Politics / 10 Government Policies, Destroy Nigeria's Economy by SUFFERInSMILIIN(m): 9:01am On Mar 22
1, Gdp revaluation .
Increasing the GDP of the country From about 80 billion Us dollar to 380 billion US dollar. This was one of the most destructive Economical policies cbn governor okunjo Wheeler. This was the beginning of inflation and devaluation of the naira. The same percentage which the GDP was increased by was the same percentage which the Naira devalued and the same percentage of increase in inflation.

2 bvn
Bvn was one of the most destructive policies by the Nigerian government. This policy led to people not having faith in the financial system and keeping their foreign currency out of the country. Most people believed that the government was after their Monday in fact some foreign embassies while writing emails to their citizens to remove their money from the nation. This is why today A lot of the countries currency is out of the country.

3 . Land border closure for goods.
Products were relatively cheap because they were coming through the land borders but by closing the land borders to goods. What this meant is the country had to borrow a huge amount of money to produce food example we needed 5 billion US dollar a year to feed the country with rice. But we end up borrowing more than 15 billion US dollar to plant rice and produce nothing in agriculture or rice farming. We could have saved four times less the money By importing the food Then producing nothing.

4. On stable cbn and government policy.
When did government starts interfering with people's personal businesses and making laws for people's personal businesses. A good example Banks telecommunication companies Industries and other private established businesses. This is a catastrophic move which does not give confidence to investment. Also the cbn trying to change his policies on a daily basis led to a lot of people removing their money from the banks in the country and businesses in the country and putting them abroad. When did government and cbn is trying to control everything from people sending money back home to people repatrating money people trying to invest in the country this it catastrophic move.

5. Religion and schools.
The religion crisis and schools crisis let the educational system in the country to collapse dramatically. Which a lot of religions given hope in schooling and education and building a class schools and education even in some west African countries. It is no more old news when you hear a Nigerian has built a A Class school in another African country because of the policies of the government in the country.

6. Ruger settlements.
Ruga said to men's have led to the collapse Of the agricultural sector in the nation Which actually zero investment In the agricultural sector a citizens are spent in billions of US Dollar in farming in countries like Benin Republic, Togo Republic, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, Namibia and Botswana which are now the for front of Agriculture.

7. Lack of investment in the oil and gas sector.
Massive corruption in the oil and gas sector has left companies and Industries not even thinking of investing anymore in this sector. Also white elephant projects have destroyed the oil and gas sector when some refineries which are over 20 billion dollars in debts cannot repay their debt in 30 years. Today for every barrel of oil you bring out from the ground there is massive death on it.

8. Leadership failure.
In any country in the world Nigeria has a leadership problem. When you go to even develop countries like America you find Nigerians are 138 immigrants in performance and achievements. The people do not vote for development.

9. Illiteracy.
You can find win Nigerians going to the best universities in the world at the end of the day we perform nothing. In fact the only thing win Nigerians do vote for her own criminal all over the world and suffer. Illiteracy has destroyed We Nigerian people more than anything in the world. And the illiteracy is why we have poor leaders all over the world. When somebody in a developed country tells you let's vote for ourselves and suffer suffering is no problem for us . Illiteracy has done the most damage to our country and her image abroad where any criminal we hope on the bandwagen and support him.

9. Lack of investment.
Lack of investment bought by the citizens And by foreign investors Have stagnated the economical growth of the nation.

10. You can add your own suggestions and ideas

I have traveled to many countries in the world and I am wondering if Nigerian women are good in bed at all, the reason for this is I see Nigerian guys running and killing themselves for foreign women and women form some African countries especially southern African countries East African countries.

Recently I saw a Nigerian guy which was saying that the women from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia are very sweet. I would like to know What is happening Would the Nigerian women That even their own men and foreign men Do not even look at them or work with them..

I have met a lot of Nigerian guys abroad especially in the UK euro and America praising and chasing black women from some African countries but not their own women.

Please can somebody help me out with answering this

Politics / Illiteracy destroying We Nigerians And our Country by SUFFERInSMILIIN(m): 10:58am On Mar 05
I have said this from beginning our problem in this country has never been leadership and bad government, But the problem is When Nigerian people We only follow a criminal On voting Day All over the world.

When I visited Canada and visited America you see my Nigerian people killing themselves for criminals which did nothing for them in Nigeria. Throwing themselves under a vehicle in a development country for their own criminal. In fact you hear my people say let's vote for ourselves and suffer in a development land. The unemployment situation of a people abroad is alarming and shocking it's gotten to the stage nobody wants to employ you if they find out you are a Nigerian they get rid of you as fast as they employed you

The leadership of our nation Is not to blame But the people enjoy suffering And the illiteracy Of my brothers is let vote for ourselves and start suffering.

