A woman, identified simply as Mrs. Maxwell, has been arrested by the police for allegedly assaulting her daughter, Blessing, with a hot pressing iron
The daughter, Blessing, a primary three student of the Lagos Model Nursery and Primary School, Ikeja GRA, was allegedly assaulted last Monday by her mother for licking the baby’s food.

It was gathered a neighbour, who lived within the Police College Barracks, Ikeja, with the Maxwells,brought the incident to light after calling the authorities of the LMNPS to complain about Blessing’s condition.

Blessing’s father is said to be a police corporal.

Lagos based lawyer and activist, Barrister Bamidele Aturu, yesterday, dismissed the Federal Government’s sack threat to striking university lecturers, saying that government has failed to appreciate the rot in the university system.

Rather, he said government should meet the demands of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Aturu, who spoke at the 6th Annual Law and Social Development lecture and public presentation of a book, ‘Law and Practice of the National Industrial Court,” at Lagos Airport Hotel, said it is “sad” that the Fededral Government has failed to appreciate the rot in the university system which ASUU wants corrected,” adding that members of ASUU would not be cowed by such threats.

A toddler who had the most misshapen head doctors had ever seen has undergone pioneering surgery to prevent her brain from being squashed.

Three-year-old Kaydence Theriault and her fellow triplets Taylor and Kaylin were all born with Crouzon Syndrome, which causes the baby's head to become misshapen.

Kaydence had the most severe form doctors had ever seen because her skull was shaped like a cloverleaf.

She needed life-saving surgery to ensure her brain didn't become damaged.

A team of expert cranio-facial surgeons came together to save her, and now Kaydence and her siblings are like any playful toddlers who will celebrate their fourth birthday in December.

They are suffering no health issues or learning problems and are catching up in height with other youngsters.

Their mother Bobbie Jo, 38, of Indianapolis, said: 'The doctors have been amazing.

'When Kaydence was born no-one knew if she would survive. But thanks to their incredible talent we have a normal healthy daughter and we can't thank them enough.'

Crouzon Syndrome is a genetic condition that causes the plates of a baby's skull to lock in position too early, before the brain has had chance to grow.

Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday moved from Abuja to their respective campuses expecting crackdown, as the Federal Government has issued several threats.
President Goodluck Jonathan might no longer be directly involved in negotiation with the lecturers: he is angry for the ASUU leaders' contempt for the office of the President, their decision to issue new conditions and theim being allegedly backed by some external forces.

nairastuff:man believed to be in his 70s, who claimed to.be a wizard, was on Wednesday found on the banks of the Okrudu River at Kaimebre, a settlement near the Kasoa New Market in the Central Region Ghana.

The man, who gave his name as Charles Atta, looked frail, pale and bore protruding breasts like that of a teenage girl.

His body was smeared with mud from the bank of the river where he was found by two brothers, Liberty Obeng and Innocent Obeng, who claimed they found the strange man crying for help.

The two brothers told Daily Guide reporters that the self-acclaimed wizard confessed to them that he was in the company of colleagues, including a medical doctor and were flying to Cape Coast for a meeting when he was forced down.

A policeman, who allegedly shot and killed a nine-year-old boy while dispersing a mob, appeared before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, , yesterday, on a charge of manslaughter. Thirty-nine-year-old Rasak Alowonle is facing a count charge. According to the prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, the mob attempted to stop the accused from seizing a commercial bus. Odigie told the court that the policeman committed the offence on June 13 at Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos. The prosecutor said the accused and other members of his patrol team wanted to seize the bus from a driver who was obstructing traffic. “The accused and his team tried to seize the commercial bus but the driver resisted,” he said. Odigie submitted that the commotion drew the attention of a crowd that attacked the team with stones and broken bottles.

The president who spoke at the 50th anniversary of the Nigerian Law School (NLS) in Abuja called on the striking lecturers to appreciate government's commitment to the education sector.

Represented by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN) the president called on Acdemic Staff Union of University (ASUU) to partner government to find solution to the problem facing the sector.

nairastuff: ADO EKITI — A mystery was recorded in the rural community of Olori Oko near Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South-West Local Government of Ekiti State as a goat allegedly gave birth to a strange creature.

Olori- Oko, a farm stead dominated by people of Ede and Modakeke in Osun State is about six kilometres to Ogotun Ekiti and three kilometres away from Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State, with about 500 residents, witnessed a huge, bewildered crowd that stormed the serene community from the neighboring towns and villages to catch a glimpse at the strange birth.

According to an eye witness, who is also a member of the community, Mr. Ganiyu Adetokun, the strange goat delivered the kid at about 6a.m., yesterday, after a long and protracted labour which lasting for about 10 hours.

According to him, a Pastor, Daniel Odedele, resident in the community had to intervene by forcing the baby out of the goat’s genital when it was apparent that it could not deliver it unaided.

ADO EKITI — A 45-year-old farmer, Lawrence Adedapo, is now in Police custody for allegedly forcibly having carnal knowledge of a 75-year-old woman, Grace Asaolu, at Ogbese Camp, Ise-Ekiti in Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Adedapo was said to have invited the septuagenarian to his house on November 7 this year under the pretex that he brought some plantain from his farm for sale.

The accused was said to have taken advantage of the old woman’s fragile nature, overpowering her before having carnal knowledge of her.................
