7 People Who Were Arrested Because Of Something They Wrote On Facebook

Many people exercise poor judgement on Facebook, a site where Freedom of Speech may no longer apply.
Recently, young Facebook users who have posted controversial status messages have ended up in jail.

Sometimes the messages they typed were actually offensive. Other times they were jokes gone terribly wrong. One teen was even arrested for posting violent rap lyrics.

Most of the time, the Facebook offenders are impulsive. They type before they think, and lately they've had to pay serious consequences.


Justin Carter is a 19-year-old who is currently in jail for leaving a "sarcastic" comment on Facebook about "shooting up a kindergarten."

Justin Carter is a 19-year-old who has been in jail since February 2013.

The reason: he was allegedly insulted by a fellow League of Legends gamer who questioned his mental state and retorted:

"I think Ima shoot up a kindergarten / And watch the blood of the innocent rain down/ And eat the beating heart of one of them."

The comment worried a Canadian woman who tipped authorities. Carter's house was searched, his computer was taken, and he was arrested. He's currently awaiting a trial even though he and his family maintain that the Facebook messages were meant to be sarcastic.

Last October, another 19-year-old, Matt Woods was sentenced to three months in jail for making sick jokes about missing children on Facebook.

A teenager in England, Matthew Woods, was sentenced to three months in jail after making numerous inappropriate comments about a five year old, April Jones and a four year old, Madeleine McCann, who disappeared, according to The Daily Mail.

The offensive comments stemmed from Sickipedia, a site that encourages the swapping of tasteless jokes.

Woods' Facebook messages included: "I woke up this morning in the back of a transit van with two beautiful little girls, I found April in a hopeless place." and "Who in their right mind would abduct a ginger kid?"

Woods' mother wasn't pleased. Daily Mail says she wrote a follow up message, "You should stop and think things out before opening ya gob," at which point Woods wrote an apology and said he had been drunk while writing the messages.

Still, an angry mob showed up at Woods' house and the court was notified of the offensive comments. Woods was told at the time of his sentence, "This was a disgusting and despicable crime which the bench finds completely abhorrent...We felt there was no other sentence which would convey the abhorrence that many people have for this sort of crime."

Jordan Blackshaw and Perry Sutcliffe-Keenan were given a 4-year jail sentence after they created a Facebook event encouraging a riot.

Jordan Blackshaw, 20, and Perry Sutcliffe-Keenan, 22, used Facebook to try and encourage a riot in England and they were sentenced to four years in prison. Blackshaw created a Facebook event for "Smash Down in Northwich Town." Sutcliffe-Keenan used a Facebook account to create a page for The Warrington Riots.

"Sentencing Blackshaw to four years in a young offenders institution, Judge Elgan Edwards QC said he had committed an 'evil act'. He said: 'This happened at a time when collective insanity gripped the nation. Your conduct was quite disgraceful and the title of the message you posted on Facebook chills the blood.'"

18-year-old Paula Asher was sent to jail after "Lol-ing" about a hit and run and a DUI on Facebook.

Last September, 18-year-old Paula Asher was sent to jail after NBC says she hit a car with four teenagers in it and drove off, got a DUI, then joked about it on Facebook.

"My dumb ass got a dui and I hit a car…lol,” she wrote.

The parents of the teens in the car saw Asher's message and asked a local judge to have her remove the post and stop using Facebook, NBC reports. When Asher declined, she was sentenced to two days in prison for contempt of court. She then had to go back to court to face the charges she admitted to in her status message.

"I apologize to everybody," Ashler later said. "I apologize to the judge. I didn't mean to hurt anybody. I didn't think 'lol' would put me in jail."

A high school student who is an aspiring rapper, Cameron D'Ambrosio, was arrested for posting some of his lyrics on Facebook.

Cameron D'Ambrosio, 18, is a high school student who is also an aspiring rapper. The Massachusettes native posted some of his lyrics on Facebook and was initially arrested without bail. He was told what he posted was a "terroristic threat."

