Good day Sir, just to let you know that I already have netBeans 5.0 running on my system, and its bundled with tomcat. So do I still need to set the class cariable as mentioned? I was also going to ask you how to remove depracation warnings in netBeans. tanx have a good one.

whats just to let you know that the second class will not COMPILE, because you can make reference of a non static variable in a static block

public class Testing{
public static int age = 3;

public static void main (String[] args){
System.out.println( age);
}
}

}

in the first class the variable was declared to be static so it could be referenced from a static block , where as in the second instance the variable isnt static so cannot be access from a static block .

I just want to appreciate Mimoh for being such a wonderful person, I think I should say God sent, this is one fellow that has quietly contributed so much to the Nigerian programming Community. Programming is more of an ART, and of course you know artist get a lot of exposure from exhibitions, so does a programmer. One thing people fail to understand is that you can’t know it all particularly in programming even within your own language. So sharing is more like a booster b’cos, it helps you simulate more, and of course popular your LANGUAGE gets, the more valuable your SKILL & EFFORT becomes. So sharing is very necessary.
Well to cut the long story short, I was in Lagos with Mimoh, we just met physically for the first time. I must confess I was overwhelmed by his hospitality not forgetting his giving spirit. We had a nice timeout then went back home working from dusk to dawn. He give me full access to his WORK STATION, as well dozens of soft wares not forgetting e-books, then another book in Hard copy as a souvenirs. I know a lot of peeps think that most java dev soft wares are open source, but then how many people can take the pains downloading those large files, just to run a charity project. I feel BLESSED, really BLESSED you know. I also want to duff my hat for Sbucareer, He has violated distance, so much so that it’s so obvious that the world looks every bit like the global village that it actually is. PLS CAN THIS GUY’S BE OUR ROLE MODELS AT LEAST IN THE ACT OF SHARING. You will all be surprised at the progress we will make in a short while. So so all the best. May our Mighty GOD crown our every effort with enormous success.

How is the going, pls I was thinking of reformating my hard disk then reloading Xp then the JDK to see what happens , another option I was looking at, was using MacOS(tiger) since it comes with the tiger I feel this problem shouldnt come up, so what do you think pls I really want to know b'cos I havent being doing anything ever since this ugly problem came up.

thanx for your speedy reply, On the issue of "main method" thats not d problem, I do not use any IDE, the issue is this, things were running very fine till this problemb came up, so I was amazed, to see this error even on all other codes that ran just fine , well I will go and try your suggestion then holla back at u .Or do u this I should just get and IDE to work with? if yes which one do you recommend,

Please is any one aware of this  error message -Exception in thread "main" java.lang noClasssDefFoundError; Class name,  my compiler just started behaving fuuny i was compiler and ruuning from text pad all of a sudden this error message popped up even for classes that compiled and ran successfully, i went back to my coomand prompt only to get the same meesage , i even uninstalled my jdk, reinstalled but the same error applies. please what do i do to get out of this ditch, thanx have a good one.
