I heard he's been absorbed back into the military and promoted to the rank of colonel. How true is ds? |
Amazing thought-provoking painting "Beijing 2008" by Chinese-Canadian artist Liu Yi. The woman with the tattoos on her back is China. On the left, focused intensely on the game, is Japan. The one with the shirt and head cocked to the side is America. Lying provocatively on the floor is Russia. And the little girl standing to the side is Taiwan. This painting, named “Beijing 2008”, has been the subject of much discussion in the west as well as on the internet. What’s interesting is that this painting is called “Beijing 2008”, yet it depicts four women playing mahjong, and conceals a wealth of meaning within… China’s visible set of tiles “East Wind” has a dual meaning. First, it signifies China’s revival as a world power. Second, it signifies the military might and weaponry that China possesses has already been placed on the table. On one hand, China appears to be in a good position, but we cannot see the rest of her hand. Additionally, she is also handling some hidden tiles below the table. America looks confident, but is glancing at Taiwan, trying to read something off of Taiwan’s expression, and at the same time seems to be hinting something at Taiwan. Russia appears to be disinterested in the game, but this is far from the truth. One foot hooks coyly at America, while her hand passes a hidden tile to China, both countries can be said to be exchanging benefits in secret. Japan is all seriousness while staring at her own set of tiles, and is oblivious to the actions of the others in her self-focused state. Taiwan wears a traditional red slip, symbolizing that she is the true heir of Chinese culture and civilization. In one hand she has a bowl of fruit, and in the other, a paring knife. Her expression as she stares at China is full of anger, sadness, and hatred, but to no avail; unless she enters the game, no matter who ends up as the victor, she is doomed to a fate of serving fruit. Outside the riverbank is darkened by storm clouds, suggesting the high tension between the two nations is dangerously explosive. The painting hanging on the wall is also very meaningful; Mao’s face, but with Chiang Kai Shek’s bald head, and Sun Yat-Sen’s mustache. The four women’s state of UnCloth represent the situation in each country. China is naked on top, clothed with a skirt and underwear on the bottom. America wears a bra and a light jacket, but is naked on the bottom. Russia has only her underwear left. Japan has nothing left. At first glance, America appears to be most composed and seems to be the best position, as all the others are in various states of unclothedness. However, while America may look radiant, her vulnerability has already been exposed. China and Russia may look naked, yet their key private parts remain hidden. If the stakes of this game is that the loser strips off a piece of clothing, then if China loses, she will be in the same state as Russia (similar to when the USSR dissolved). If America loses, she also ends up in the same state as Russia. If Russia loses, she loses all. Japan has already lost everything. Russia seems to be a mere “filler” player, but in fact is exchanging tiles with China. The real “filler” player is Japan, for Japan has nothing more to lose, and if she loses just once more she is immediately out of the game. America may look like she is in the best position, but in fact is in a lot of danger, if she loses this round, she will give up her position as a world power. Russia is the most sinister, playing along with both sides, much like when China was de-occupied, she leaned towards the USSR and then towards America; as she did not have the ability to survive on her own, she had to weave between both sides in order to survive and develop. There are too many of China’s tiles that we cannot see. Perhaps suggesting that China has several hidden aces? Additionally China is also exchanging tiles with Russia, while America can only guess from Taiwan’s expression of what actions have transpired between Russia and China. Japan on the other hand is completely oblivious, still focused solely on her own set of tiles. Taiwan stares coldly at the game from aside. She sees everything that the players at the table are doing, she understands everything that is going on. But she doesn’t have the means or permission to join the game, she isn’t even given the right to speak. Even if she has a dearth of complaints, she cannot voice it to anyone, all she can do is to be a good page girl, and bring fresh fruit to the victor. The final victor lies between China and America, this much is apparent. But look closely; while America is capable, they are playing Chinese Mahjong, not Western Poker. Playing by the rules of China, how much chance at victory does America really have?