The lyrics read: "F--- a boston bombinb [sic] wait til u see the sh-- I do, I'ma be famous for rapping, and beat every murder charge that comes across me."

A grand jury decided not to indict D'Ambrosio.

A man in Bangladesh, Muhammad Ruhul Amin Khandaker, was given a jail sentence for joking about his desire for the Prime Minister to die.

In Bangladesh, Muhammad Ruhul Amin Khandaker was sentenced to jail for joking about his desire for the Prime Minister to die, The Huffington Post reports.

Khandaker worked for Jahangirnagar University's Department of Information and Technology and was commenting on Facebook about a number of newsworthy, fatal traffic accidents. He typed something to the effect of, "Why can't this happen to [Prime Minister] Sheikh Hasina?"

The casual comment led him to a six-month jail sentence. Khandaker was traveling in Australia at the time and sought refuge there. The Huffington Post's contributor Mark Hillary notes that Bangladesh is more sensitive to Facebook material than other countries:

"The Bangladeshi government has something of a track record with Facebook - which is by far the most popular social network in the country. In May 2010 they blocked Facebook access because of satirical images of the prophet Muhammad."

David Voelkert was arrested temporarily for an elaborate hoax he played on his ex-wife.

David Voelkert was the mastermind behind an elaborate Facebook sting which got him arrested, but quickly released.

In mid-2011, Voelkert received a Facebook friend request from someone who looked like an attractive teenager named "Jessica Studebaker." But Voelkert believed it was his ex-wife trying to toy with him. He got a notarized affidavit which stated:

"I am lying to this person [Jessica Studebaker] to gain positive proof that it is indeed my ex-wife trying to again tamper in my life. In no way do I have plans to leave with my children or do any harm to Angela Dawn Voelkert or anyone else.”

Voelkert had numerous conversations with "Studebaker" on Facebook that made it seem like he was striking up a romance with her and plotting to end all ties with his ex-wife. Specifically, he told "Studebaker" (who was indeed his ex-wife) that he placed a GPS device in Angela's car so he could find her and kill her. Then he asked "Studebaker" to run away with him.

Voelkert's ex-wife Angela went to authorities and told them of the conversation. David was arrested shortly after but was released when he brought out the affidavit.

BONUS: While going through a nasty divorce, Mark Bryon wrote about his wife on Facebook. A judge ordered him to either apologize or go to jail.

Mark Bryon and his wife were going through a messy divorce and his custody of his child was in jeopardy. He blasted his wife on his Facebook page saying:

"… if you are an evil, vindictive woman who wants to ruin your husband's life and take your son's father away from him completely — all you need to do is say that you're scared of your husband or domestic partner…"

His ex-wife found out about the post and brought it to the authorities. From USA Today:

"Domestic Relations Magistrate Paul Meyers found Mark Byron in contempt and ordered him jailed for 60 days beginning March 19 — or to post for 30 days on his Facebook page an apology to his wife, written by Meyers, if he wanted to avoid jail. He also had to pay her $1,156 in back child support and her lawyers' fees."

Mark Byron's lawyer was shocked. "In a million years, I didn't think he'd be found in contempt," she told USA Today. "He did nothing but vent. She didn't like what he had to say. That's what this boils down to."

Here's the full, court-ordered apology Mark Byron wrote his wife to avoid jail time:

"I would like to apologize to my wife, Elizabeth Byron, for the comments regarding her and our son ... which were posted on my Facebook wall on or about November 23, 2011. I hereby acknowledge that two judicial officials in the Hamilton County Domestic Relations Court have heard evidence and determined that I committed an act of domestic violence against Elizabeth on January 17, 2011. While that determination is currently being appealed, it has not been overturned by the appellate court. As a result of that determination, I was granted supervised parenting time with (my son) on a twice weekly basis. The reason I saw (my son) only one time during the four month period which ended about the time of my Facebook posting was because I chose to see him on only that single occasion during that period. I hereby apologize to Elizabeth for casting her in an unfavorable light by suggesting that she withheld (my son) from me or that she in any manner prevented me from seeing (my son) during that period. That decision was mine and mine alone. I further apologize to all my Facebook Friends for attempting to mislead them into thinking that Elizabeth was in any manner preventing me from spending time with (my son), which caused several of my Facebook Friends to respond with angry, venomous, and inflammatory comments of their own."

