franchasofficia: Tell the world bro.
Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas have vehemently fought against full electronic voting and collation in Nigeria so that they can continue to use thugs, almajiri and INEC manipulation of election result during manual collation to win Nigeria's elections and claim they know how to play Nigerian politics more than Igbos. Whereas it is all about politics of gangup, thuggery, killing, result manipulation and voter suppression that they are using to brag of being good in politics in this 21st century.
Because of their fear for a competent Igbo person to emerge President, they have refused to do things that will make Nigeria grow and become better for all Nigerians.
Tell me why Nigeria should be relying on manual collation of election results in 2023 when we have more efficient, secured electronic systems to handle it fairly, transparently and faster?
Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas have been ruling Nigeria since 1969 and refused to do the right things to change Nigeria. These two heartless tribes have been rotating Nigeria's Presidency amongst them and achieved nothing but total destruction of Nigeria to what it is today and whenever you make effort to change things for better they use their majority at the national assembly to fight it but to them it is Igbos that is the problem. Igbos that are tired of how they have destroyed and ruined Nigeria and looking for a way to leave them to enjoy their Nigeria and start afresh to build their own dream nation from scratch.
God will definitely disgrace all the people holding Nigeria down from progressing beyond where it is today. Politics is a game of alliance, until the Igbo stop betting on the wrong horse and learn how to form alliances they will always be third-class citizens in that country called Nigeria. Don't get me wrong I have always been preaching that the Yoruba Muslims have more in common with their brethren from the North than with their fellow Yoruba Christians. Every time I run into a Fulani/Hausa person and I ask where they are from, the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "I am from the North". Ask a Southerner where they are from they will be telling you their state or better yet the name of their village. That shows you the depth of regional identity when it comes to the Southerner. Until the Southerners change this mindset they will always be ruled by the Northerners. There is still that thorny issue of the Yoruba Muslims. I am still beta-testing what I think will be a good resolution to this issue. |

Born on December 7, 1975, in North Central State (now Kaduna State), Nigeria, Abigail Wok Haruna-Musa, now known as Abigail Marshall Katung, has emerged as a prominent Nigerian-British political figure. Abigail's journey from Nigeria to the United Kingdom is marked by her academic pursuits and significant contributions to public service. She moved to the UK to study at the University of Leeds, a decision that would shape her future in profound ways. I am going to donate $100 (If donation to UNCF is tax deductible I might even increase it to $200) in her name to the United Negro College Fund. First Northerner not from ABU Zaria. |

We are proud of you our daughter ❤️ I don't think she is from Anambra therefore she is not qualified to hold any position in Anambra. An Igbo man who just happened to be from Ebonyi, but has lived the majority of his life in Anambra is not qualified to be Governor? The same Anambra people then turn around and want to be Lagos State Governor. Ain't that a bitch. Like we say in the hood, Lay down the pipe brother. |

Quest7777: When will I ever open this kind of thread and see a Northerner?
I am disappointed. During all the years that I have been living in the USA, out of the 50 states in the union, I have been to 46 states. I have never once met a Northerner who works to send him or herself through school. I studied Electronic Engineering at Univ Of Chicago at Circle and did my Masters in Information Systems at the University Of Michigan Ann Arbor never once did I ever run into anyone of Northern extraction among the student population. I guess they all attended ABU in Zaria, because going through the bio of the Ministers in Nigeria of the Northern extraction, that institution appeared to be a common theme. |

Let me add two cents to this matter. I know for a fact that the Nigerian Foreign Ownership law has always impeded most US companies from opening subsidiaries in Nigeria. The law stipulates that Nigerians should own 51% of shares in a foreign subsidiary. I am not making this up people. I have attended various meetings where this issue was brought up. A foreign company wants to come and open a subsidiary in that country with their initial investment capital and some laws dictate that 51% of the subsidiary value should be owned by some outside people. Mind you 10-15% is the norm in most countries. but with the 51%, it ain't happening. Until that law is repealed I know for a fact no US company will ever invest in Nigeria. This particular law was passed if I recollect correctly sometime in the 1970's |

I am a Yoruba and I have news for you. The Yorubas are the main problem in that country. That Country's main problem are the Yorubas. Yoruba Muslims have more in common with the Northern Muslims than with the Yoruba Christians. The Yoruba are the only group that has that distinction in that country. That is why people in the South can never come together. Always worry regarding where the Yoruba Muslim's loyalties reside whether it is with their religious brethren from the North. You have to be out of that country and look back objectively to the situation in that country, to see and notice what I have been able to observe. |