We now bring you an amateur footage of the May 24 Nigeria Governors’ Forum election during which Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was reelected chairman after he defeated his only challenger, Jonah Jang of Plateau State 19 votes to 16. PREMIUM TIMES had exclusively reported that a recording of the voting was done by a governor in the camp of Mr. Amaechi. With his mobile phone, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun captured most of the proceedings of an election that featured intense maneuvering from governors on a clear divide, either in support or against President Goodluck Jonathan’ candidate, Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state. The president has repeatedly denied having interest in who becomes the next chairman of the group, but that claim has been disproved by insiders and governors, and even the president’s body language. The footage documents how the 35 governors voted, the counting of votes and the declaration of result by presiding officer, Asishana Okauru, who is also the director general of the forum. At a point during the counting of votes, the arrowhead of the opposition against Mr. Amaechi, Governor Godswill Akpabio, realized the election was being taped and he charged angrily at Mr. Aregbesola. But once Mr. Akpabio turned away, the governor simply resumed his secret recording. With allegation of fraud now up against Mr. Amaechi’s victory from governor’s known to be die-hard associates of the president, the recording is seen as the first documented evidence of a transparent process to crush that concern. The outcome of the poll has been rejected by governors in support of Mr. Jang, and apparently, President Jonathan. The protesting governors, led by Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state, said the process violated key rules, and declared the group’s decision not to recognize Mr. Amaechi as the winner. But for all the authority of incumbency and presidential leverage, Friday’s elections provided a teachable moment on the potency of an alliance between discontent members of a ruling party, and the opposition All Progessives Congress – a coalition bonded by common goal to upset and humiliate the establishment. Mr. Amaechi, not favoured to win by the pro-Jonathan team, emerged despite intense strategizing that saw the Peoples Democratic Party raise a list of supporting governors who agreed Mr. Jang was the rightful candidate to win the seat. Nineteen PDP governors signed the document before the polls. The Northern Governors Forum met early Friday and prevailed on the Katsina and Bauchi governors, Ibrahim Shema and Isa Yuguda, respectively, to yield their ambition, for a consensus candidate in the person of Mr. Jang. But in the end, at least three governors, who rallied that support on paper, backed off when afforded the luxury of an unmarked ballot paper, and a secret voting system. Their votes, alongside the opposition, apparently went Mr. Amaechi’s way. After the polls, Mr. Akpabio, backed by other governors in support of Mr. Jang, said using the unmarked papers (which should betrayed those who opposed the president’ choice), and the refusal of Mr. Amaechi to resign first before the poll, nullified the elections. acidtalk: What in Heaven's name is This Country Nigeria turning into?Brother, while accepting that students and parents have a role to play in this, the administrators of Jamb ought to carry out statistical surveys to see if the CBT thing will work. I'm an IT consultant and I personally explained to Ogas at the top that they cannot just travel to developed countries and bring back technologies whose origins and foundation are not put in place. There r schools that receive classes in open air, where are they supposed to plug computers with which they will prepare for exams. Like the national assembly proposed the cbt as optional. U cannot out rightly blame students and parents rather unrealistic policy makers at the elm of power. |

Stayed in quarters too. Nice. olumidazz: I enjoyed every bit of my stay in ps, even though the majority of the student were not exposed and looked liked mere peasants at that time, I lived in ps qtrs like a king in the country of the blind in those days, most of the girls were virgins and daddy's girl and once you do one girl it will be difficult messing with another, Life was easy back then and lecturers had a lot of beef for students who were already opened eyed or who did not have the core kwara mentality so I identified this quickly so I first of all went down low. As I type this on my keyboard from my bryanston home in jobug on this rainy sunday afternoon, nostalgia is gradually creeping in my days of hustle along tanke, cbn quarters, one club like that along tanke we use to watch football I can't remember the name now and a host of othe reminiscences, all these has been a long 15 years |
2004 Alumni; bet that block 1 burger is sweeter than all the food in your village. And you should thank Oloyede for printing an ID card for u. If a lecturer asks U to pick dirt and you do, my dear U should still be in secondary school. I got my first ID card in my 400 level. And u r lucky u were not in school wen senior boys were senior boys. Those children who now work in Unilorin with their fathers have graduated and are qualified lecturers. Great Unilorites!!! |
In 2012, security vote in Nigeria amounted to approximately 1trillion Naira. Mathematical explanations as to how the FG arrived at this remains a secret. One thing I am certain of is that Nigerians are yet to enjoy the benefits of security. 2:22am, Feb 3rd, I received a call from my neighbor, while trying to come alive and at the same time trying to figure out why he would be calling at such hour, I sensed trouble so I picked up after his second attempt. Asking 'bawo ni' in yoruba language, I replied fine. Once he realised I was safe, he said I should remain vigilant as he heard noises from the next house and it seems a woman was shouting "armed robbers". My first move was to switch off all the lights in my house and fetched my phone. As I did not have the phone number of the nearest police station, or police post, I called the secretary of our resident association, and then the chairman, both were switched off. I remembered my uncle who stays about 5 Km from my house and also the chairman of his community, he quickly called the DPO closest to him and the response was shocking. "WE DO NOT HAVE PATROL VEHICLES". He gave me this shocking response and also the number of the DPO so I can give him more information. I called and I was once again thrown off with the same response. I said fine, and will call him if I have any new information. "Please dont call me back, cant you hear me? I said we do not have any functioning patrol vehicle and we cannot come there now. I have the information already and will act on it". I went pale as I listened to this in utter dismay. I was awake till morning, not for fear of safety, but with many thoughts running through my mind. We pay vigilantes in my estate for added security. Where were they at this time? Sleeping. What happened to the Patrol vehicle in a divisional police office that takes care of a whole local government in the federal capital territory? Where did the DPO get his security training from? What if these thieves were terrorists with fatal intent? Since these thieves sense no level of security, won't they come again and again? In a country where top executives move around with one-four patrol vehicles, and a local government doesn't have one? Wonder where and when it will get better. But til' that time comes, I AM GETTING MY SELF A GUN! |

A graduate in Nigeria should receive a Minimum of 100,000/month. But it also depends on location and proximity to work. But economically, anything less than this is below poverty line |