BONUS: When 19-year-old robbery suspect Rodney Bradford was arrested, his Facebook status "Where my IHOP" got him out of jail.

On October 17, 2009 at 11:47 a.m., Rodney Bradford wrote a simple Facebook status intended for his pregnant girlfriend:

"ON THE PHONE WITH THIS FAT CHICK...WHERER MY IHOP."

The message saved him when he was arrested the next day. Police thought the 19-year-old had committed robbery. But his Facebook status proved to be an alibi; it was published at the same time as the crime and Bradford's lawyer proved it had been written from his dad's house in Harlem.

Bradford later told NY Post: "They had me on Rikers Island for 12 days. It was really miserable. If it wasn't for Facebook I'd still be on Rikers Island."

The people of Borno state are not happy with the President’s visit as they called on government to ensure that the president visit some of the grave yard to see for himself and salute the death whose blood are crying for justice.

Mallam Suleiman, a businessman, who said he has lost 5 members of his family as a result of the crisis in Borno said, he has not seen anything good about the president’s coming because he is coming late and his coming means nothing to the people.

Also some youth in Borno have called on other youths in the state, not to go out to welcome the President as he has failed the people in acting where he should have acted when the people are calling for his action with regards to the Boko Haram Crisis, which left so many people death while orphans and widows have increased in greater number in the state.


DailyPost correspondent also observed that even the government of Borno state is in some way showing apathy to the President’s coming as there was no serious preparation by the government with regards to the President’s coming.

According to a close government source, the need to celebrate the President’s is not in the interest of the people, as everybody feels that his coming is an after thought.

From the streets also there was no songs for Mr. President who landed at the Maiduguri International Airport at about 11:00 and headed for Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

RICE and other grains like wheat and corn can actually be worse than sugar. In fact, if you go by the glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) studies, white rice is almost equal to white sugar.

Indeed, white rice has an index of 92 versus 100 for sugar. The glycemic load is 30 - in excess of the 20 that the upper limit per "good carbohydrate" serving.

However, there are several reasons why rice is worse than sugar:

Rice becomes sugar

This is a fact that no nutritionist can deny: rice is chemically no different from sugar. Remember the experiment in school where you chewed on some cooked rice for a while. After a while, it turned sweet!

Actually, one bowl of cooked rice is the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar. It does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal rice.

A bowl of brown rice is richer in fibre, some B vitamins and mineral but it is still the caloric equal of 10 teaspoons of sugar.

To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume to lots of kangkong (Ipomoea aquatic or water spinach) - 10 bowls of it.

Rice cannot be digested before it is thoroughly cooked. However, when thoroughly cooked, it becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar, within half an hour - almost as quickly as it would if your took a sugar candy.

Rice is also lacking in the "rainbow of anti-oxidants". This complete anti-oxidant rainbow is necessary for the effective and safe utilisation of sugar.

Fruits come with a sugar called fructose. However, they are not empty calories as the fruit is packed with a whole host of other nutrients that help its proper assimilation and digestion.

Rice has no fibre

The fibre of the kangkong fills you long before your blood sugar spikes. This is because the fibre bulks and fills your stomach. Since white rice has no fibre, you will end up eating lots of this "calorie dense" food.

Brown rice has more fibre but still the same amount of sugar.

Rice is tasteless while sugar is sweet. There is only so much you can eat at one sitting. How many teaspoons of sugar can you eat before you feel like throwing up?

How many bowls of rice would you eat at lunch in a banana leaf restaurant today?

