Anything can happen in this time of ‘change’. It sounded like a joke when rapper Kanye West declared that he wants to run for the office of US president in 2020 last year. Another famous celebrity, ‘Commando’ actor Arnold Schwarzenegger served two terms as the 38th Governor of California from 2003 until 2011. We’ve seen Nollywood stars like Desmond Ellioit, Bob Manuel, Nkiru Silvanus and Hilda Dakubo hold political offices in the country. So why shouldn’t any of 2face, Wizkid, or D’banj run for president in the foreseeable future?

The U.S Presidential election debate that will hold tonight between candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will be the most viewed presidential debate in history with some commentators forecasting Super Bowl-sized viewership of around 100 million Americans. The debate will be live, unscripted and unpredictable and is expected to break the record TV audience of 80 million for the 1980 Presidential debate between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. The predicted high viewing figures is as a result of the the extraordinary nature of the campaign, featuring Donald Trump, the outspoken Billionaire businessman and former reality TV star, competing for the White House with Hillary Clinton, the former U.S. secretary of state and first woman to run for the White House. "My prediction is a 100 million audience, and maybe more," said Paul Levinson, a communications professor at New York's Fordham University and author of "McLuhan in an Age of Social Media." "The Super Bowl shows that when there is something that is really special, something that can command people's interest, something you want to see on a big screen, television has this enormous power and reach," Levinson said. American motivational speaker, anti-bullying activist and author, Lizzie Velasquez was dubbed the 'World's Ugliest Woman" in a video posted on YouTube when she was 17. She has a rare congenital disease which among other symptoms, prevents her from accumulating body fat. The condition resulted in bullying during her childhood and early youth. The 27-year-old from Austin, Texas, who has spoken out against bullying, was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome by the Baylor College of Medicine. She has zero percent body fat and is medically unable to gain weight. Additionally, she is blind in in her right eye and vision-impaired in her left eye. Doctors told her parents, at birth that she would never speak or walk. The doctors were wrong. In fact, at 27, she does both professionally. HuffPost described her as a "seasoned motivational speaker and a "self-professed pacer" while she speaks on stage" "There were many times where I was so frustrated and angry. I didn’t know who to blame or who to get angry at. I made every birthday wish, I lit every candle at church and did every prayer before bed. I said ‘God, please take this all away from me. Please make me normal," Velasquez told the crowd during one of her speaking engagements last year. Velasquez has written two books, 'Be Beautiful, Be You and 'Choosing Happiness' directed towards teenagers, which share personal stories from her life and offer advice and talks about obstacles she has faced in her life and how she's learned the importance of choosing to be happy when it's all too easy to give up. Growing up in Texas, Velasquez was teased, gawked at or sometimes downright ignored. She remembers her first day of kindergarten and noticing for the first time in her life that other kids were scared of her. She went home and asked her parents what was wrong with her. "I credit my parents’ answer with why I’m able to do what I do today," she said to HuffPost. When I asked them what was wrong with me they said there’s nothing wrong with you. The only difference is that you’re smaller than the other kids. They told me we are going to love you and support you and help you reach every dream you have," she added. Her parents treated her like everyone else. But the world did not. Velasquez remembers going to amusement parks and feeling like an attraction. Groups of adults would stop mid-conversation and stare at her. She refused to go to water parks because she couldn’t stand to be in a bathing suit in public. A documentary film based on her life which is entitled A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story, premiered at SXSW last year and is set to premiere on Lifetime on October 17th, 2016. The optimistic young woman took to Instagram five days ago to write about the birth of the documentary. "I still remember the day we hung up giant post it notes on a wall and brainstormed what would be needed to bring @abraveheartfilm life. I remember our cheers of happiness as each of you gave so generously of your time and money to help our team. I remember the day we realized this project was so much larger than us. I want to congratulate not only our Brave Heart team but everyone who has watched, shared, and helped give a voice to those who needed the help. On October 17th at 8pm PT/ET, our documentary will make its television debut on @lifetimetv! Here's to us remembering the day we helped bring awareness to the possibility of coming out on the other side of bullying" Source: Lizzie Velasques/Instagram, Wikipedia, additional information from Huff Post.

ANTONIO CONTE has issued a wake-up call to his underperforming Chelsea stars, warning them they will again find themselves in mid-table unless they stop living on reputation and improve Last season’s 10th-placed finish was the worst for the Stamford Bridge club for 20 years but there could be more of the same after Chelsea crashed to eighth following this defeat. “We must improve a lot of if we want to stay up [at the top] and not in the middle of the table,” said Conte. “But my message is not important. The most important message is the one that arrives on the pitch. We must all understand this message, and find very soon the right solution to improve. Because we had a bad performance, and Arsenal showed they were stronger than us.” Conte, on the other hand, has not needed any sort of wake-up call at all, having predicted two sleepless nights after Chelsea’s dire capitulation at the Emirates. He admitted to being “angry” at half-time and still seemed seething as he considered whether to drag his under-performing stars in for extra training yesterday. In the end he relented; but rest assured when they report to Cobham today, the players will be unlikely to find a man whose mood has improved any by a further night of tossing and turning in his bed. “I don’t sleep, sure, I don’t sleep,” said Conte. “Not only tonight but for two nights. When I don’t sleep, I reflect. And it’s important to reflect. “Yes, I got angry at half-time but I prefer to keep my words. There are rules in the dressing room. “Sure I was angry but my players were also angry. We weren’t satisfied with our game, with our performance. “I have to find the solution very, very soon because against Arsenal we played a very bad game.”
