Politics"We Cannot Guarantee Your Treatment" Ubth Doctors Writes Patients by tapread(op): 2:09pm On Apr 13, 2017
UBTH doctors to patients: We cannot guarantee your treatment due to UBTH management incompetence.

The showdown between the management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), prof. Michael Ibadin, and doctors in the hospital has taken a turn for the worse as resident doctors in the hospital has written a passionate appeal to patients in the hospital informing them that the management of the hospital is making it nearly impossible for them to get productive health care services they may require.
The latest development was revealed by several patients who got a letter from the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) UBTH chapter seeking for their understanding for the almost non-existent services going on in the hospital.
A patient, Mrs. Odion Osayande, who came from Kwale in Delta State, told newsmen that she got to the hospital on Wednesday, April 12, for her consultation with a doctor in the Gynaecology department only to be served a letter informing her of the circumstances prevailing in the hospital.
“I came from Kwale to see my doctor in the Gynaecology department and noticed that patients were not being attended to. I had to make inquiries from the nurses and staff present only to be told that doctors in the hospital have not being paid and the equipment in the hospital are not working. On the last two occasions I visited for my sessions, I have always been asked to go and do my ultrasound in a facility near Ugbowo which is a distance from the hospital because the Ultrasound machine at UBTH is not working. I also found out to my surprise that I am always charged for ultrasound services which UBTH did not provide for me,” she said.
The massive infrastructural decay in the once highly esteemed University of Benin Teaching Hospital Benin city Edo state which was hitherto regarded as the citadel of health care, training and research is now a shadow of itself.
Not only is the Ultrasound machine at the hospital not working, the Stem cell transplant centre in the hospital which was established with the intention of bringing smiles to the families with sickle cell patients as patients with sickle cell has dilapidated to rots and rust.
The situation is not different in the department of Radiotherapy as the radiotherapy machine which the government of Nigeria spent fortune to alleviate the conditions of many patients from several states no longer functions leading to patients to referred far and wide for such care.
The Accident and Emergency department of the hospital which was initially world class to carter for Nigerians especially travelling ones Benin where it is located been a transit town is currently operating below a standard primary health care centre.
For specialists in emergency care they are available in the A and E though poorly catered for by the hospital management but they hardly have what to work with, glucometers are not present to check sugar level, instruments to measure blood pressure are faulty and the pharmacy lacks drugs and intravenous fluids. Patients and their relatives have to cross the road to get drugs and hospital consumables. Materials for advanced care is a no go area leading to the loss of several lives lost on a daily basis.
A copy of the letter dated April 10, 2017 with reference ARD/UBTH/SEC/017/027, with the title, Passionate plea for understanding and signed by the association’s president, Dr. Eustace Oseghale and the Secretary General, Dr. Osagie Emeke, read in part:
“We write to bring to your notice the 21-day Ultimatum served on the hospital management which elapses on Tuesday April18, 2017,” listed the demands of the doctors from management as ,” improvement in facilities available for patient care; provision of drugs, consumables and materials for patient care; employment of more doctors as the current number cannot provide adequate care and ensuring the adequate welfare of staff of the hospital.”
The doctors indicated in the letter that they have given management a 21-day Ultimatum following which they can no longer guarantee industrial harmony, appealed to patients and the public to prevail on the management to do the needful and prevent a full blown industrial action.

The ARD president, Dr. Oseghale said that it was, “It is a high time the general public and well-meaning Nigerians help the doctors in stopping the rot and decay in UBTH, the management should be called to order so the families with sicklers can smile, so the cancer patient does not die, so the accident victims will survive and the radiotherapy, X-ray machines and ultrasound equipment work in order for Nigerians will reduce the cost it spends on medical tourism.” He said.
This is coming following the declaration of a state of emergency UBTH by resident doctors and an ultimatum given to the hospital management by the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) at the hospital last week

A Zimbabwean self-professed prophet, Pachawa Kwanamba, has confessed of his involvement in s*x sessions with snakes.

The 40-year-old told Zim News that he was helpless over the situation which started after he had s*x with one Sheila Taibu, a member of a popular cult in Zimbabwe.

He said, “I now physically engage in an*l s*x with a snake. The mysterious snake is in the habit of penetrating me from my behind every day.

“Sometimes I feel it is much better for me to die than to continue to live the life that I am living.

“Mysterious things have been happening to me ever since the day I had s*x with Sheila and I now regret the decision I made of indulging in s*x with her.