Another point worth noting is that rice is always the main part of the meal. While sugar may fill your dessert or sweeten your coffee, it will never be the main part of any meal. You could eat maybe 2-3 teaspoons of sugar at one meal.

However, you could easily eat the equivalent of two to three bowls, which translates to 20-30 teaspoons of sugar, in one meal.

I am always amused when I see someone eat sometimes five bowls of rice (50 teaspoons of sugar) at a banana leaf restaurant and then ask for teh tarik that is kurang manis!

There is no real "built in" mechanism for us to prevent overeating rice. How much kangkong can you eat? How much fried chicken can you eat? How much steamed fish can you eat?

Think about that. In terms of just quantity, where will you eat more - at a banana leaf restaurant where rice it the bulk or a western restaurant serving grilled fish and broccoli?

You eat more salt

As rice is tasteless, you tend to consume more salt - another villain when it comes to high blood pressure.

You tend to take more curry which has salt to help flavour the tasteless rice. We also tend to consume more ketchup and soy sauce which are also rich is salt.

Eating rice causes you to drink less water. The more rice you eat, the less water you will drink as there is no mechanism to prevent the overeating of rice.

Rice, wheat and corn come hidden in our daily food. As rice is tasteless, it tends to end up in other substitute foods like rice flour, noodles and bread.

Rice, even when cooked, is difficult to digest. It is "heavy stuff".

If you have problems with digestion, try skipping rice for a few days. You will be amazed at how the problem will just go away.

Rice prevents the absorption of several vitamins and minerals. When taken in bulk, it reduces the absorption of vital nutrients like zinc, iron and the B vitamins.

Actually, you were not meant to eat rice. You see, our genes have hardly changed in more than 30,000 years.

However, our food and lifestyle has changed dramatically. The caveman would hardly recognise our food or way of life.

Caveman food was never cooked as fire was not yet tamed. Thus, he ate only those foods that you can eat without treatment with or by fire.

The stuff that he ate were fruits, vegetables, fish (sushi anyone?), eggs, nuts and meat.

Yes, even meat. You can even eat meat raw if you were starving in the forest. You have the necessary enzyme systems to digest meat.

However, rice, like wheat and corn, cannot be eaten raw. It must be cooked. Even if you are starving in the desert, you cannot eat rice in the raw form. This is because we do not have the system of enzymes to break rice down.

Thus, the caveman never ate rice. As you share the same genetic code, you shouldn't too. To make matters worse, you not only eat rice, but also make it the bulk of your food. In some parts of Asia, rice forms up to 85 per cent of the plate.

Even if you take rice, keep it to a minimum. Remember, it is only for your tongue, not your body.

Rice is actually vitaminless, mineraless, colourless, flavourless, fibreless and useless.

Can you rely on rice to keep you healthy? Eat a colourful and varied diet.

Are you addicted?

Going rice-less may not be easy but you can do it. Here are some strategies that you can pursue in your quest to eat less rice:

* Cut your rice by half. Barry Sears, author of the Zone Diet, advises "eating rice like spice".

Instead, increase your fruits and vegetables. Take more lean meats and fish. You can even take more eggs and nuts.

* Have rice-less meals - take no rice or wheat at breakfast. Go for eggs instead.

* Go on rice-less days - go 'western' once a week. Take no rice and breads for one day every week. That can't be too difficult.

* Appreciate the richness of your food - go for taste, colours and smells. Make eating a culinary delight.

Enjoy your food in the original flavours. Avoid the salt shaker or ketchup. You will automatically eat less rice.

* Eat your salads before your meal. You many even eat your fruit dessert before your meals. The fibre rich fruits will "bulk up" in your stomach.

The Lagos State Office of Public Defender on Friday summoned officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline of the state’s Ministry of the Environment that allegedly detained a pregnant woman, causing her to lose a six-month-old pregnancy.

This is just as the government said it would wait for the outcome of OPD’s investigations to react to the incident and make its position clear.

