Gistmedia10: A unique ceremony at a church in New York, where a wide variety of animals—from cats and dogs to donkeys and parrots, and more—were blessed by the priest, has ignited heated debates online. Known as the "Blessing of the Animals," the event is intended to celebrate the bond between humans and their pets, and it left many pet owners feeling joyous and fulfilled.
However, the event sparked mixed reactions from netizens, with many calling it a sign of the end times. One commenter wrote, "What Christ told us to do, we won’t do, but we focus on things completely unrelated to the Word of God. God will continue to have mercy . . . but the end will surely come." Another said, “These people don’t really have problems in life.”
Despite the criticism, there were those who saw beauty in the ceremony, with one user expressing, "This is beautiful. If you have a pet, you'll understand how much joy this brings to owners." Another added, "Blessing the animals brings people together in love and gratitude for our furry friends."
While the tradition brought smiles to many, it also reignited conversations about its religious significance, with some interpreting it as a troubling sign of the times.
Keaton: I like the fact that you're honest. But quite frankly, I've vowed not to support anyone that supports or have supported Tinubu. I'm not in Nigeria, but the exchange rate tells me everything I need to know. You people collectively wrecked Nigeria and what's even worse is that you have still refused to admit that your electoral choices were wrong. I'm sorry bro, look elsewhere. Thanks.
Reason: Hezbollah is a Shia Islamic political/militant group with representative in Lebanese Govt. The Sunis in the region are indirectly happy that Israel caging the Shia expansion in the region. The adage the enemy of my enemy is my friend. That's the situation. Hence Saudi Arabia, Egypt, did not put mouth in the matter.
In the end they Lebanon and Iran will call for a cease fire and diplomatic solution. But it will be on Israel terms
God1000: I hope this will not set the entire region on fire, there's a reason some of us are calling for peace and diplomatic solution to crisis in the middle east
What of SouthEast? These are the issues. South East has suffered a lot too. (Bad roads, erosion, insecurity, poverty, health issues (cancer, diabetes etc)
What about other regions? North Central and southwest?
Where is Sheikh Gumi. He knows them very well. In fact he has been to their enclaves. Let the north continue to pamper rubbish by romancing with these terrorists called bandits. They are aided and abaited by some of their leaders.
Some local govt areas in Katsina are in total control of the Bandits. The same place Buhari came from. Let them continue.
I love your explanation. Very apt. My Questions are:
1. Why don't we produce fuel? And if we do will the "landing cost" for a price of litre be 1,200?
2. I learnt that fuel is cheap in Libya, Venezuela, Iran, Saudi Arabia. If we decide to import fuel from these nations will the landing cost still be at 1200 per litre?
3. Has the Government or Nnpc come out to tell us the breakdown of how the landing cost amounts to 1,200 per litre?
4. We are hearing subsidy all the time who brought about subsidy, when was it introduced and to whom are these subsidies paid to?
Kindly explain pls.
Hope to hear from you. Thanks
nairalanda1: IN theory, any one can import fuel, and infact the government has approved several importers ...private importers to do so.
The problem is, the landing cost of fuel is N1200 approx. Anyone importing fuel has to sell above that price to the marketers and depots to see a profit.
But since government stopped paying subsidy claims to private importers in 2016/17, that means any one importing fuel has to sell to marketers at N1200 and the same marketers have to sell above that...to end consumer...for enough profit to be made for the importers to import more fuel
NNPC On the other hand, imports fuel at N1200 per liter, sells to marketers at N700 and (in theory, somehwat in practical)...gets compensated by government via a subsidy, for doing so.
Independent and private importers don't have that benefit....so they cannot compete with NNPC at all.
If an importer wants to compete with NNPC, they would have to sell fuel to marketers below N700 per liter...but that means they would lose money doing so, and since government won't compensate them, they can't compete with NNPC.
Result....no one wants to import fuel in a private capacity, until government removes subsidy to NNPC, thereby forcing the NNPC to sell fuel above N1200 to marketers...which means that fuel prices will start from N1400 or more per liter (and APC government would be removed by 2025, and replaced with a more compliant government).
