Politics › Re: Femi Otedola Sells Majority Stake In Geregu Power In $750 Million Deal by Sultannayef: 5:15am On Dec 30, 2025 |
truthbetold22: It is like all defenders of the tax laws have lost their sense of humanity and common sense.
For starters, nigeria is an extremely poor country so any taxation targeted at both the rich and poor will have more people fall below the poverty bracket. Nigerians can barely feed, cannot afford fuel and you think it is a good idea to increase taxes. As it stands; you already pay Vat, transfer charges and a lot of other indirect taxes running into billions every year.
Now this brings us to the crux of the matter: you are ruled by criminals and kleptocrats, thieves who do not even care what the people say or think anymore. Trillions are looted out of nigeria yearly by your leaders and civil servants which they invest and hide abroad. Now, the government has not shown goodwill by properly fighting corruption, by judiciously recovering monies from corrupt citizens and utilizing it for beneficial projects that are viable and visible. Look at Malami and the trillions he stole in 8 years. Do you know how many Malami’s and Emefiele’s we have in nigeria??
So rather than close the loop holes, show commitment to saving money, recovering money; plugging wastages and doing meaningful projects in a bid to assure the citizens that the government is capable of managing your additional taxes, you think the solution is to tax the people more to fund the hundreds of Malami’s and Yahaha Bellos in Nigeria.
You reside in a country where the presidents convoy is longer than the USA president. Where the convoy of local government chairmen is longer than the governor of California whose GDP is larger than Nigeria. You live in a country where the salary of a senator is larger than the Salary of the USA president and you think increased taxation on the citizens is the only way to raise revenue. Shame on you!!
Citizens are happy to pay tax then they are assured of services and goodwill. That is clearly not the case in Nigeria.
If you think additional taxation is the solution to Nigeria’s problem, you are a slowpoke. Thank you, you’re sensible! Anyone justifying the increased tax doesn't know what they are talking about. |

PressMyButton: E choke wailers . The problem with wailers is that they don't think for themselves, they have lend their thinking faculty to others to piss on it.
There's a difference between sales and production. PH refinery has commenced production but has not began bulk sales to markerters yet. I read the news they were masturbating to, even at that, the report says, the delay in selling fuel to markerters was as a result of calibrating the meters/ loading pumps.
Go and read that report again and tell me anywhere it was stated that PH refinery is not producing, I challenge anybody. Tell me where in the report you're masturbating to a marketer said production is not going on at the refinery. Enemies will continue to fail
After God, na Tinubu 💪

DomPerignon: Do you know that prior to Yaradua's intervention and passage of the 13% derivative to oil producing states , all SE states got far much higher as federal allocation than oil producing states in the SS?
Obasanjo proposed 25% to oil producing states but SE legislators in the NASS aligned with the core north to kill the bill while hiding under opposition to Obasanjo's third term agenda.
Have you heard any of their elected officials wade into the VAT issue?

Richtaiwo: Go to the airport, aircrafts are still landing and taking off every 15 to 20 minutes. And most of those aircrafts are filled to capacities. Where do you think those passengers get money from?
When that useless meat factory is established, you will see endless queues of Nigerians around there to buy factory meat. If you go to shoprite, you will see processed foods like rice with price tags. People are still buying them.
So forget it, in this country, the more you look, the more confused you get. This is not true! |

SmartPolician: Pastors preach the word of God; they don't come to the pulpit telling you they are perfect people. They are humans and go through the same struggles as you. The essence of listening to the pastor is to learn from the words coming out of his mouth...his lifestyle isn't guaranteed to reflect those words because he's human like you. Going to church has a lot of benefits. Apart from socialising it has zero benefits and infact can be counterproductive |