Foreign AffairsKenya Revenue Authority 'lost $39m To Country's Top Hacker' by tapread(op): 4:38pm On Mar 22, 2017
An IT expert has been charged with hacking into Kenya's Revenue Authority and stealing $39m (£31m).

Alex Mutungi Mutuku, 28, is accused of electronic fraud but he denies any wrongdoing. The prosecution says he is part of a wider network that is stealing money from several high-profile institutions. Mr Mutuku was arrested after police conducted an operation following a tip-off that institutions were losing money. A lawyer for Mr Mutuku, Tacey Makori, has asked for him to be released, arguing that police had failed to show enough evidence to warrant an extended detention. He is being held while anti-cybercrime officers dig deeper into what they believe is an elaborate fraud scheme with international connections. It allegedly involves hackers with access to high-tech equipment and software which enabled them to steal from corporations, Kenya's Standard newspaper reports. "It is a case of remote control hacking where the suspects operate smoothly with their machines and the next minute you realise you have no money in your account," state prosecutor Edwin Okello is quoted by the newspaper as saying. "The information we have is just a tip of the iceberg. The racket is big and involves people outside the country." Earlier this week, Kenyan police said a Chinese company was behind a spate of criminal activities, including the hacking of Kenya Revenue Authority

Politics12 Beautiful Facts About Indigenous Nigerian People - mightymike.name.ng by tapread(op): 10:51am On Mar 14, 2017
1. Nigeria is home to seven percent (7%) of the total languages spoken on earth. Taraba state alone has more languages than 30 African countries. The importance of this fact is appreciated when one understands that language is the “soul of culture” (as Ngugi wa Thiongo famously said). It is language that births the proverbs, riddles, stories and other aspects of culture that give us identity. UNESCO puts forward that the world’s languages represents an extraordinary wealth of creativity. Linguistic diversity correlates with cultural diversity. This means Nigeria can look inwards and drive itself to become the greatest hub for cultural tourism on earth, and consequently empower its citizens tremendously in the process.
2. The Walls of Benin (800-1400AD), in present day Edo State, are the longest ancient earthworks in the world, and probably the largest man-made structure on earth. They enclose 6500 square kilometers of community lands that connected about 500 communities. At over 16000km long, it was thought to be twice the length of the Great Wall of China, until it was announced in 2012 (after five years of meticulous measurement by Chinese surveyors) that the Great Wall is about 21,000km long.

3. The Yoruba tribe has the highest rate of twin births in the world. Igbo-Ora, a little town in Oyo state, has been nicknamed Twin capital of the World because of its unusually high rate of twins that is put as high as 158 twins per 1000 births. In a video I watched last year on YouTube presented by Titi (a white lady who speaks Yoruba), and which was centred on twin births in Igbo-Ora, one of the locals boasted that every family in the town has at least one twin!

4. Sarki Muhammad Kanta The Great of Kebbi, was the only ruler who resisted control by Songhai, West Africa’s greatest empire at that time. He founded and ruled the Hausa city-state of Kebbi around 1600 A.D and built Surame its capital, a planned city which was almost impossible to penetrate during war. In fact UNESCO describes Surame as “one of the wonders of human history, creativity and ingenuity”, and probably the most massive stone-walled constructions in West Africa. He is listed in Robin Walker’s 50 Greatest Africans.

5. Africa’s oldest known boat is The Dufuna canoe which was discovered in Dufuna village, Yobe state, by a Fulani Herdsman in May 1987, while he dug a well. Various radio-carbon tests conducted in laboratories of reputable universities in Europe and America indicate that the canoe is over 8,000 years old, thus making it the oldest in Africa and 3rd oldest in the world. The discovery of the canoe has completely changed accepted theories of the history and sophistication of marine technology in Africa.

6. Sungbo’s Eredo, a 160 km rampart equipped with guard houses and moats, is reputed to be the largest single pre-colonial monument (or ancient fortification if you like) in Africa. It is located in present-day Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State and when it was built a millennium ago, it required more earth to be moved during construction than that used for building the Great Pyramid of Giza (one of the Seven Wonders of The Ancient World). The most astonishing thing is that Sungbo’s Eredo was the biggest city in the world (bigger than Rome and Cairo) during the Middle Ages when it was built!