PUNCH Metro had reported last Thursday that Nkechi Omakagu lost her six-month-old pregnancy after being detained by KAI officials for violating the law which restricts movement during the compulsory environmental sanitation exercise on the last Saturdays of every month.

Omakagu, who said she was arrested while being rushed to Jolad Hospital, Gbagada, following complications related to her pregnancy, said she spent eight hours in KAI custody.

Our correspondent learnt that following a petition addressed to the state Attorney General’s Office, the OPD, a department under the Ministry of Justice, took up the case and all parties were invited.

A source, who was at the meeting, told our correspondent on the telephone that the KAI officials said they were not aware that Omakagu was pregnant and thought that she was pretending about her medical condition.

The source said, “When we met with OPD, the KAI officials, who had detained Nkechi (Omakagu), denied that she was pregnant and said even if she was, they did not know. The KAI men said they refused to let her go because whenever they arrested people on environmental sanitation day, there was always an excuse.”

It was learnt that due to KAI official’s claim, the OPD said it would be necessary for Omakagu to undergo a medical examination at a public hospital to determine if she was actually pregnant at the time she was arrested.

The source said, “She (Omakagu) had received treatment at a private hospital where she was also diagnosed with having premature contractions. It was also the hospital that evacuated the dead foetus from her womb. So what we were told was that for the sake of objectivity, a public hospital would need to carry out independent medical examination.

“It was said that based on the outcome of the medical examination at the public hospital, the government would be advised so it could determine the next line of action.”

The Director OPD, Omotola Rotimi, however, said she had not been briefed on the matter. But a senior employee at the agency confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone.

She said, “We want to establish if the lady’s pregnancy loss was caused by KAI’s detention or something else. Also, we want our doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to give us their own report for the sake of objectivity.

“If it is established that the victim lost her pregnancy due to the detention, then the KAI officials will be prosecuted.”

Meanwhile the government said the outcome of OPD’s investigation would lead to a quick resolution of the issue.

The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Lateef Ibirogba, in a statement on Sunday said although Omakagu contravened the law, the government was committed to the protection of lives and property as well as rights of every residents of the state.

Ibirogba said, “In order to set the record straight, it is pertinent to state that the said Nkechi Omakagu actually contravened the law and was apprehended and later released on the day.

“After her release, Nkechi Omakagu drew the attention of the Commissioner for the Environment to the issue, who immediately ordered an investigation to unravel her claim of alleged detention and extortion.”

The commissioner said before Bello’s instruction could be carried out, Omakagu had petitioned OPD and the Ministry of Justice, which took over the matter.

According to Ibirogba, the OPD has commenced full investigation into the matter and even invited the parties for interrogation on Friday.

He said, “As an administration that believes in the rule of law, Lagos State Government will await the outcome of the investigations.

“We remain committed to OPD’s handling of the issue. We advise all parties to subject themselves to the investigation by OPD as this will lead us to the quick resolution of the matter.

“This administration is committed to the protection of lives and property as well as rights of every individual within the ambience of the Laws of the land.”

From the warm hug, they appear like old friends.

But it was a different story in June 1997 when Mike Tyson bit off part of Evander Holyfield's ear during a fight.

The infamous confrontation appeared to be ancient history as the former boxers greeted each other at a promotional event for Holyfield’s Real Deal barbeque sauce at Chicago grocery store Jewel-Osco.
Almost 16 years on the pair seem to have no hard feelings but 50-year-old Holyfield was probably a little apprehensive about 46-year-old Tyson’s mouth going anywhere his head.
Tyson kept his teeth where they should be as he smiled while making contact with Holyfield at the photo call.

