Batch process automation is as interesting as it is intriguing when considering feeding raw/semi raw material from one end of a production process and getting a finished product from the other end ![]()

the knowledge of PLC is important particularly in the oil and gas industry where Field facility has to be monitored and controlled for safety and emergency shut down

Rocktop Safety services Nigeria Limited in conjunction with advanced Center for Engineering Career and Technology (ACECATECH) as part of their Easter promo is offering an incredible discount of 60% on PLC automation training in addition to a free HSE training(bonus package). The extensive practical PLC training will cover most of the popularly used PLC vendors in Nigeria such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, Ge Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Omron, ABB, etc. Also our trainee will be drilled in all IEEE 1131-3 standard such as LD, FBD, IL, SFC and ST and more. It will also be practical and application based as we are going to carry out typical PLC based application in the oil and gas, packaging, food and beverage/bottling, petrochemical, power, etc industries About the Automation Training In recent times automation is increasingly taking over the industrial production systems and processes prompting a high demand for skilled automation engineers and technicians. Many industrial production systems and processes that were once manually run are now mostly automated. There is hardly any well established industry that does not employ automation in one form or the other. For instance, in the oil and gas industry automation is employed to control the flow, level, etc of petroleum product in a process control system. In the bottling industry automation is employed in the filling, cocking and packaging processes. In the power industry automation is normally deployed and utilized in the monitoring and control of power system parameters. The list goes on to include petrochemical, pharmaceutical, Food & beverage, packaging, automobile, chemical, Robotics, Marine, Agricultural, utility, Telecommunication, etc. in fact, it is projected in the business circle that a time will come when industrial production system and processes will be completely automated thus making automation personnel kings in the industry. This trend no doubt is catching up with the times faster than expected. PLC an acronym which stands for programmable logic controller is the most widely used microprocessor based control system in the industry. It is a special computer specifically designed and fortified to handle control problems in the industry. It works in conjunction with sensors which serves as feedback to the process or machine and can be likened as the eyes of the PLC. The signals from the sensors are analyzed and controlling actions taking by the PLC on the process/machine according to the stored program of instruction in the memory of the PLC. The PLC ensures consistency, efficiency, economy and safety in the industrial production system and processes. Who need this training The training is specifically for Engineers, technologist and technicians as well as those with science background PLC Automation Training Module Module I: Introduction to PLC Basic concept of automation PLC definition, evolution, advantage and application PLC system types, vendors and product series Practice and exercise Module II: PLC Hardware and Software PLC System Hardware Component PLC internal Architecture PLC software Practice and Exercise Module III: Input and output Devices Concept of sensors PLC Input devices (Limit Switches, Proximity switches, Photo sensors, encoders, pressure switches, temperature switches, etc) PLC output devices (motors, Relays, valves, solenoid, etc) Practice and exercise Module IV: PLC Input/output processing Input/output unit data processing Signal conditioning PLC remote connection and network PLC scan time and addressing Practice and exercise Module V: PLC programming I Introduction to IEEE 1131-3 standard (LD, FBD, IL, SFC and ST) Ladder logic programming (LD) Function Block Diagram programming (FBD) Practice, Simulation and Exercise Module V: PLC Programming II Instruction List programming (IL) Sequential function chart Programming (SFC) Structured Text (ST) Practice, simulation and exercise Module VII: PLC special programming functions and applications Internal and master control relay Jump and call function Timer, Counter, shift register, Arithmetic and close loop analogue function Practice, simulation and exercise Module VIII: Practical Designing of PLC Systems Program development from control narrative PLC fault finding and troubleshooting PLC commissioning PLC safety PLC system Documentation Practice, simulation and exercise Module IX: Practical program examples and simulation Temperature control Control of a Process Robotic control systems Valve sequencing Practice, simulation and exercise About the free HSE Package Over 200 people are killed each year in accidents at work and over one million people are injured. Over two million suffer illnesses caused by, or made worse by, their work. So, preventing accidents and ill health caused by work should be a key priority for everyone at work. the perquisite for any job in most industries is a basic knowledge of Health safety and Environment. Rocktop safety Integrated services one of the leading names in HSE with ISPON membership of 2665 in conjunction with advanced Center engineering career and Technology are offering a free basic HSE training as a bonus for the PLC automation Training. Basic HSE Competency Course overview Course Objectives: At the end of this course Participants should be able to: • Understand the H&S legislations • Explain why H&S is important • Understand the risk assessment process • Recognise why H&S should be managed Course Contents: Importance of HSE Review of HSE Statistics HSE Legislations Accident / Incident Investigation Management of H&S at work Regulation Introduction to Risk Assessment Review of Some Hot Topics e.g. Stress Introduction to HSE MS System Course Review Final Course assessment The course shall commence by 18th of April, 2016 and will last for a Period of 4 weeks Cost: Venue: Rocktop Safety integrated Services Nig. the problem with Nigeria engineering as a whole is of multi facet dimension ranging from the lack of industrial base to an inconsistent national industrialization policies as well as non implementation of the national innovation system. you can not industrialize without having a functional steel and it allied industries, you can not industrialize without power, you can not industrialize without the academia-industrial linkages. that is why you may find fantastic student projects in higher institutions all laying fallow in the labs but you go to our markets you see similar gadget/device being imported from China and other Asian countries_____this is a case of having the technology but lacking in the materials, electricity, tools to mass produce it so that it can compete with its foreign counterpart in an open market settings. I still believe Nigerians have one of the most brilliant engineers in the world but they can do little to turn this brilliancy to some thing productive because of the prevailing circumstances militating against engineering in this country____ have you ever wondered why a lot of average 2.2 engineering graduate from Nigeria excel with a distinction in most UK post graduate degree program. believe me Nigeria engineers that are based abroad especially the states are really doing great things and among the best over their.they are doing great because they are in the an environment which have the necessary tech-eco system that was built on the tripod stand of academia-industry-innovation. |
