Damn. I just lost a quite detailed response I was typing as my UC browser closed. For kano, you know that Hausa people have a long history of taxation so it is not new to them. That was one of the reasons the british liked them as they made the work easier. However for state that is commercial and almost lagos's population, I don't think it is impressive much.

As relatively unimpressive as Kano stat is, it is still greatly better than most states, despite all the noise that all Northern States are not viable.

Whether you are the right person or the wrong person, I do not care. I have passed my message on this thread. Who ever comes across it should know our stand. Stop castigating Biafrans, some of us lost precious relatives to that war and if you guys want to start the war again, some of us will dedicate all we have in vengeance for our loved lost ones.

Ok I now understand where you are coming from. You are just a frustrated fellow.

Bringing the war on yourself will just lead more of your precious ones to the early graves.

Let’s look at this sharing of money at the federal level for instance. Why should some states get more than the others, are we not all states?

MAdam you did not try at all with this statement.

Some states are more naturally endowed than others and some State are lazier than others.

In this modern day, natural endowment count for nothing if the States can really apply themselves to governance. Technology, Pharmaceuticals/Medical, IT etc can generate more than what natural resources will generate forsme states.

What natural resources does Germany have?

Go and sit down my friend. Have you seen how oil wells look like ? Have you ever changed your roofs every 5 years and see the impact of acid rain caused by gas flaring ? For me it is not news, it is not story, it is an experience.so when next you internet warriors want to call out war remember that some of us live at the epicenter of this marginalization and we have been patient. But if the oil wells shared amongst Northerners and SouthWesterners is what swells your ranks, then look at Aleppo in Syria. it can happen to any city in Nigeria and we will start all over. Lets see which country will be rebuilt faster. Cos if there is another war, I am sure Nigeria will not win, Biafra has nothing to loose but to gain, cos Oil will rebuild Biafra but Nigeria will have no access to oil anymore.

Preach peace not war.

Are you sure you quoted the right person or did a bolt just got missing in your cranium?

What are you saying? When did the South West establish its own Customs board? The money Customs generate from import and export duties at the land borders in Lagos, Ogun and Oyo goes straight to the federation account in Abuja. The case would have been the reverse if true fiscal federalism is being practised in Ngeria. I wish you goodluck in your quest for biafra, I also cannot wait for an independent and seperate Yoruba Nation.
With true Fiscal Federalism, SW will be generating nothing less than type 3 or 4 of what is presently obtainable, even if Igbos take all their importations to Onne or Ibaka Seaport.

Certainly. North will still keep importing through the SW.

Lagos IGR was very low then but the tax base was already there and was created during the 60's and 70's. What Tinubu did was just to tax an already made base. Tax specialists call it "Low-hanging fruits"

Based on this, there is every possibility that the sleeping states in IGR collections too have Low-Hanging fruits they have not tapped into?

Ogun's IGR does not show any willigness of Ogun people to contribute to their state. The IGR in Ogun is gotten mainly from the industries there and not from Ogun "Citizens". Most of the industries there are foreign or non-indigene owned. I thought you and FK081 had this argument the other day?

Your argument is still lame because you did not give me the proportion of the IGR that came from citizens and the one that came from the industries.

If i chose to even agree with you that Industries contributed 99.9% to Ogun State IGR, is that not an indication of the peaceful nature of the citizen and the creation of investment friendly environment by the people and the Govt of the State.

But, what is responsible for Kano's performance?

Lagos became and lasted as the FCT when Nigeria had come of age and was already on a sure footing. Calabar and Lokoja were Capitals in the beginning of the 20th century when many Nigerian tribes were still walking half-naked, people had not started migrating and people did not know much about business so there is no way they can be like Lagos.

You are absolutely right and I agree with you.

What was Lagos IGR as at 1991? As at 1999, it was less than 300m per month.

Standing on being a Federal Capital is defective except you can explain same for Calabar and Lokoja.

Listen, am not here to argue about tribes and property with you. How many shipping companies will ship your container to calabar port? They will never do that if not Lagos then benin republic. Good luck finding an international flight that will take you to port harcourt or calabar. The last time I checked most embassies are in Lagos. There is no way anyone from east or south south can travel abroad with passing through lagos even though they wish to.

Yes the last time Lagos was capital is 25 years ago, I can still point out the the goodwill and physical presence federal left in Lagos is still present today.

The same Embassies, Int'l Sea and Airports, goodwill and physicalFederal presence that are in Kano and Ogun State too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why every Igbo men should believed that oil alone is not why Hausa & Yoruba is kicking against biafra. My brother I can clearly tell u that the land borders in those south west state was where their igr is coming from, who are those patronizing those borders ? The biafrans. The igr of Lagos is coming from no other place than import duties in fact import duties is contributing to 90% of Lagos igr, (both lands and sea borders). And who are those paying this duties? The biafrans. This is why the FG is discouraging any other sea port that will mount as challenge to Lagos port.

When they said biafra is landlocked this is what they mean, the land and sea borders is bringing more Igr than anything else and biafrans are the tools. Think my biafra brothers

Another Semi Illiterate on the loose.