Putting his face out there as support for the brand, it was probably the best way Tyson could say sorry for the outlandish and aggressive attack at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas all those years ago.
Holyfield – who donned a white polo shirt - was also supported by Henry Tillman, heavyweight gold medallist at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Tyson – who has appeared in films such as The Hangover since reaches the height of success with his boxing career - just happened to be in town performing his one-man show when he popped by to help out with the launch.
He gushed: ‘I just wanted to see Evander, man. I love Evander. I'm forever linked with him for the rest of my life.’
His stage presentation documents his rise from Brooklyn's streets to the heavyweight championship and then fall from grace.
Even his former rival has seen it and thinks it reveals how much his has changed for the better.

‘The show is good. The show is showing his way of coming back, being able to come to an agreement, come to an acknowledgment of what he'd done good and what he'd done wrong and to get over it. When people don't get past their problems, they never come to an understanding.’
The act is being taken to 36 cities after a run on Broadway and features a part where Tyson acknowledges THAT moment with Holyfield.
Holyfield continued: ‘I think he was letting people know that he was wrong and what happened, happened. He appreciates that I forgave him. He's forgiven himself. That's how you make adjustments in life.’

Alarmed by polls showing one in four Thai teens will celebrate St. Valentine's Day by having sex, police plan to swoop on motels, malls and parks to ensure youths behave themselves on the "Day of Love".

The annual campaign to ensure good behavior on February 14 will see city officials turn on all lights at public parks in the capital Bangkok, while parents are urged to make sure their teenagers come home early.

Police and "student inspectors" from the Education Ministry will be checking discrete "curtain" motels to make sure youths under the legal age of 18 are not using them for amorous interludes.

"We will send patrols to check out public parks, restaurants and shopping malls, which are the starting points for potential sexual activities that will be done at home or motels," Bangkok police spokesman Suporn Pansuea said.

Thailand's moral guardians are taking action after an Assumption University poll showed 27 percent of 2,400 Bangkok teenagers surveyed said they might have sex on Wednesday.

Despite Bangkok's reputation as one of the world's sex industry centers, predominately Buddhist Thailand is generally a conservative country.

This year's St Valentine's Day celebrations have been tempered by a sluggish economy after two years of political strife and a 2006 coup, and nationwide mourning for King Bhumibol Adulyadej's sister who died in January.

Rose vendors have complained about sagging sales because people have less disposable income.

"I don't think we'll have robust sales this Valentine's Day," Den Yarum, a florist at Bangkok's main flower market, told the Thai-language Daily News.

A number of annual high-profile events, such as weddings conducted on mountain cliffs, underwater or in hot-air balloons, have been cancelled or postponed due to the 100-day mourning period for Princess Galyani Vadhana.

Bangkok's "District of Love", a city office where superstitious couples flock to register their marriages on Valentine's Day, will be open for business, but the ceremonies will be low key.

"People are still mourning Princess Galyani Vadhana so the activities will be simple, with an emphasis on her love for the people," district chief Pravit Panviroj said.

What You Should Be Doing If You’re Unemployed

Applying to jobs you’re not qualified for (which 50% of job seekers reportedly do!) is counter-productive to your job search. Competition is too fierce. Even qualified applicants aren’t getting callbacks. So, stop applying to so many jobs and allocate time each week to becoming more hirable. Here’s how…

1. Volunteer

Volunteering can increase your chances of being hired if you’re strategic about it. Unemployed teacher? Help out with after school programs or volunteer to be a coach’s assistant. Web designer? Find a local non-profit in desperate need of a re-design and offer your services pro bono. By volunteering somewhere relevant, you’ll keep your skills fresh while enhancing your resume.

2. Keep Your Skills Current

If you lack a skill commonly required for jobs you’re seeking, spend time each day building that skill. Take advantage of numerous free resources online, including tutorials, e-books, and how-to videos. If you’d rather have more of a class setup, then look for free or affordable adult education classes in your area. Alternatively, if you already possess the necessary skills but haven’t been practicing, the do so. Skill atrophy is a huge concern for hiring managers, so practice and get yourself ready for pre-employment skills tests.

