UPN will work for Jonathan’s re-election -Fasehun JANUARY 9, 2015 BY NAN The Unity Party of Nigeria on Friday adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the February 14 election. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the adoption was announced at its first National Convention to elect new officers, which was held in Lagos. NAN recalls that controversy had trailed the UPN leadership, but Dr Frederick Fasehun, who is the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, emerged the party’s National Chairman at the convention. Speaking after the ratification of the new executive committee by members of the party from across the nation, Fasehun said the UPN was a new party and needed time to take roots in all parts of the country. He said, “We are still a young party and that is why we are not fielding a presidential candidate. “We have asked our members who we are to support. We felt their pulse and it was moving in a particular direction. “Allowing President Jonathan to continue in office for another four-year term will allow for the maturation of his infrastructural and socio-economic programmes. “It will also guarantee continuity in development policies which a new government may likely abort. “We are not confused about those we know that do not deserve our votes and our precious support. “Therefore, the UPN will support Jonathan in next month’s election. We have endorsed him as our candidate. The national convention hereby resolves that all UPN structures and members nationwide will work for Jonathan.” He lamented that Nigerian politics had become peopled by politicians without ideals or ideology. “That informs why a politician can be in the ruling party in one minute and suddenly cross-carpets to the opposition party in the next minute and no one would see anything wrong with it. ” We cannot afford to run the country this way and UPN has come to change the game,” he said. According to him, the party will devote its energy to playing a people-driven politics, ignite the confidence of citizens and uphold the sanctity of the general elections. NAN reports that Alhaji Yuusul Ariyo emerged as National Secretary; Mr Okey Nwanneri, National Treasurer and Niyi Ajewole as the National Legal Adviser among others. Also, Mrs Modupe Onitiri-Abiola, the wife of the late Chief MKO Abiola, was announced as the party’s governorship candidate for Lagos State. http://www.punchng.com/news/upn-will-work-for-jonathans-re-election-fasehun/ |

Does anyone have an idea about the increase in the price of cement from 1300 to 1800 (though we have never got at 1000 following the announcement of 1000 late November 2014)? |
Like a ban from 'dollarland' would remove food from some people's table. SMH |

The spokesperson said JOOBS on the other hand, would create opportunities for the unemployed youths nationwide to be engaged meaningfully to enhance their lives. Yakzum said, “We have constituted a committee charged with the responsibility of creating job opportunities for youth supporters of the Muhammadu Buhari/ Prof Yemi Osinbajo ticket.” She said those targeted were secondary school leavers, retrenched workers, pensioners, physically challenged persons, and the internally displaced with valid voter card. http://www.punchng.com/news/ogbe-leads-n5bn-yam-sales-for-buhari/ |

Here is my own point: was an affidavit filed immediately in 2011 or recently? If an affidavit was filed in 2011 when the incident occured, it is understandable; but if it has just been recently filed, then NA REALLY STORY FOR THE gods O |

This happened last week. A school daughter to my friend's wife who just returned from the US told her(my friend's wife) that her spiritual father in one of the white garment churches has just returned from 'ori-oke' and that she (my friend's wife) can call him for prayers and some spiritual revelations about her life. She called the 'prophet' and the vision he saw for her is 'marital promise and fail'. My friend's wife was shocked because she is a happily married woman with a cute baby. In the process of the prophet delivering the prophesy, her baby cried (which spoilt the show, otherwise she would still have heard more revelations) Immediately the prophet heard the cry of a baby, he asked: 'Is that your baby?' And immediately, the story changed! When she told us, we were just surprised. These 'men of God enh' This is a prophet that my friend's wife school daughter rely all her life on. |

Just wondering how fast land appreciates around here. I got my plot here in 2010 for 400k in 2010 and today it is almost 2m (by Loral International School). In 2012, my friend and I got 4 acres for 6m- close to the Ogun/China Free trade zone (which includes cost of survey and deed of assignment); that's 250k per plot and today a plot is 1.2m. The entire Agbara/ Igbesa axis is' infested' with industries - Nestle, GSK, Fruity & Nutty, Procter & Gamble, Pharma Deko, Beta Glass, Maltex, Evans, AJE, Unilever, Beloxxi, Avantis, Lotus, Ninpak, GZI, China/Ogun Free Trade Zone, Viju, Honeywell and a host of others. With just a bridge, the igbesa community can be directly linked to Igando area of Lagos. The availability of natural gas around here and maybe the 'low' manufacturing tax in Ogun are seriously attracting investors to this area. With the congestion around Lagos and with the proximity of the area to Lagos, I think it will be nice to consider getting properties here. Once you get and secure it, sooner you'll smile to the bank. I also think warehousing will be viable if there's fund to put it up. Just think I should share this with Nairalanders. The future is bright! |
