The Madina District Court II in Greater Accra has sentenced two Nigerian nationals to prison for attempting to acquire Ghana Cards using false identities. The convicts, Ike Isaac, also known as Alex Kwesi Brown Appiah (20), and Emmanuel Innocent Egbe, also known as Innocent Emmanuel Kodom (24), were arrested after presenting forged documents and providing misleading information to officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
Following a full trial, presided over by Judge Susana Nyakotey, the two were found guilty of Providing False Information, contrary to Section 40(1)(a) of the National Identity Register Act, 2008 (Act 750), and Possessing Forged Documents, contrary to Section 166 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Each was sentenced to 12 months for giving false information and 13 months for possessing forged documents, but the terms will run concurrently. This ruling reinforces Ghana’s stance against identity fraud and document falsification.
The court ordered that the two convicts serve their sentences in a Ghanaian prison and be deported to Nigeria immediately afterward. They have been handed over to the Nsawam Prisons Authority to begin their jail terms. In a statement, the National Identification Authority (NIA) commended the Ghana Police Service, the CID unit attached to the NIA, and the Office of the Attorney-General for their support in securing the convictions. The NIA noted that the successful prosecution highlights its determination to protect the integrity of the Ghana Card registration system as the single credible source of identity for all lawful residents in Ghana.
The NIA warned that providing false information, impersonation, and using forged documents are serious criminal offences. It assured the public of continued collaboration with security and judicial agencies to detect, investigate, and prosecute those who undermine the system. The Authority also emphasized that the Ghana Card is more than an ID—it is central to government services, financial transactions, and national security. It urged all residents to help safeguard the system’s credibility as a shared national responsibility.
truthera: I don't blame you. Let all igbos learn from what is been done to Nnamdi Kanu today by zoo Nigeria. Would justice Omotosho disregard the constitution if it was a yoruba man in his dock? The answer is NO.... The injustice against igbos will continue, this is why igbos need to come together and demand their exit from Nigeria... This country is finished....
In as much as I stand with nnamdi KANU and I am a full fledged yoruba man, I'll like to advise U to stop being a tribal bigot and stop being tribalistic
jackals: Our relationship just ticked the 1yrs 3months mark. I told him at the beginning that I’d love for him to propose to me b4 we start getting intimate as most relationships built on intimacy don’t last. He agreed. But as we get along, we eventually started having sex even tho it’s not how I pictured it. But I had to because I didn’t want him to leave.
At the start of this year, I made a resolution to stop giving in to sex and see how much affections he has for me looking at the fact that he’s not even asked me to be his wife. It’s always promise here and there.
If he initiated it, I always find an excuse..and most times he convinced me and I’ll give in. I won’t lie I know it’s hard because he’s had to initiate a couple of time which I denied and he’ll mostly beg and assure me of his commitment to our relationship.
However, I noticed since the beginning of the month of May, he’s stopped showing concerns. When he asked And I said no to sex, he will just say “ohh okay” and then sleep if it’s night time or pick his phone and off to gym. Nowadays he doesn’t even initiate anything nor ask for it. I asked him if he’s okay and he told me “he’s having some heavy back pain due to his recent workout routines” but I know he’s lying. He’s always like sex even after workout.
My intuition says he’s cheating and my friend confirmed same since her last relationship also ended the same way.
Tbh, I’d just stop getting worried about this and stop asking him since he’s decided to keep mute.
We need to hear from the guy before the council of elders will know what to say
gidigbam1: Why didn't you say Otti is only doing his work? You come here and praise Otti who hasn't done 3% of what Wike has done in 2 yrs in FCT, but are quick to say he's doing his work. Why didn't all the previous FCT Ministers also do their work? Wike is very outstanding and if he continues at this rate, Abuja could make it to the top 20 most beautiful cities in the world.
I live in Lagos and work in Abuja, and I can tell you that the work Fashola, Ambode, and Sanwo Olu did in Lagos combined together is not up to a quater of the projects Wike delivered in FCT in less than 2 years.
Only those who've lived in both cities for years and have traveled to both cities frequently recently can relate.
He wasn't the person that awarded the contact or paid the contractor sir. He's only doing his duty and deserves no single accolade.
virginprincess: Werey man Why didn't he at least proposed to her so she would know he is serious, most men think women are the same with them biologically, they don't know that women clock tick faster. Now, he is pained because another man sharply did what he couldn't do in three years. My own is that he should give her time to return the money he use to set her up instead of collecting the whole shop 😒😒
I am not disappointed cos majority of you are always looking for who to feast on
Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Sowore described Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, and President Bola Tinubu as “the three most dangerous persons in Nigeria.”
He criticized the declaration of emergency, calling it an attempt to sacrifice the entire state structure.
“The declaration of emergency was purely an attempt to sacrifice an entire state structure — not the first, but one of the first that is more brazen. In this case, they want Wike to control one of Nigeria’s richest states, Rivers,” Sowore said.
Sowore further explained the situation, stating that everything had been leading to this moment since Siminalayi Fubara was appointed as governor.
“So everything has been pointing to that process ever since Fubara was appointed—or selected, whichever way you want to put it,” he added.
According to SaharaReporters, he alleged that Wike had to involve President Tinubu in order to take control of the state from Fubara.
“It got to a point where Wike had to reach Tinubu, who is his principal in this case, to move in and take the state from Fubara so they can have it for themselves. That’s what they executed,” Sowore remarked.
Sowore also pointed out the roles of the three individuals—Wike, Akpabio, and Tinubu—in this political maneuvering.
“There are three individuals we must watch out for: the FCT Minister, that is Nyesom Wike; the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; and Nigeria’s president himself, Bola Tinubu. These are guys that are very dangerous. They are dangerous because they have lived a life of crime and impunity — whichever way you want to call it — and got away with it,” Sowore said.
He claimed that these figures had risen to power through criminality without facing repercussions.
“The reason why these guys are different from every dangerous person you have ever met in your life is that they have risen through the ranks of crime and impunity and gotten to the top without consequences. That’s what you are seeing them doing now,” he added.
Sowore also predicted that the Nigerian National Assembly would support the state of emergency.
“This morning, I was invited to a media interview by Channels TV, and I did predict that the Nigerian National Assembly would not do anything — they would endorse Bola Tinubu’s state of emergency. They are all in on this, and that’s why Nigerians must understand that there is no way out. They gang up against us; we must gang up against them too,” Sowore concluded.