3. Network

There are two parts to networking: reconnecting with your old contacts and forming new ones. Depending on where you are in your career, reconnecting might mean contacting professors, college advisers, and internship supervisors, or it might mean getting in touch with old colleagues, bosses, and business acquaintances.

Find them, e-mail them, call them. Ask them to coffee. Ask how they are (networking is social, after all) and let them know the specifics of your job search (industry, location, etc.). See if they know of anything or anyone.

Most importantly, follow up!

At a temporary dead-end with your current contacts? Make new ones. Go to networking events sponsored by your university, industry, city, and so on. And look beyond traditional networking events. Consider going to lectures, neighborhood council meetings, even community bar crawls (go easy on the sauce). Each of these provides an opportunity to meet people with similar interests, and you can have fun in the process.

4. Freelance

Some job seekers are opposed to anything that’s not a full-time job. If this sounds like you, it’s time to change your mindset. Freelancing is a great way to boost your skills, resume, portfolio, professional network, income, and confidence. Search for freelance openings here.

5. Build An Online Presence

Get found online. Start a blog, spruce up your social network profiles, create an online portfolio to showcase your work. Find companies you’re interested in working for, subscribe to their blogs, and follow them on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. Find decision-makers at those companies and follow them as well. Learn what they’re talking about, do a little research, and then engage with them online. Impress them with your interest and insights.

Worst case scenario — you’ll learn what’s important to them and use this information to customize your application when a job opens up.

Better case scenario — you’ll establish a rapport with someone who will recommend you for a position and/or tell you about unpublished openings.

Best case scenario — you’ll impress someone so much over time that they’ll create a job for you or bring you in for an exploratory interview.

A 200-year-old law forbidding women to wear trousers in Paris has finally been revoked.

On January 31, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, France's minister of women's rights, made it officially impossible to arrest a woman for wearing trousers in the French capital.
The law required women to ask police for special permission to "dress as men" in Paris, or risk being taken into custody.
In 1892 and 1909 the rule was amended to allow women to wear trousers, "if the woman is holding a bicycle handlebar or the reins of a horse."
The law was kept in place until now, despite repeated attempts to repeal it, in part because officials said the unenforced rule was not a priority, and part of French "legal archaeology."
In July however, in a public request directed at Ms Vallaud-Belkacem, Alain Houpert, a senator and member of the conservative UMP party, said the "symbolic importance" of the law "could injure our modern sensibilities," and he asked the minister to repeal it.

Yesterday former president Olushegun Obasanjo publicly told the world that Gen. Muhammadu Buhari is an upright man. Not many people know that his 1st daughter is married to an Igbo man from Anambra. He exempted Christians from performing duty on Sundays.

When his Muslim soldiers asked him to exempt them from duty on Friday, he told them the bible says Christians should rest on the 7th day, the Muslims should show him where the Koran says they should rest on Fridays.

As head of state he slashed the number of Muslim going on pilgrimage by 50%. His driver and cook for the past 10 years plus are Christians yet some uninformed Nigerians say he is a bigot. It is a pity that some people failed to understand that PDP deliberately capitalised on the gullibility of Nigerians to paint him black. This they did in order to keep their loot and ensure that he never gets the opportunity to send them to gaol.

How many Nigerians would hold the appointment of government, minister of petroleum, PTF chairman and head of state yet don’t own a house in Abuja? Love him, hate him you cannot take his integrity away from him.

Well done Gen Muhammad Buhari. You have stood the test of time and character with a swagger. It is time we set the record straight.

18. Always be happy, no one is safe around a gloomy person.
19. Do not forget to use social media like BB, facebook and their cousins.
20. Do not 'shit' on facebook or other social media, it's your online identify, symbolising you.
21. Let your smiles be natural, fake smile cannot endure time.
22. Organise seminars, workshop and teach importance of what you stand for.
23. Give to charity, and never overspend your income
24. Plan every transaction, too much of unnecessary transactions harms the business, yes, either results to selling at high prices or eroding your profit.
25. Keep eyes on expansion. Never settle for ordinary level.
