News filtering in has it that ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in Enugu State, the state’s caucus of the party is now divided over what they termed an attempt to impose Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. The handiwork of Senator Ayogu Eze is visible here. Nigeria Business Review gathered that to register their opposition on the choice of a consensus candidate, some prominent members of the PDP caucus in the state boycotted a meet¬ing held last Saturday, to register disapproval of what they described as the “brazen attempt by one man and a few people around him to impose Hon Ugwuanyi, who is an unpopular candidate on the party.” They ac¬cuse Governor Sullivan Chime of being behind the selection of Hon Ugwuanyi. Among the prominent party stalwarts, who did not attend the meeting are the Deputy Sen¬ate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu; former governor of old Anambra State, Sen. Jim Nwobodo, Sen. Fidelis Okoro, Rear Admiral Al¬lison Madueke, Chief Anayo Onwuegbu, former Information Minister, Frank Nweke Jnr; former Power Minister, Prof. Barth Nnaji, former Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Dubem Onyia, Senator Ayogu Eze, Senator Ken Nnamani, who was out of the country the day the meeting held, among many other prominent members of the caucus. Some of the leaders, it was gathered, said they would not offer themselves as willing tools for the simple reason of rubberstamping a handpicked candidate of the governor’s choice. Some of them, it was learnt, said they could not be fooled by the governor, who alienated himself from the people, for the better part of eight years. It was also gathered that those who stayed away from the Saturday meeting were unhappy when they were briefed that the first meeting, where Hon Ugwuanyi was picked, did not give room for those who had contrary view to speak. Ever since the picking of the consensus candi¬date,Senator Ayogu Eze, who is interested in becoming next governor, has been leading the campaign against Hon Ugwuanyi’s emergence. How long will Ayogu Eze go in this fight? He does not know that in his own local government, Igboeze-North, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is more popular that he is and will win him if the primary election is conducted. If he knows what is good for him, let him give Hon Ugwuanyi him maximum support. http://tectono..com/ |
Seven years after he registered as a student of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday returned to the same institution to enrol as MA/PhD student.Obasanjo, who received his admission letter at about 10.31a.m from the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof Israel Adu, urged NOUN management, his supervisors and lecturers to treat him as a mature student. He was taken through the admission formalities by Prof. Adu and registered to study MA/PhD in Christian Theology under the School of Arts and Social Sciences. Two of his supervisors were also introduced to him. They are Prof Isaac Ayegboyin, Head of Department of Religious Studies, University of Ibadan, and Dr. Philip Tachin, lecturer in Systemic Theology Department at NOUN. In 2007, immediately after he handed power to President Umaru Yar’Adua, Obasanjo enrolled as a postgraduate student at NOUN and in 2009, he bagged a postgraduate Diploma in Christian Theology. The former president’s latest registration was witnessed by principal officers of NOUN, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Nebath Tanglang, Registrar, Mrs. Josephine Akinyemi, the bursar, librarian as well as deans and other management staff of the institution. In his speech, NOUN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tenebe, who welcomed the former president on behalf of the governing council and the Senate, said: “When special people are involved, when passionate, sensitive and exemplary leaders whose leadership styles are people-oriented, committed and altruistic in words and in action, special attention and little celebration is in order as we are having this morning.’’ He described Obasanjo as a true father of the nation, stressing that it was not surprise that he was nicknamed ‘Baba’ by Nigerians. The NOUN boss who handed to Obasanjo, his admission letter, NOUN bags and other necessary documents, described him as a leader worthy of emulation for his quest to see to the development of the country through NOUN’s new technology in education. An elated Obasanjo after going through the admission formalities, recalled that in 2007, when he decided to enrol as a student of NOUN, he did it to acquire knowledge, in Christian Theology and not because he wanted to be a pastor. He urged the lecturers to treat him like other students and promised to obey the rules and regulations guiding his admission. http://tectono..com/ |
Nigeria Business Review has gotten wind of the alarm raised by Chief Ayogu Eze over an alleged attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State to intimidate him out of the 2015 governorship race in the state. In a statement signed by his legal adviser, Barrister Kingsley Onyeke, Chief Eze said that PDP has descended on him for daring to object to an attempt by the party to impose a predetermined candidate ahead of the November 29, 2014 governorship primaries in the state. The statement said, “It has come to our attention that party officials at the local government and ward levels are being coerced to sign prepared texts which were shipped down from Enugu alleging that they support the contrived consensus candidate of the party.’’ Arguing that election remains a distinguishing feature of any democracy, it wondered why the PDP in Enugu State is afraid of primaries which it said would afford the members of PDP in the state the opportunity to choose a candidate of their choice. Onyeke urged the party officials to resist any attempt by anybody to force them to sign documents sent to them by anybody, reminding them of the oath they swore – to provide a level playing field for aspirants to all positions in the state. He also appealed to the governor who is the leader of the party in the state to call the party to order and ensure that every aspirant is afforded a chance to run in the primaries. Restating his earlier objection of his candidate to any attempt to smuggle in a candidate for the party through the backdoor, Onyeke pledged its unflinching loyalty to the party and its leader in the state, His Excellency, Sullivan Chime. http://tectono..com/ |

It is a pity that many companies have paid hundreds of thousands of naira to print media houses to advertise their products and services and at the end; they did not achieve their aims. This is because newspapers from the media houses expire at the end of every day. It is very difficult to see people reading newspapers that published yesterday. So, if the target audience for your advert did not read the paper that day, they may not read it again. Besides, there are too many media houses in Nigeria that publish newspapers on a daily basis and your target audience cannot read all of them every day. So, what is the best and easiest medium to reach your target audience any day you like? Many business people do not know this. Packaging your company’s proposal/advert and sending them out to top CEOs and managers of blue-chip companies via their e-mail in-boxes ushers in an opportunity to give your brand, corporate image, products and services national coverage and visibility and rake in staggering amount of money in return from your target audience and would-be customers not yet known to you. E-mail marketing is the easiest and most affordable way of reaching your target audience and would-be customers within some minutes. Harvard Business Review has proven that email marketing has a far higher return on investment (ROI) than traditional advertisement and even the highly advocated social media adverts. E-mail marketing is fast becoming the most reliable and profitable marketing strategy in this country owing to the fact you will certainly get the target audience of your products and services. Each recipient of your e-mail campaign is more likely to patronize you. So, if you have not started using this strategy in your business, you are definitely missing a whole lot of patronage from prospective big clients. http://tectono..com/2014/08/tectono-ventures-ltd-presents-17000.html |
