Onitsha archdiocese has some dioceses in chad, kenya, togo and cameroun they send money to monthly.
If u think you're being extorted, change to another church and stop castigating the Catholic church.

The money doesn't go to Rome before being sent to poor dioceses in Africa and other poor countries; rather the office in Vatican that's in charge of it makes sure it gets to them.
My grandfather and grandmother went to Catholic schools in the early '30's before they got married and they didn't pay a peny for it. The missionary priests built a church in my village which was from the money sent from Rome.

The Catholic church in Nigeria is mature enough to sustain itself and help grow other churches in Africa. A priest friend of mine was sent to Chad and he's still there helping the poor church in that area. The archbishop of Onitsha sends money to him and other priests there to help in educating and preaching to those people. The money being sent there is part of the money you assume is being squandered in Rome.