The op may have his bias. However he is objective. The truth is if this happens from a state in South East, the bashing will be more than this forgetting that people in South east will condemn such act. True
Politics aside, South east is passing through a lot, same as north. What we all want is peace and geniune fairness and justice.
All the agitation we have in this country is as a result of bad governance. Past adminstration starting from 1999 even before 1999 has failed woefully. If things are right in the first place there won't be need for Agitation.
See south south the killing of the Ken Sarowiwa, The rise of MEND, MASSÖB and so on. The rise of bôkô haram in the north, rise of the Bandit (térrôrîst) and so on. Some were given amnesty while others killed. It's about justice and fairness my brother. Unfortunately too many people have died. How many much more deaths will it take us all to know that too many people have died trying to fight for what they think is right to them while to others it's wrong. May God help us all
Penguin2: When somebody like Peter Obi cites rule of law as one of the most important intangible assets needed to set Nigeria on the right path, people who are used to doing things anyhow and flouting rule of law will not understand it.
Now, see how a flagrant disregard for rule of law by Ibukunle Amosun when he was Ogun Governor has brought the entire country an international embarrassment.
Governor Gbenga Daniel signed an agreement with a Chinese Firm before he left in 2011. When Amosun came in, instead of respecting the existing agreement, arbitrarily cancelled it.
The result of that foolish decision is the reason Nigeria is facing international embarrassment today.
But have you imagined if this was caused by a Southeast State; say Abia, Enugu or Anambra. You can only imagine what the people who like to hate Southeast would have said.
But since it’s Ogun, they have all lost their voices and covering their faces in shame.
Amosun must have thought he would get away with it like they do when they get INEC to write results.
The problem in Ogun has been there since the time of Obasanjo/Yaradua it lingered till Johnathan and then to Buhari.
I look at this from 2 perspectives
1. Chinese are very shroud and wicked. When they gave Nigeria loans and the Yuan currency swap I knew that they will try to get a way to get back at Nigeria once the loan defaults
2. The reckless behaviours of state Governors when going into bilateral agreement and when obtaining loan from international bodies.
To be candid Ogun state government brought Nigeria into this mess especially Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun
shortgun: What happened in ogun state is exactly how Tinubu is currently being reckless with our nation's common wealth. The future of Nigeria is at stake!
This is one of the reasons we advocate to have only rational people with common sense occupy political offices but they will call us names and claim to be sophisticated only to place inept individuals in positions of power.
This is the 'blue screen of death'. It signifies that the Operating system is corrupt.
Reasons/causes: 1. Newly installed software update/ driver 2. Incomplete Windows update 3. Virus/ Trojan 4. Improper shut down of system
Solution: Roll back any recent windows update/ software
If it's not working reinstall the windows os.
Note: Be careful when formatting and installing os on some recent system because the system may not detect hard disk if not properly formatted especially recent system 10-12 gen system.
Kalatium: I woke up 2 days ago and noticed my laptop is showing me this. I haven't used it for a week so I am wondering what could have been wrong here.
Today is even the worst. Once it starts booting and it will shut down. It will keep booting and shutting down by itself.
It's rash. Possibly as a result of allergies from water or the food you eat. It's nothing to worry about.
Phoenix990: Hello nairalanders I just saw this on my leg this morning is it an std or just an allergy is bringing out transparent liquid when I scratch it
Aldol: Dont stress yourself,no amount of preaching can change their hate towards Yoruba people. The Catholic church bombing in Ondo iz still fresh in our minds where they are jubilating over the deaths only to find out latee that most casualties are from their region. Ibo people are hate filled people, they hate even themselves
My Brother, the catholic church bombing was carried out by terrorist. May God almighty help us overcome all these insecurities. My advise is that the southwest governors should come together and invest more in technology to tackle these crimes and there should be political will. There should be death sentence to kidnappers once they are confirmed to be kidnappers. There should be reward for credible information regarding movement armed bandits.
