Culture / Re: Do Africans Owe African Americans Reparations? by Tackman(m): 11:35pm On Jan 07, 2022
flowerpower23:
Why would Haitians be expected to pay for that? They were figting for their freedom. Thats like u coming to rob me and I beat you and now somehow I must pay you because I beat you up.

It's worth noting that the French did demand reparations from Haiti with the threat of invasion looming over them.

This discussion is unprofitable. We're not looking for reparations from you. You couldn't pay even if we blamed you. Our issue is with the way our communities were held down when the U.S was on its way up in the world, ~1930-2000. Blacks were kept out of unions, 1/3rd of the men were imprisoned for an average of 10 years, the family was broken, drugs were forced on people who already weren't doing well, and now they've programmed women into gutting another 1/3rd of the men while they're still in the womb.

That's the problem. If you feel guilty, give the Nigerian immigrants a primer before they come here: "You're walking in on the easiest part, and you have no real ties to this mess, so don't talk shit."
Culture / Looking For Information About Long 19th-century Yorubaland And Yoruba Culture by Tackman(m): 7:34pm On Jan 30, 2021
Trying to add a Yoruba faction to a mod for a popular game. Stumbling over minor obstacles, and I figured there would be someone here who might know enough to answer some questions.

1.) What's the Yoruba word for "Pistol" or "Pistoleer" (specifically in the context of a pistol-armed cavalryman in 18th-century Oyo)? Think of something like a reiter.

2.) How were the armies of 18th/19th-century Oyo/Ibadan composed? What sorts of weapons were preferred by groups in the area at the time, and how might each sort of soldier be referred to?

3.) Were there any tactics or strategies that set Yoruba armies apart from those of their neighbors?

4.) How did the return of Brazilian immigrants affect Yorubaland?

5.) Are there any details you can think of that would benefit a depiction of 19th-century Yorubaland?

Why do you guys do this, exactly? Is it part of a creole? Not going to push anything, but it I honestly just don't understand/ It's like switching between languages in the middle of a sentence.
Romance / Many Children by Tackman(m): 3:23pm On Jun 13, 2020
How did you guys do it? Like, convincing each other to bear and care for more than four kids. From what I've read, the population growth rate indicates that someone in pretty much every other house is pumping out tons of kids. I want that. Is it a cultural feature? Some persuasion technique? What is it?

Just type "4chan.org" into the address bar.
I tend to hang around on /his/, and it's a definite mess. I figure Nigerians should be able to contribute to the actual discussions about Africa and its history more than I can.
Culture / Re: I Need A Hausa Tutor. by Tackman(m): 4:11pm On Jun 12, 2020
How much use can an English-speaker get out of the Hausa language?
Culture / How Many Of You Make Regular Use Of 4chan? by Tackman(m): 4:06pm On Jun 12, 2020
It's a pretty big spot, but it seems like the only Africans I encounter there are Ethiopians, Somalis, Eritreans, and Moroccans. Anyone here use it?
Religion / Voodoo, Hausa Animism, Orisha-worship, Serer Faith, And Fetishism. by Tackman(m): 3:50pm On Jun 12, 2020
Anyone know about these? Looking into West African religions, and trying to understand both how they work and how they relate to the practices present in certain parts of the Americas. Just about any info you have on them should be fine, but I'm mainly looking for explanations, stories, and pictures.