As the famous saying goes " I don't belong to any political Party I am a Democrat" I loved Biden but last Thursday's debate has made something abundantly clear to me he has to go. There is where things get very messy though If it ain't Biden, then who? Biden as it stands doesn't have to win all the states all he has to do in this election is win the following states Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. If he carries those three states the game is over. That will get him to 270 electoral votes, that is all one needs to be President. My choice as a replacement is the current North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. Why him. 1. He is term-limited which means he can't run again. 2. He is a moderate who can win in other states like Georgia, and his home state North Carolina. 3. He is not a Jewish or Catholic. He is a Baptist. (Religion still matters in some parts of the Country) Here is a Democrat that has won reelection twice in a supposedly red state, what more can I say? If ain't Cooper then I am casting my lots with Biden. Another out-of-the-box idea would be to let Biden run but change the Vice President I like Kamala but this situation calls for drastic measures to replace her with Cooper. I know that it's an all-white male ticket( Let's litigate the women's crusade until after the election) but wow cares? The question is do you want to win or go down to defeat as an idealist? I am a Business Analyst/Application Developer that is how I make my living. I have to analyze a situation without injecting my own biases into the equation. All these talks of Michelle Obama, Gavin Newsom, and Greitsen (Michigan Governor) are all talks. I would have gone for the Kentucky Governor Beshear but that would mean losing a governorship so I am going Cooper (Did I mention this guy has been married to his Middle School sweetheart for 38 years) that family image thing he has that covered. |

chatinent: Not all Nigerians abroad are living very fine. Some are doing fine. Some are suffering too. Others are major supporters of this govt.
First time in the UK with a pal, guess what he said: “it is better to pity Nigerians from abroad.”
He was right asf..
If you were there, you’d never want to fly back to hell🔥 because you'd realise that you are in the paradise they preached about and the God you pray to do not reside in Africa at all.
Know the worse part? When you return, everything for the country go just dey vex you.
My candid advise to those planning to depend on another (home or abroad) is to devise their income, set up small scale businesses and cut costs. A lot of people abroad have more than enough responsibilities to take care of and nobody cares because people back home feel they pluck money on trees over there.
Once you travel abroad, anyone back home who asks you for money and you give excuses, they won't understand you do not have or that you have many responsibilities there to take care of. They will simply conclude that “...upon you stay in Canada...or stay in the UK...or in the US...you do not want to help...while you are out there working your arses out.”

nedekid: Foreigners in Nigerian universities pay their fees in dollars, not the same fees as locals. Nigeria due to devaluation of the naira probably has the cheapest schooling in the world. When my person entered 100level, I paid N2,450,00. The exchange rate was then was N460 to $1. Ie $5326. Last fees I paid for a session was 2,850,000 now at the exchange rate of N1500 to $1. Ie $1900. Those fees include tuition, feeding 2 time daily, health insurance, 4 per room accommodation and other funny charges. Where in the world will you pay $1900 yearly for a degree? Even medicine which is 5m+ per session still comes to $3,333. Where will you train a doctor for such meager amount? Thanks for breaking it down for me. My eldest son after getting his undergraduate degree my wife and I had to open an equity line of credit using my house as collateral for $65000 to see him through Medical school. 10thTenthMan: Personally, I don’t fancy him either. Neither do I like Joe. Most of us who prefer Texas (Cypress specifically) have seen some of the challenges of mass uncontrolled illegal Imigration, even when we are far away from the main border crossing points.
But let us speak the truth about him, Trump. He has always been against ILLEGAL IMIGRATION. ILEGAL. Not the legal kind. ILLEGAL.
Students are Legal in the US. They have legal status/right to temporary stay to study and complete their programs. After studying is where the problem is. And this is what he is bringing closure to.
Anyway from this move, he is trying to appeal to the pro Imigration liberal/left wing. However, I do not personally see it as a smart move. The students themselves cannot vote. Only their relatives who are legal and qualified to vote in the US can vote for him on this ground. Additionally, Joe Biden can easily do the same and even more. This will not give him the much edge that he seeks.
Additionally, this will only imply that only those who can contribute significantly to the US economy and who have been integrated into the system for 3-6 years have the opportunity for the green card. Many people (including Nigerians) will seriously seek admission into 3-4 years courses in the US if he becomes president. A course that will end before the next election of 2028. Enough of the gibberish partner. Trump told y'all he is not with anyone from the sh*thole countries, |

DeLaRue: Nigeria is going through an economic transition that should have happened decades ago.
All former Presidents from Obj knew subsidy was unsustainable but none had the courage to remove it.
The moment GEJ saw a few people protesting at Ojota, he panicked and declared he was no longer removing subsidy. You can't blame anybody for leader who lacked courage.
They also knew the refineries were not working. Did Obj, or GEJ revive any of the refineries?
Now we have a courageous leader who has removed the insidious subsidy as other President's should have done.
While subsidy removal has unforunately caused a lot of hardship, not removing it would have caused even worse hardship in the future.
Kenya has its problems. Our problems are different, and I believe Nigeria's economy will start turning the corner before the end of the year.
We do not need a protest here. You lost me on courageous Why are some people always making noise when it comes to subsidies directed at ordinary people but cricket when the same subsidies are directed to the rich folks? Even the US government employs subsidies in one form or the other example of this can be seen in the yearly Farm Bill. Corn base Ethanol is an additive added to gasoline in the US, why is this? To help farmers in states that grow corn. Nigeria's removing subsidy on gasoline was an ill-advised policy. This has had an indirect inflationary consequence. |