Import Duties go to FG -- whether Air, Land or Sea.

Some people have come again with chest-beating later they will say Igbo people are chest beaters. See them claiming "good leadership" and "self-sustainability"
First and foremost, Lagos is Nigeria's commercial capital and has been like that since the 60's or 70's during military rule so the IGR will naturally be high naturally. All ethnic groups have invested heavily in Lagos and not the South-west indigenes only. Ogun's rise is known even to children as a result of the congestion of Lagos which prompted factories to go to the nearest available location. So your claim of South west leadership pursuing development more than their other counterparts is hogwash. We all can see the state of infrastructure in Ogun for instance which reflects msdiocre leadership.
Secondly IGR is not the sole measure of economic health alone; we have poverty index, GDP figures, GDP per capita index etc. Of this IGR should be the lowest actually because in a country like Nigeria where most state revenue comes from the centre states don't take IGR really serious and might shelve internal taxation for political support from companies and individuals(taxes are some of the more contentious issues in a country and people detest it). In 2014, Enugu generated about 20 billion Naira in taxes while Ogun generated about 17 billion Naira. Can we say that because of these figures Enugu's economy was bigger than that of Ogun in 2014? No! and to say otherwise will be madness as Ogun was already one of the most industrialized states in Nigeria as far back as 2011 or even earlier. So IGR is not a sole determinant of the health of a state's economy. One of the reasons while IGR of eastern states is low is because of the unwilligness by the state governments to collect taxes from indigenous business men whom we see as "our sons" as in contrast to Ogun where the firms there are mostly non-indigenous and established thus taxing them to the fullest won't hurt the government's electoral chances.

IGR shows viability of a State.

It shows the commitment of the citizens of the State towards the self-sustenance of their state.

It is an indicator of willigness of the citizens of the state to promote good governance and accountability.

Bulk of the IGR from the SW is from Oil companies - IOCs and LOCs whose installations are at SS with Headquarters in Lagos.

Also note that there is no point castigating Biafrans as SE people alone. Biafra encompasses SE/SS, so if this statistics was to make nonsense of the hen that lays the golden eggs then you are mistaken. Take away the Taxes paid by LOCs and IOCs to Lagos State then you will figure out the strengths of each zones.

I see you guys are so ignorant of Biafran loyalty in the SS.

We are one people. No propaganda penetrates to the creeks. We know where our loyalty lies when it comes to skirmishes. The Feds have killed Isaac Boro, Ken Saro Wiwa, Dele Giwa etc, do not think our loyalty can be purchased by propaganda.

So IOC HQs are also located in Kano abi?

Keep deceiving yourself, rather than facing the obvious.

I don't like to come across as Biafra agitator. Cause my business is in Lagos. But you need to remember that Lagos is a coastal town, with the biggest and most functional port in Nigeria. There is no way any state can exceed them in revenue. All coastal towns in the world is a magnet for investment and immigration. Porthacourt and calabar are also coastal towns you will say, but Lago was the country's capital for the longest period of time and diplomatic and infrastructural development were made there to compete with world standard.

Lagos stopped being a Capital over 25years ago (a Quarter of a Century ago) and the state has been collecting almost same FAAC allocations (if not lesser) than most State in those number of years.

Look for another reason.

Meanwhile Calabar and Lokoja are former Federal Capital too.

Fulanis are free to walk from Kaura Namoda into the Atlantic Ocean, but the constitution did not give such right to their cattle, except they want to tell sane people they are equal to their cattle.

Criminal Herdmen have turned themselves to blood thirsty demons and blood sucking vampires, leaving trails of sorrow tears and blood anywhere they step.

What exactly is the premise of your arguments before the jump to conclusions? FYI Enugu city is different from other towns in Enugu. So to base my point on what you wrote then I have to also point out that the tip of Enugu state extends to Benue state and Kogi state . So your statement based on that is fallacious.
And I still maintain my previous premise that as you go further east and north the revenue will continue on it downward trail.

Based on your argument, what is the distance of Calabar from Lagos (739.1km) and Enugu to Lagos (560,5km) and what is the IGR of Cross River and Enugu States? 14.7bn against 14.2bn

What is the distance of Kano to Lagos (1,141km) and Enugu to Lagos (560.5km) and what is the IGR of Kano and Enugu States? 20bn against 14bn.

Your argument lack basis. Kano State and Cross River are simply more viable than Enugu and SW is more viable than SE.

Now you are talking.
Explain the first sentence please. Farther as in how cos lagos to PH is 447km while Lagos to Enugu is 461 km.
And Kano is not in the desert. Yobe state is especially Potiskum and Nguru axis.

Is PH only Rivers. Do you know how far Bonny is to PH. I repeat Rivers Is farther away from Lagos than Enugu.

Stating Kano is in a desert is a figurative expression to show it is in the far North, you slow poke.

You were arguing on distance to Lagos and I was showing your argument does not have any basis.

The revenue generation tilts more to the southwest cos of the presence of the nation's seaports. Establish ports in the SS and see all this stats balancing.
The proximity of businesses close to ports is a major factor here. Check the revenues of those farther from the seaports and you'll understand perfectly.
