There have been conversations globally about rent pricing software like RealPage and how it may influence rent increases in some countries. However, in Nigeria, house rent is mostly driven by local economic realities rather than software systems.

High cost of building materials, inflation, expensive land, foreign exchange challenges, and limited housing supply are the major factors pushing rent up. Demand in big cities like Lagos and Abuja is very high, and when supply is low, prices naturally increase. Many landlords also factor in maintenance costs and the general economic situation.

While pricing software has been debated abroad, there is little evidence that it plays any major role in Nigeria’s housing market. The issue here is more about economic pressure and housing shortages.

The Roman Catholic Church has gone through the scariest sex scandal ever, where priests have been accused of sexually abusing altar boys and other members of the church. India’s Bishop Franco Mulakkal has now being arrested for raping a nun.

Bishop Mulakkal was arrested by the police Friday in the south Indian state of Kerala, a day after the Vatican accepted the bishop’s request to be temporarily relieved of his duties.

There was no immediate comment from Bishop Franco Mulakkal or his lawyers – though he has denied the charges in interviews in the past.

Mulakkal, who heads the diocese of Jalandhar, wrote to the Vatican on Sunday asking to step down temporarily as protests and calls for his arrest grew. The Vatican accepted his request on Thursday.

A Chinese court has sentenced to death a man convicted of stabbing to death nine kids nearly 3 months back in northern China.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Stated on Wednesday that Just 49.98 percent of applicants who composed its 2018 May/June school certificate examination obtained credit moves and over.

The council’s Head of National Office, Mr. Olu Adenipekun, stated the credit moves included English Language and Mathematics.