How can somebody run away to a developed country and now wants to follow and vote for the person which did nothing for him back home.

We do not have a problem of leadership or corruption it is just illiteracy of the masses my country is the only country in the world you can find a professor and doctor home and Abroad which is an illiterate cannot achieve anything in life only telling the masses to follow their own criminal. The people are so illiterate that they can even vote for the west Nigerian president abroad. Next thing you hear them saying we have to do it ourselves

Nigerian people and their illiteracy is another thing look at history you will find that most African countries were Building 300 megawatts watt power stations in the 70s and 80s

How do you even pay someone such money without a contract stating his Social Insurance Number (SIN) or company registeration number for easy tracking and legal protection?

Many people in the UK and Canada prey on Nigerians and dupe many of them by selling bogus sponsorships to them.

If you want to relocate and have no skill, learn the skill first. Skills like plumbing, carpentry and masonry are well sought after. It is people who have no skill who rush after easy jobs like care jobs and social work.

Please, avoid immigration promos from Nigerians in Nigeria or abroad. Many of them are out to scam you. To identify a scam, propose to pay them over the course of a year after you relocate.

They'd most likely not agree. That is the red flag you need.

Nigerian people and their government are birds of the same feather Partners in Crime

They keep on following their own idiot and suffering the rest of their lives with their children

Nigeria's problem has never been government or leadership the problem of Nigeria is the Citizens are stupid very stupid. Nigerian people are so stupid that they think with their anus not their brain. You want a job in a white man's country and you are following a Nigerian when Nigerians are all criminals who have you seen in his life which is so stupid.

You run to another man's land and you want to follow your Idiot Brother this is what you get. Go to America euro Canada and United Kingdom and see what Nigeria's play in rule actually nothing but you want to follow yourself. Illiteracy is doing the same thing and wanting a different result.

You are living the nation because a Nigeria can do nothing for you, you want to go to another man's land and follow the same type of idiot which could do nothing for you. This is why our country cannot move forward in 1 billion years. You would have known that your man or your people could not do anything for you before running to another man's land to follow the same idiot

If you wanted to follow a Nigerian or vote for a Nigeria in another country why don't you just stay in Nigeria olodo

nairalanda1:

Because...and no, I am not here to defend anyone, nor am I political. Let's kick politics off the table.

1. Our forex needs were not as massive under Obasanjo as they are now.

2. In 2005, Obasanjo got debt relief. That, followed by years of favourable oil price increases till April 2014, meant that we had enough cash to defend the naira so to speak.

3.When the oil prices crashed, we were able to pay for buffering the naira for a while, using accumulated savings...that was from April 2014. The first sign of danger was when GEJ was borrowing to pay salaries.

4.By the time Buhari came in, oil prices were on the decline. The response of Buhari was to borrow, and when that was not feasible, to spend more and more of our forex reserves. Of course, oil kept on falling, because the good times were over.

Now back up a bit. If you have read Americanah by Adiche, you would have noted that in the early chapters, one of the main characters describes growing up under hard times.

From 1973-82, we had favourable oil prices. Thus we had forex to defend the naira...and naira was 1 to 1 with dollar. Following the crash of Sept 1982, we had falling oil prices. 1982-2004 was in many ways a bad time for Nigeria....as low oil revenues meant we was not prosperous. It was only periodic devaluation of the naira ...and periodic reduction in subsides that kept us afloat.

Keep in mind, Naira was falling all this while. From N1 to N1 In 1978, it went down to N180-1 dollar in 2014. That is was not worse was due to buffering, and that worsened our debt.

Now here we are. We can't borrow any more. Tinubu cannot borrow anymore, and IMF is waiting for him with harsh policies.

Whereas if we had diversified since independence...we might have had alternate sources of dollars by now. Not everything need come from oil.

Yes, we had 'stable currency back then' but to maintain it, we paid a great price. And it wasn't like the naira was strong then...it was very weak.

Local production is one of the main reasons Nigeria's Naira has collapsed , those days we will have let's say 5 billion US dollar to import rice and we import Rise for 5 billion US dollar. Today we borrow 30 billion US dollar to plant rice and we can only harvest 3 billion US dollar of rice .

The so-called local production and so called local manufacturing is just borrowing money nothing else 95% of the projects do not even last 5 years they borrow money use 90% of the money abroad to buy houses

Another big problem a high number of the country's money is outside the nation because of bad government policy and the change of cbn policy. The cbn and the government changes is policy true often which makes Nigerians have accounts outside the nation . I can tell you 90% of the country's wealth is in other nations.

The high level of illiteracy of Nigeria's home and Abroad does not make investors to even look at employing or investing in them.

Any of the policies we implement and making the countries economy and the Naira go down the toilet. Land border closure to goods all the west African countries surrounding Nigeria their money is now better.
