIED OYO STATE INDIGENES IN NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL)

BETTER CLARIFICATIONS AS TO THE PAYMENT OF BURSARY TO OYO STATE INDIGENES IN THE NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL AND EXPRESSION OF DISPLEASURE

We the Oyo State indigenes in Nigeria Law School(2018/2019) awaiting bar finals results and call to bar hereby inform the public of the following;

The Executive Governor of Oyo State awarded ₦500,000 bursary to "law students in law school who are of Oyo State origin” but only a few (120 or less) received the money out of over 320 entitled beneficiaries.

The Law School has two sets, the main set which resumed November last year, and the supplementary set (backlogs) that resumed May 2019.

We, the aggrieved applicants belong to the first set and immediately we resumed, we commenced the application for bursary in December 2018 by writing a letter of request to the Governor. We also re-applied when the newly elected Governor was sworn in.
Promptly,
we had been in talks with the bursary department of the scholarship board in the Ministry Of Education and we were assured the we would get paid, we were even advised to contact the Law School headquarters to send the comprehensive list confirming our names which we did and the law school management also obliged.

To our dismay, the mailers at the Governor's office failed to deliver the list as required, we requested for another as necessitated.

Shockingly in July 2019, we received a news that the governor had approved 500,000 Naira each for all Oyo State Indigenes in law school.
With great disappointment, it was later revealed that it was for the supplementary batch(backlogs)
unknown to us that the Head/Lead representative of the students for the supplementary set had met with the Governor.
He and his team met with the Governor and deceived the Governor that our set had graduated and they are the only existing Oyo State students in law school.

They also submitted a list of 120 students (illegally compiled by them which mostly consists of students from Leadcity University, Ibadan Oyo State) and sixty million Naira was subsequently approved for them coupled with an overwhelming publicity.

In prudent reaction to this, our representatives from the Lagos campus of Law school took necessary actions by going down to Ibadan to complain about the injustice and it was agreed that a more comprehensive list including the two sets should be requested from the law school and the bursary would be fairly shared to all beneficiaries.

The law school obliged them with the consolidated list but it was not consequential.

During the media chat to mark the 100 days of the Governor in office, the Governor admitted that he heard about our complaints.

It must be emphasized that the Executive Governor was misled and we opined that the deception is outrightly condemnable.

Last Thursday, the Government through the Ministry of Education disbursed the money to the “students” despite expressed concerns by the applicants coupled with denial of all students required to be paid in the supplementary set(not even all applicants in the supplementary set were captured in the payment)

With pains, we express our displeasure in respect of the payment of the bursary which was paid with the exclusion of all qualified beneficiaries who are entitled but denied.

The publicity that accompanied the decision of the Governor to pay 500,000 Naira to all Oyo State indigenes in Law School was so positive but unfortunately exercised in a very unfair manner.

Conclusively, we have been misrepresented in the eye of the public and the "controversial bursary" has caused distrust between us and our friends and families who got the information that all Oyo State indigenes in Law School got the bursary.

I concur with all of this and they are all facts about the private schools. Firms and institutions these days prefer to employ the services of a public or federal university graduate all because they believe that they go through rigorous academic experiences

I rep Unilorin.... they can frustrate your life. All these has really made me wise.
Better by far.
