A 35-year-old man, Nuhu Abubakar, is currently being detained the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kaduna State Command for selling a substance, popularly known as “soak and die.” Abubakar was said to have been arrested while in possession of a 25 litre gallon of the soak and die. He was paraded alongside other 17 suspects who were arrested for various crimes, ranging from drug addicts to drug dealers. Speaking to newsmen while parading the suspects at the NDLEA premises in Kaduna, the State Commander, Mr. Samuel Azige, said the suspects were arrested in various spots when his men carried out a raid. Azige said about 42 kilograms of cannabin’s sativa, 41 psychotropic substances, 20.3 litres of cough syrup, among others, were seized. According to him, “eighteen suspected drug dealers, abusers and distributors have been arrested and detained by the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency, Kaduna State Command. “The Agency raided Warri streets, Kakuri, Black streets in Sabo Tash in Kaduna South, Kawo and some parts of Rigasa in Kaduna North, which enabled them to arrest and confiscate such substances. “Also about forty-two kilograms of cannabis sativa, forty-one psychotropic substances, twenty-point-three litres of cough syrup, and twenty-five litres of succodie were seized and recovered during the operation. “Most of the cannabis seized were concealed in a latest and modern way. When you see it, nobody would know that it is cannabis sativa. In fact, you will think it is souvenir just wrapped to give to somebody as gift. Because it won’t smell and there is no need for you to suspect that drug has been concealed inside it. They are devising means everyday to be ahead of the security agencies,” he said. The State Commander, however, said that the arrested suspects were now under investigation and that those that were found guilty would be charged to the Court. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekit State has expressed worry over inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible and conclusive elections since the advent of the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) government. The governor, who reacted to the alleged manipulation of the Imo North Senatorial election, which was declared inconclusive, said “democracy in Nigeria is being threatened by INEC and this should call for national and international reflection.” Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka quoted the governor as saying that, “If we have done more than 15 elections since President Buhari assumed office and all ended inconclusive, it is obvious that we are tending towards anarchy. “It is becoming very clear that votes of Nigerians are no longer allowed to count under this APC government and one wonders if President Buhari would have been elected if the system then did not allow free and fair elections.” Governor Fayose said Nigerians should be more concerned with institutionalising democracy than the issue of who wins election, adding that, “The only duty the APC government owes Nigerians is to allow for a system that will make them to be able to elect their leaders freely. “This system was created and allowed to flourish by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government. The APC, which is obviously desperate to hijack power at all levels through open manipulation of the electoral process must know that preventing people’s votes from counting is a clear invitation to anarchy. “As it is, APC stalwarts are using security agents to unleash violence on Nigerians during elections because they know that the president won’t lift a finger provided his party members are the ones perpetrating electoral evil.” The governor said the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu should be worried about the image of the electoral commission under him. While urging INEC to be mindful of its importance to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria, Governor Fayose said the electoral body must maintain its independence and impartiality at all times. “Nigeria was already getting that important aspect of democracy, which is election right before the advent of this APC government and the government, especially INEC should be mindful of what history will present concerning them,” said Fayose. The head pastor of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet TB Joshua has disclosed that God is the secret behind his powers. He said he could not have succeeded in using demonic powers to deceive foreigners flocking into his church. Stressing that his mission would not be thriving if it wasn’t from God, he told TheNEWS that: “Right now I am talking to you, there are over 400 foreigners from 10 different countries here. Are these people being deceived, destroyed or killed (as my detractors alleged)? If I have been using occultic power, the congregation here will not increase. If my mission here is not of God, it won’t stand just as Gamaliel said.” “When people have their problems solved or they have salvation, they tell others,” the prophet added. Reacting to critics who insist he uses demonic or occult power, Joshua shared from the Act of Apostles thus: “the early Christian preachers were being disturbed by the Pharisees, Sadducees and the High Priests in the Synagogue and the Temple in Jerusalem. “But among the elderly religious Jews was a man called Gamaliel, a doctor of the law. He quoted the example of Theudas who boasted to be somebody and who attracted over 400 men. He was slain and his followers scattered. “Gamaliele cited example of Judas of Galilee (not Iscariot) who rose in the days of the taxing. He attracted many people, but he perished while his adherents were dispersed. Those were in the days when Israel was under Roman colonialism. “Gamaliel, therefore warned the Jewish, elders. ‘Refrain from these men (Christian preachers) and let them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of men, it will come to nought. But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it, yet, haply ye be found to be even to fight against God’ (Acts 5:38-39, King James Version). “So, if I am not of God, I will not survive this trial. But if I am of God, this trial will not destroy me. Trial is the soil in which faith flourishes. God sees his own people through trial.” http://www.gisthood.com/2016/07/finally-tb-joshua-reveals-secret-behind.html?m=1

The Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna Youth Peoples Union (SOKAPU), Saturday issued a serious warning to Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai to re-consider the planned demolition of Gbagyi Villa, a community with over 4,000 structures in Kaduna metropolis. The youths who were viciously angry condemned the planned action, wondering why the governor was desperate to demolish an entire community while the case was still pending in a court of competent jurisdiction. The SOKAPU National Youth Co-ordinator, Comrade Nasiru Jagaba while speaking at the stakeholders meeting organized by the group on Saturday in Kaduna, said that “it is obvious the governor wants blood, as he is so desperate to go ahead with the demolition plan.” He warned that if even one building was touched, the situation could get ugly. His comment was greeted with cheers from the other youths who in their support for the speaker, almost made the meeting rowdy. The youths urged the governor to give peace a chance, saying his action might degenerate into unpalatable consequences that may affect the peaceful co-existence currently being enjoyed. “I pray this issue can be addressed peacefully because we love our state, so we can go about our duties without fear. If anything happens, it would take us years back from the gains we have made at ensuring peace,” he added. Source:http://www.gisthood.com/2016/07/blood-willl-flow-if-you-demolish-any.html?m=1 Source:

Man U has agreed to pay Juventus amassive £105m fee for France superstar Paul Pogba and will hand him a five-year contract worth £210,000-a-week after tax, accordingto the Sun UK. After failing with an initial offer of £90m, the Premier League club havefinally agreed to match the asking price of Juventus to get their man. The Old Trafford giants' executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward agreed the deal with Juve directors Giuseppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici, as well as the player’s agent Mino Raiola on Wednesday in Manchester. Pogba has already reportedly informed the landlord of the house he rents in Turin that he will be leaving. If the transfer is completed barring any last hiccups, Paul Pogba will become the most expensive player in the world surpassing past record holders Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. Raiola has convinced his 23 year oldclient Paul Pogba to rejoin the club he left for next to nothing in 2012 after two seasons because of a lack of first-team opportunities under then-boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Asked about United earlier this month during an interview with ESPN in Spanish, Pogba replied: “It was my first family.” Man U manager Jose Mourinho is currently in Shanghai with the rest of the United squad on their tour of China, but has been kept up to speed with all the latest developments in the transfer. Federal government has scrapped the common entrance examination into federal government colleges. The announcement was made on Monday, July 18 by minister of education, Adamu Adamu. This came as former minister of education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, yesterday, stressed the urgent need to overhaul the education system in the country to avoid total collapse ofthe sector.A statement issued by the federal ministry of education yesterday in Abuja, said the cancellation of the test for NCCE would take effect fromthe 2017/2018 academic year. The statement signed by the deputy director, press, Bem Goong, said the minister could not establish the rationale for a second test for NCCE organised by the National Examination Council (NECO).Mr Adamu was quoted as saying:“The second test is an unnecessary additional financial burden on parents/guardians”.“The era of multiple examinations attracting prohibitive fees cannot be accommodated by the Buhari administration, especially against the backdrop of government’s determination to increase access to education as a platform for breakingthe cycle of poverty,” the statement read.It said Adamu had directed NECO to strengthen its examination processes with a view to achieving quality and credible examination for admission into unity schools at the first test. The statement said the minister argued that multiple examinations did not necessarily translate to the admission of quality pupils in secondary schools. Adamu maintained that the 2016/2017 academic year remained the effective date for the ban on Post-UTME, advising vice-chancellors to adhere strictly to the policy in the overriding public interest.Meanwhile, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, yesterday, stressed that a change was needed urgently in the educational sector.Ezekwesili made the statement at the 2016 Nigerian Education Innovation Summit organised by Education Partnership Centre (EPC) in Abuja. She said education left in the hands of policy makers was problematic. “Systems are very important; when you have system, then you have a higher probability of good outcomes.“If your systems are not functional, then you would need to overhaul them, because dysfunctional systems, can’t give you any good outcome. “When we talk about education, you have to look at it as a system that has input, output, outcome and yourmeasurement of the impact that the outcome really stand for. “When you do that, you will realise that we have been in serious troublesince the time that I was even Minister of Education. The Managing Director of EPC, Dr Modupe Adefeso-Olateju, urged the federal government to scale up educational intervention in Nigeria and ensure every child in Nigeria benefited from it.“Every stakeholders in the sector must ensure that every child in Nigeria benefits from successfully tested education interventions by focusing on efforts to scale up impact,’” he said. http://www.gisthood.com/2016/07/breaking-fg-scraps-common-entrance-into.html
