Turn ur Invisible Teacher to page 34 no. 23. It says:
When 'used to' is used, the activity was in the past; no more. The action describe is in the past and no more because of the clause "Gone are the days" nd again " nd that does not sound habitual or consistent. Many people fail JAMB simply because they always think this "should be" instead of "this is". I rest my case.
Actually you do have a point but before you rest your case if you don't mind, please turn to page 69, you will see the question and the answer.
EducationRe: 2015/2016 Utme And Admission Process by Sunmax01(m): 5:47pm On Jan 03, 2015
starlingleanets:
This is not habitual bro- the sentence restructured means "Before He do enjoy his patronage but no more again" That means its referring to an action in the past. And "will" denotes future, its past form "would" is used when u made an assumption e.g "IF He came i would meet him" Since IF is absent there is no assumption in the sentence,so will and would is out already. The answer is "Used to" meaning He did b4 but no longer again.
Ok I quite agree with you. Turn your "Invisible teacher" to page 65 and you would see that -will- functions as consistent action. If you look at the question closely you would see that the question is expressing an action that is habitual or consistent, and since it is in pass form, we will have to use the pst tense of will which is -would-.

It would be nice if you could give your own answers, and point out the one we didn't get. That's what makes learning interesting.
starlingleanets:
I got it all bro u can bring out the Law of concord nd lets beat it to it.
Actually the two of you missed question 4. Gone are the days he ...... Enjoy patronage. A)would b)will c) used to d) could
solution
will is used for habitual action e.g the girl will come here and cry and cry and cry(means it is her habit). However notice from the tone of the question "gone are the days..." so, will should change to would.
Would is the answer

Happy new year to you all. I pray this new year brings us joy and Admission. But we need to remember that as we start this new year God need to be the our all in all. After education we proceed to work then marriage. After that we know that all humans die(some exception), but no one knows when he/she will die so we need to prepare our self for ETERNITY cus life is too short to waste it on vanity. Get closer to God this year and be conscious of eternity always. Only Jesus can take one to heaven, give your life to Him if you haven't and if you have done that, hold one till the end. And all your heart desire shall be met.
Happy New year fellow nairalanders
