PoliticsThe Evil Called Radio Biafra, By Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu by Super1Star(op): 10:00pm On Jul 02, 2015
Recently in Nnewi, I was in a commercial bus and the conductor was exchanging words with a passenger who had complained that the bus was over speeding. The angry passenger warned the driver that her family would not spare him if she gets injured. In response, the conductor started barking at the young lady and warned her never to expect any help from the zoo legal institutions. Curious, I asked the conductor what he meant by ‘zoo institutions’ and he advised me to tune in to Radio Biafra 102.1 FM at night. Before then, I had heard about the pirate radio station but didn’t know it has commenced transmission on the frequency modulated band. That night, I decided to tune in to the station, and immediately I hit the frequency, I heard the presenter, who addresses himself as Nnamdi Kanu (also, Director), shouting on a caller for addressing Buhari as Nigeria’s president. “Stupid black monkey and baboon, will you end this call if you don’t recognise Buhari as a pedophile, a child rapist and terrorist president of the zoo.” Instantly I recalled my conversation with the bus conductor and understood that the zoo he was talking about is Nigeria, an evil slang he must have learnt from the pirate station presenter, Nnamdi Kanu.

The recent protest of market men and women in Onitsha over the alleged transfer of Boko Haram prisoners to Anambra State was catalysed by a broadcast of the pirate station a day before the protest, in which it alleged that President Buhari has ordered the massive transfer of detained Boko Haram fighters to Anambra State to kill many Igbos.

Another thing I observed on that first day of listening to the station was the overwhelming quantity of falsehoods it propagates. Some of the falsehoods include the continuous aerial bombing of Igbos in Calabar by forces of the Nigerian government and the ordering of joint security forces in Chad to kill Igbos by President Muhammadu Buhari, after his visit to the country.

Subsequent listening to the station revealed it as having agents who regularly call during its live interactive programmes to disseminate false stories. It is really sad that some misinformed people take the falsehoods of the pirate radio station seriously.

…anyone who means well for his brothers and sisters cannot afford to promote violence and bloodshed in his homeland, which if allowed will definitely lead to the massive loss of lives and property. It also baffles me how a person who claims to love his brothers and sisters will come on air and make careless statements that can lead to the destruction of the businesses and livelihoods, shops and property of Igbos outside Igboland. Is he on drugs or insane?

The alarming thing about Radio Biafra is that it is fast gathering the support of less educated Igbos, such as commercial motorcyclists, bus drivers and conductors, as well as local market men and women, who can be easily deceived by the station’s falsehoods. If the station is not urgently checked it can endanger the peace and security of Igbo land and Nigeria in general.

Igbos should note that the greatest enemy they have now is Nnamdi Kanu, who stays far away in well secured London, and delights in inciting his people towards bloodshed, against their fellow compatriots, and the Nigerian state. No sane individual can afford to promote hatred between his brothers and other compatriots in the fundamentally interlinked global village that we live in today. Also, anyone who means well for his brothers and sisters cannot afford to activate violence and bloodshed in his homeland, which if allowed will definitely lead to the massive loss of lives and property. It also baffles me how a person who claims to love his brothers and sisters will come on air and make careless statements that can lead to the destruction of the businesses and livelihoods, shops and property of Igbos outside Igboland. Is he on drugs or insane?

The federal government and the international community should note that the pirate Radio Biafra is a pending disaster and if urgent measures are not taken to end its activities, it can metamorphose into the media wing of a terrorising group…

It is no longer news that Igbos are mostly international business men and women, so a person like Nnamdi Kanu and Radio Biafra advocating for the destruction of Igbo property abroad and the relocation of all Igbos to Igbo land in this era of a global village must be confused. If Nnamdi Kanu believes that no one can make it and prosper outside Igbo land, what is he doing in London? Why can’t he come back to his home state, Abia to ‘progress’? It is unfortunate that some misinformed Igbos are even donating money to him. What a fraud! It is quite clear that the fraudster is fast exploiting misinformed fellows to his benefit. It is even funny that he has disowned all Igbo socio-cultural organisations and appointed himself commander-in-chief. The manner at which he abuses fellow Igbos and blacks, who he regularly calls “black monkeys and baboons”, show that he is nothing other than a racist; if other leaders abuse their followers in such manner, then what sort of leadership will that be?

Igbos should note that Nigeria has come to stay, so instead of wasting their time and energy in a wild goose dream of secession, they should support other nationalities and groups in building a stronger, more united and better Nigeria.

The federal government and the international community should note that the pirate Radio Biafra is a pending disaster and if urgent measures are not taken to end its activities, it can metamorphose into the media wing of a terrorising group sharing an ideology of hatred and bloodshed with the Islamic State (IS).

Igbos should note that Nigeria has come to stay, so instead of wasting their time and energy in a wild goose dream of secession, they should support other nationalities and groups in building a stronger, more united and better Nigeria. The federal government and the international community should also make necessary efforts to track down, arrest and prosecute the director of the pirate radio station, Nnamdi Kanu, for inciting violence, bloodshed and attempting a crime against humanity.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

PoliticsInvestors Raise 500m Euros For Calabar Sea Port Project by Super1Star(op): 1:07pm On Jul 02, 2015
A consortium, Broad Spectrum Industrial Services, has raised 500 million Euros for the financing of the proposed Calabar Deep Seaport.