7. Sarki Abdullah Burja of Kano (ruled 1438-1452 AD), the 18th ruler of Ancient Kano, created the first Golden Age in Northern Nigeria and ushered in a period of great prosperity. During his reign, Hausa became the biggest indigenous language spoken in Africa after Swahili. He is on the list of 50

( ref:Greatest Africans in Robin Walker’s wonderful book, “When We Ruled”.)

8. The Jos Plateau Indigobird, a small reddish-brown bird, is found nowhere else on the planet but Plateau state, Nigeria.

9. The Anambra waxbill, a small bird of many beautiful colours, is found only in Southern Nigeria and nowhere else on earth.

10. The Niger Delta (which is the second largest delta on the planet), has the highest concentration of monotypic fish families in the world, and is also home to sixty percent of Nigeria’s mangrove forests. You should know too that Nigeria’s mangrove forests are the largest in Africa and third largest on earth.

11. According to the World Resources Institute, Nigeria is home to 4,715 different types of plant species, and over 550 species of breeding birds and mammals, making it one of the most ecologically vibrant places of the planet.

12. Ile-Ife, in present day Osun State, was paved as early as 1000AD, with decorations that originated from Ancient America suggesting there might have been contact between the Yorubas and the Ancient Americans half a millenium before Columbus ‘discovered’ America.

famous football dynasties but little is known of Imani, the youngest of the maestro Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew’s children.

While her three brothers Ibrahim, Andre and Jordan are household names because of their talent on the football pitch, Imani Ayew has taken a different path and is venturing into the world of fashion as a model.

The aspiring model has built a modelling portfolio on the quiet and appears poised to take the fashion industry by storm.

However, although Imani appears more interested in fashion, she has also expressed some strong views in the past about football especially when her brother, West Ham star Andre Ayew was overlooked for the 2015 CAF Player of the Year award.

Imani posted on Instagram: “Congratulations baby 3rd place doesn’t mean ish because you have done it all. The whole of Africa knows you are the number one player this year. Whether they like it or not YOU are and have PROVED yourself. “But as Yaya Touré said “Even Fifa, with all its history of corruption, wouldn’t do this.” The Ayew legacy will continue to be the best!To all of the people who support us God bless you and don’t stop believing in us because you push us to always do MORE. Anyway congratulations to MY Best African Player of the year ?? Love you twin #haterscanchokeonit”.

Imani Ayew is the fourth child of three-time African Footballer of the Year and FIFA 100 member Abedi “Pele” Ayew and third child of her mother Maha Ayew after Andre and Swansea City star, Jordan Ayew.

PoliticsBuhari Media Centre: What I Know About It - @9jaclicktivist by tapread(op): 3:35am On Feb 13, 2017
Buhari Media Centre: What I know about it.

Since Prof. Farooq Kperogi made his 'revelation' about Buhari Media Center (BMC), many persons have come out with their own analysis. Is the name really BMC and is it truly secret?

In 2015, soon after President Muhammadu Buhari won election, modalities were put in place to accommodate most persons who worked for him on the social media, NOT journalists, but mainly top bloggers and social media influencers.

Garba Shehu was saddled with the responsibility and he gave the office which Atiku used as his media office to the team and named it BUHARI MEDIA ORGANIZATION (BMO). The condition for working there was that everyone selected has to relocate to Abuja. Most persons especially Lagos bloggers refused to relocate, even though less than 10 of them did. The money was penned at N250,000 monthly, which was too meagre for yours sincerely.

None of those working there use pen names but names already known with them on social media. Most of the persons who finally accepted the work are mainly on twitter and owners of powerful blogs.

From what I was told in 2015, the salaries would be paid by a certain rich Alhaji who's in support of Buhari and the place will be headed by Garba Shehu. My question then was "is this man so rich that he will pay 50 persons N12.5 million monthly without contracts from Buhari and in turn inflate it just to accommodate BMO?

Lauretta Onochie who's Buhari's PA on Social media was a member of the team. That was why I was the first to announce that Buhari had penned her down for the position 6 months before it happened.

There's no denying the fact that BMO exists but they don't use pseudonym to write. I remember that when it started, salaries were usually delayed until Garba stepped in to settle it.

But here's the shocker, over N100 million has been budgeted in 2017 budget for BMO in the name of bloggers meeting.

My last visit there was September 2016. It's a cream color one storey building located at Okonjo-Iweala drive with a black gate and enough parking space inside.

BMO exists but until 2017 budget came out, I'm not aware that the presidency pays them, even though the truth may have been hidden from some of us.
