Not in my department...most lecturers are not senior lecturers, as such they can only supervise msc and not PhD students.

Only the profs and senior lecturers only supervise PhD students

Can’t you select the supervisor yourself? I think you should be able to select the supervisors that have experience or skills in the area that interests you.

They don't do that in U.I. they allot students to supervisors based on discretion.

What is your advice sir?

I obtained the PhD form last week (U.I, Nigeria)....i hope they admit me and as well give me a good supervisor.
