Seems the tecno Camon C8 bootloader has to be unlocked before the phone can be rooted....for those who have the device, Please go to Dialpad and press :*#*#7378423#*#* . Go to Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. Look at Boot loader unlocked allow and if it's show No you cant unlock bootloader. Otherwise, you can unlock your bootloader.

Brother somthing that we hav not root u want flash custom recovery,,, the stock recovery is there na lets look for means to root this baby first be looking for CWM OR TRWP ROCOVERY I can't wait to see my c8 running with root access........

OK, if you are ready to take the risk of rooting your tecno Camon C8, download this file from this link... It's a zip file containing super SU for all MediaTek 67***chip

Note that you have to install the mega nz app before the file will be downloaded to your phone automatically...

After downloading, save the file to the root folder of your SD card,
Power off the device and turn it on keeping VOL+ and Power until you see some tiny text.(basically, booting into recovery)

Select the first option (Recovery mode), use VOL+ to navigate and VOL- to confirm.

Once booted to stock recovery select "apply update from sdcard" using VOL+/- to navigate and POWER to confirm, and select the zip file you copied to the MicroSD.
After the flash has completed you will be back to recovery's main screen and just select "reboot system now".

PS: this zip file should work with any MT67** device running a stock Mediatek recovery

PPS: DO NOT apply any incremental ota update after flashing the root zip, flash ONLY flash tool roms when and if they will be available

just tried it now it didn't work
All it wrote was installation aborted...plss gurus help with better methods to root this baby

just some slight differences u know the hot note is 4000 mah while this camon is 3000 mah but it is okay for 3000 mah

who said u can't change Imei? don't mind that nigga ooo so he doesn't know u can change imei on even on 4.0 os mtk phone without rooting them not to talk of a lollipop phone.. . welll all u need to do is to install an app called MTK ENGINEER and u are good to go.. u don't need mobile uncle self to do anything..... and concerning the rooting am still looking for every means to root it..... thanks a camon c8 user.. I love phone.. and it so obvious the camon camera is better that the infinix camera at night nd day light..... plss look at the pictures compared earlier clearly nd be truthful to urself

I am not able to root it too.. . But I'm happy u can change the imei without rooting... . Use mtk software, it will work. I only miss my font

Well, the use of OTG is not mainly for charging other phones. However, I've had phones with that feature but I never got to use it. Why would I want to view contents of a flash drive in my phone? I have a laptop for that. I use my phone memory and a memory card in the phone. QED.
For those that are mentioning things the phone didn't come with, let me help u out
-It didn't come with finger print scanner
-Not water and dust proof
-Not certified to use master card
-And of course no super amoled display
-No gorilla screen
-I think QHD screen resolution and over 550ppi would have been better
-Didn't come with up to 3GB ram
-Not forgetting that the battery is not up to 6000mah
-Finally , it should be less than 19k.
These are the new lines to follow pls when next you want to complain about features lacking,

no mind all these people jare Nigerian are not always satisfied if not the camera aspect I woild hav gone for this hot 2 and save abt 6k but instead I bought the tecno camon c8 that doesn't hav OTA SUPPORT that the only probs I hav wit Tecno

well I will rate the battery 50 percent but of the experience I hav had wit GIONEE M3 with has a 5000 mah battery that is super long lasting but this camon c8 too is trying at least the ultra power saving feature can help u conserve it very well

for those for complaining abt h+ and co it actually has h+but the lollipop is an advanced os that doesn't hav time to be showing that it changes from 3g to H and H+ plss don't be discouraged it has 3.7G And mine u am using the tecno camon c8 and it the same case its also not showing H+ but it is actually a 3.7G phone.........

now flexxing my tecno camon c8 it was available on micro station yesterday And I got it at #25900 I love the phone mehnnnn the camera of the fone is really a big testimony for tecno company they tried tho And am back to being a tecno fan, from gionee m3 to tecno c8 shd we call it an upgrade

Youngtekkey: to all of u guys that is having problem with pes 2012 and asphalt 7,this what i do to make mine work,when i wanted to download pes 2012,i google searched pes 2012 apk for wvga,u know p5 is wvga and is different from hvga so i choose the best option that brings out only wvga so i download it and it plays,that's how i do to other games too,make sure all the apk of ur games are wvga own,and to add if u want the best photo editing app with the features of adobe photoshop then i recommend picsay,just google picsay pro,it's the best camera app,i have ever see on android.....hope it helps.