Observers believe the move signalled a firm commitment to the signature projects initiated by the Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade.

Other signature projects which attracted the interest of Broad Spectrum include the dual carriage super highway, modular refinery, cement factory, agriculture, among others.

Speaking during a presentation at Governor’s Conference Room in Calabar on Tuesday, Managing Director /Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Michael Havre said that the figure neither represented a loan nor a grant but purely that of project financing.

According to him, the project which would be executed on Public Private Partnership arrangement required only a 25 per cent bank guarantee from the state government.

Havre disclosed that a leading Nigerian bank had already agreed to look into the possibility of issuing the guarantee on behalf of Cross River.

According to him: “I have spoken this morning (yesterday) to one of the banks, and it has agreed to issue a guarantee on your behalf, and from the details of what we have analysed, your involvement is going to be very minimal.”

Continuing, the Broad Spectrum boss said: “I don’t need your money, what I just need you to do is get to your bank and give us a bank guarantee, and we are good to go and that is why we are here. We are here to work with you to bring progress to Cross River.”

An excited Governor Ayade also clarified that the 500 million Euros was not a loan, just as he maintained that Cross River State was not going to incur any debts arising from the funding of the signature projects.

Similarly, Governor Ayade yesterday revealled that the state had concluded plan to set up a hydro power plants that would generate about 90 megawatt of electricity.

The governor who disclosed this when he received some investors from China in his office in Calabar, hinted that the Kwa Falls was projected to generate 30mw, Agbokim 30mw while the canalisation and  channelisation from either Ikom, Calabar and Itigidi Rivers would generate 30mw, bringing the total output to 90mw.

His words: “We are happy because we understand the power generation mechanics and how it works. A lot of states that invested in gas turbines today have their hands burnt, because it is always very difficult to sustain the turbines. The huge gas supply per day at high running cost makes turbines more expensive to operate.

“So if we go hydro, the water is free. It is obvious that we are taking the right path, and we are lucky to have this team which is tested and proven with long history of successes as experts in the field.

“As a people and a state who understands the difficulty of gas powered turbines, we as a state decided to develop a culture that will insist on hydropower. The decision for hydro is specific. In spite of the fact that it has high cost of initial investment, the downstream over time will kneel out the initial cost operational cost and therefore, from longevity operational efficiency and sustainability, it is imperative that we have to go for hydro, more so we are a coastal state.”

He added: “Our thinking is that since we have opportunity to have about three locations where we can generate hydroelectricity, our requirement as a state is little. From our projections we shall be generating 90mw at the three locations, utilising only 30 as a state and selling out the remaining 60mw to the Federal Government.”

‎In his remark, the Managing Director, Power China Huadong Engineering Corporation, Rao Jiangiang, stated: “With the warm reception accorded us by the state government and the people, we will swing into action by visiting the proposed sites to complete feasibility studies so as to actualise the dream in the shortest possible time.” He solicited collaboration from all the stakeholders.

Dunno, buh sincerely do not think so. Rather they'll use vital statistics which, of course, is made frm d state agencies som of which ll jst sit down in an office & enter anything they want.
That can be done with MDG report, not a University based research. Most especially when it is coming from reputable University like Oxford.

The MDG reports are usually filed by the state officers to the MDG headquarters in Abuja, for onward transmission to the relevant UN Agencies. This is much easier to manipulate, because all the state officers will want to give a good report, thereby dumping the reality.

GOAL 2: ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL PRIMARY
EDUCATION
Target 2A: Ensure that, by 2015, children
everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be
able to complete a full course of primary
schooling.
Indicator 2.1: Net enrolment in primary
education.
In 2014, The states with very high
attendance ratios included Anambra (94%)
, Delta (92.80), Imo (90.7), Lagos (92),
Ondo (92.4), Osun (91.6), Edo (91.0), Ekiti
(93.6) and FTC (94.1) while the least were
Bauchi (29.9), Sokoto (24.80), Yobe
(23.7), Zamfara (37.80).
At the national level, the net attendance
ratio was 61% in 2008 and it increased to
71% in 2012. In 2014, there was a
shortfall of 2.3% and the net attendance
for 2014 thus dropped to 68.7%. When
classified by sectors, net attendance in
the urban (84.3%) was much higher than
in the rural areas (62.2%). Across the
geopolitical zones, it was very
encouraging in the South East (90.5%),
South South (88.1%), South West (87%)
and North Central (80.2%). But in the
North West (50.5%) and particularly North
East (42.5%) net attendance was not
impressive.
Although 100% attendance is expected,
the result shows that Nigeria is on track.
Indicator 2.2: Primay Six Completion Rate
Nationally completion rate according to
fig. 2.2 in 2004 was 82%. It increased to
87.7% in 2012 and dropped to 74.0 in
2014. Within the 2014, the completion
rate was higher in the urban (84.4%)
when compared with the rural (69.7). In
the zones, completion rate was highest in
South East (98.7%) zone, followed by
South West (94.1%). Primary six
completion rate was poorest in the North
East (49.5%) zone. Nigeria is also on
track.

OBJ banned importation of fruit juices into the country and all of a sudden companies started producing them in Nigeria, creating employment and saving the nation's FX. The same happened in the Cement industry. It is just the usual bush baby whinin g tendencies of igbos that made the banning of importation of cement to look as if, it was targeted towards Ibeto?
