having treated the pond & all in good condition, lower the fishes preferable at a corner of the pond,dont be in a hurry to feed(there will be some food like plantons) Or take some of your pond water & add to the fishes before introduction to the main pond. there is no rigid sequence,the most essential is that you dont throw the fishes anyhow into the pond. it applies to all pond type

The wattage varies from 100w to 400w.
I have some on the way, don't know how reliable they but I willing to find out.

I really would love to keep changing water, but I live in the Lekki-Aja corridor and good water is a big deal.
I am putting together the cheapest RAS I can possibly muscle (will share it here when it comes to pass).
However, I will require sincere and time tested answers: What is the correct stocking density for RAS/Flow through/Water changing system?
This is my first big challenge.
Right now, I have two ponds; 15ft(Length) X 7ft(width) X 4ft(depth) and intend to start with one pond and sort into the other when it is time.
Please guys, help me with stocking.

Better your RAS run continuously,though a few hours(if your long) wont impact much,but why increase your investment imput,when many are back to dripping or flowthrough system of fish farming? not at this period of high fuel cost & imaginary light. The more oxygen in your water,the more healthy & growth for your fishes. For a well built or constructed RAS, 6-8 litres per fish. You have the spongy,foam,screen biofilter etc.,talking about the filter element.

Nobody with enough water & good pump will waste funds for RAS.

Interesting, what is the name of the pump and at what depth?

If you have enough water and where to dispose water all year round, flow through may be ideal when considering the cost implication and profit.

The number of fish stock is a function of dissolve oxygen in your pond. Other means that proved to be less expensive to run and still give increased dissolve oxygen has been introduction of aerator and flow through system

State your question. The submersible pump in question, how does it run,purpose? your answer would allow you get a valid response. if it didnt harm Koi,it would do better for catfish,but i want the working of your pump in question & you get an analysis. Aside the detail that low wattage.

What kind of biological filters are available?
Do you necessarily need to infuse oxygen/ozone?
What is the stocking rate when using complete RAS?
Are you allowed to switch off you RAS for some hours?

I have some pumps that can push 16000L/hr for a meagre 150W but the are submersible.

Good everyone. Great of you all to share your expertise so freely. Indeed we still have great people in this country. I have a few questions, I am preparing, training and investing into fish farming at the moment; so I want to find out if there are people here who understand, are using/have used and/or installs RECIRCULATION AQUACULTURE SYSTEM in whatever scale. Also, does anyone know how to use low wattage submersible water pump with catfish? It is used with koi fish but I am trying to experiment with catfish.

I am totally new but keenly interested in pursuing a career in LOGISTIC AND SUPPLY CHAIN MGT. I have read comments and reponses on this thread dated back to 2006. I have a B.Sc in Biochemistry from UNN and a NEBBOSH IGC. What entry level course do I need to take and where. Between CIPS and CILT, which will be better suit my yearnings? How soon can I start? What are the likely training cost? Do they now have classroom training or I still have to rely on self prep'ing wit provided materials?
Please, I will immensely appreciate and cherish as many information as I can get.
