Good morning wonderful folks. Happy new month. In the spirit of Nigeria's independence celebration, let's look at another exciting application of EPS in buildings. This time we'll be exploring its use as walls.
EPS can be used as both partition walls and load bearing walls. And they're usually reinforced with either steel meshes or steel sheets.
There are 3 main types of EPS walls;

Singly Reinforced Panels : These are mainly used as partition walls,and comprise of an EPS core with welded steel mesh reinforcements on both sides. After installation the exterior mesh reinforced surface is sprayed with mortar and the result is a strong tough sound proof, moisture proof, and thermal insulated wall.

Doubly Reinforced Panels : These can be used as external walls or load bearing walls. It's basically two singly reinforced wall panels fused together with more steel welds. The core or middle however is hollow which allows for fresh concrete to be poured inside after instalation. The exterior mesh reinforced surface is also sprayed with mortar and the result is a strong tough sound proof, moisture proof, and thermal insulated wall.

Sandwich Panels: These are walls made by fusing either steel or aluminum sheets to the EPS naked panel. They're usually used for partitioning, and also in erecting mobile housing units.

Hello. I simply used those as illustrations to show how EPS installations are done for buildings that are to carry roof beam. Even in the image you can clearly see the "image credit" where I clearly credited it to Teewhy which simply means I'm not claiming ownership of the images. So I don't understand your reservations. If you've gone through the page you'll see I'm not lacking in pictures in any way. My pictures of that particular installation procedure however were lost as at the time the post was made. Thanks

I think am liking this light weight technology. What do u think is the best time to install EPS? Before or after roofing assuming it's a one story building. I noticed it requires bamboo construction to get them on.

EPS parapet can be installed at any time, but the best time is before roofing.
Immediately after block work, install your wall plate and EPS parapet is ready to be installed.
Yes it does require scaffolding for the installers to stand on and be able to reach the height of the roof to install the EPS parapet.

1:2:4 is a batching /mixing ratio which show the portion of cement: fine aggregate: coarse aggregate. I.e 1bag of cement : 4portion of sharp sand: 8portion of granite. You either batch by weight or volume. But most on site it is by volume, only batching plant batch by weight.

A few more EPS window hoods and wall belting previous jobs

So finally let's discuss EPS window hoods. EPS hoods come in different designs and shapes and sizes. Several advantages include :
*Lightweight window hoods

*Very fast installation time, one single worker can completely install and tidy up up to 10 windows in a single working day. Also installation is relatively clean and non messy.

*Great designs, from simple designs to complex designs can be achieved with EPS window hoods.

You would notice I didn't include cheaper price than cement. This is because from experience sometimes EPS hoods run into about the same price range as its cement counterparts, and sometimes more depending on the design (especially for the luxury complex designs). So in order words it can be cheaper, or the same price, or a bit more expensive. Everything depends on the design of the EPS window hood.
I choose to be honest I'm this regards so that potential clients would be well informed before opting to use EPS hoods. You get the other great advantages of EPS window hoods, and your windows will definitely stand out with the various designs we have available.

Good afternoon my lovely people. Hope you all have been doing great.
We're sorry for the long break in transmission.. Sorry I mean communication of this transmission commission.
We have indeed been busy with some construction projects here and there. Well we'll resume our EPS enlightenment discussion with some posts about EPS window hoods. But before then let me share with you an EPS parapet project we did recently where the client didn't cast roof beam. But yet the EPS was installed very firmly and properly reinforced.
As you can see from picture 3, the EPS was reinforced in 3 areas.

1. It was tied firmly to the block wall and the column reinforcements(which were later casted with concrete)

2. It was tied to the wall plate as well.

3. "L" shaped reinforcements were driven through the block into the EPS, then that part of the EPS was removed (see picture 2) and replaced with concrete mortar,(which is the casting you see at intervals along the EPS in picture 3). This in turn effectively adds to its rigidity and firmness.

Nothing can shake this building's EPS parapet...unless this building falls before the EPS can fall with it.

In the previous post I shared how EPS parapet is installed in a building that has roofing beam, so this time I'm making this post to elaborate how EPS parapet can be installed without roof beam.

Like I said this is just one way of installing EPS parapet.
If your building for example has been roofed already and you still want to install EPS parapet it is still very much doable. This is one of the great advantages of EPS parapet. It's flexibility.

Hello everyone. Hope you all had an awesome weekend. We at Front Line Contractors define a great weekend as what follows after we have successfully delivered our projects/orders to the delight and maximum satisfaction of our clients/customers. So today as promised in the last post we shall discuss the installation procedure for EPS parapet.

Now EPS parapet can be installed at any stage between roof beam level and even a completely roofed house.
If the house will not carry a roof beam(like most bungalows) it can be installed after the final course of block work Our focus today however will be installation during the roof beam stage.
Bear in mind that at this stage the reinforcements for the beam must have been laid and the internal form work also in place..The EPS parapet acts as an external permanent form work for the roof beam.
Materials Needed : binding wire(preferably galvanized steel binding wire), Nails, Leveling Instrument, Saw, glue powder&cement mixture.

1) the first stage of installation will be to find level around the building using leveling instrument and marking using line or plywood for example as shown in the first pic

2) second will be attaching the parapet to the wall by tying the biding wire through the body of the parapet or using nails to secure the binding wire inside the parapet. The holes created will be sealed permanently using the glue powder & cement mixture.
This is done at intervals along the perimeter of the building, say every 0.6m or 1m

3) third will be tying the binding wire to the roof beam reinforcements

4) fourth and finally will be the casting of the roof beam which holds everything securely in place. Finally all the joints and any dents left on the EPS during installation are dressed and permanently sealed with the glue powder & cement mixture. What you have at the end of the day is a strong, durable, straight cut, zero error parapet.

A parapet installed this way will never falter unless the building itself collapses.
