When Rochas wants to build houses, most times he builds beautiful houses.

But when it comes to road construction, he will give the contract to Mama Ngozi Construction Company. Those people who use shovel and metallic buckets to construct roads grin

I strongly believe those blue buildings, if well investigated will be linked to his family. They have the same pattern like that of his wife in akachi road. That family is a very greedy family.

Is this development? I might be wrong, but we need development beyond malls. Come to think of it, the owner isn't Nigerian.

Peter Obi(PDP Vp candidate) owns it

I am yet 2 c the mall that will best everyday supermarket. Those guys are the best ,they might not be big brother,U will find whatever u are looking 4 there. Is only human part they don't sell.

Everyday super market with branches in Woji road GRA Portharcourt and their two big branches in ikenegu and World bank road Owerri, is a big player in the Mart industry, Atleast in the Old eastern axis. Igbos are actually trying by giving the multinationals like shoprite a run for their money through indigenous startups in the east.

Another Mart to watch out for is Roban Stores, as well as priceless stores, which are fast taking over the eastern region

I wasn’t attacking him, don’t misconstrue what I meant. I am also in his shoes, for me shopping in a mall is waste of cash when there are nearby super market or mini marts

After successfully opening its first mall in Abuja, indigenous brand “Next Cash and Carry”, is set to open its first branch in portharcourt, which will be Nigeria’s biggest shopping arena.

There are also plans to open other branches in Onitsha and Lagos.

Politics / Re: Ibo's Can't Rule Nigeria For Next 16years by TedExNairaland: 9:03am On Nov 19, 2018
royal200:
Following the political terrain of Nigeria, it's very glaring that Ibo's can't easily rule Nigeria for the next 16years.

Considering this Two scenarios
-- If Ibo's support atiku and he won, that means he will spend 8years as president, making the northern years of interrupted rule 12years and the next president will definitely be a westerner or even a northerner again.

--- if they support Buhari and he won, power is coming back to west after buhari second term. North will never align with east but if they support Buhari they have a high chance of raising the APC flag by 2023,although they can't win the primary election ( This is an agreement between the west and the north that produce buhari as president. ( Nnnadi kanu know this and that why he prefer a referendum)

Their minority title isn't helping them atall, an they look more divided between themselves..
Western Nigeria has the region producing the president by voting calculation since democracy.

This is my projection about the years to come In Nigeria political sphere.. .....

I am not in America. And you do NOT have to be in America to know that you must build a road with sidewalks and covered drains. Little Jamaica that I visited a few years back, if you go there, you will not see a single open gutter on any street. Every street has sidewalks, even in the poorest areas of Kingston and other cities. You will not see a single grain of sand on the streets. Jamaica is not a rich country. I think they export bauxite and maybe bananas, and that's it.

I don't see u telling demole all these, when posting pictures of osun or ileke, when posting pictures of Ibadan...

Funny enough, i have no problem with ur submissions. but making it an eastern problem then going ahead to make unrealistic comparison with western countries when ur backyard is Ibadan and Abeokuta also need same attention or advise is where you sold ursef out. Stay coded or Bleep out of this thread.

U have made ur point and it has been noted and thanks for that. If you have any positive thing to contribute to this thread, you are welcome.

I ALWAYS criticize roads and streets built without sidewalks, WHEREVER they are displayed. The Lagos people on NL have the GOOD SENSE not to post primitive roads with no sidewalks. I've never seen any main road built by a Lagos govt without sidewalks and covered drains for the past ten years. The eastern states still continue this primitive road building practice. Until you BLOCK HEADS learn that THIS is how a street should look in a civilized society, you will keep getting ridiculed, as you well deserve.

You are not complaining because you don't know any better, and you don't know your rights.

Because we know this is Nigeria... U are in America, an organised and sane society. Come to Nigeria and complain to ambode. You can be the change u want.

There has to be a NATIONAL STANDARD for all road construction. Any roads built in residential or commercial areas, which have open gutters and no sidewalks must be designated as roads that are STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Incomplete projects.

A citizen has the right to come out of his home and walk on a paved surface designated for pedestrians. It is not a luxury. It is a right. Our drains are supposed to be COVERED. You are not supposed to see any open gutters along your street or anywhere else. Apart from their unsightliness, they are dangerous to the health and well being of the people.

I have once suggested, its high time we had a road standard bill, which will stipulate design, the size, height, quality and materials for construction. It should also include side walkways, depth and width of underground drainage, underground electrification, road and traffic accessories like street lights, security cameras, trees and all.

So calm down, we know all these things, but our leaders are just below the intelligence belt, when it comes to governance and construction. Unfortunately, we can do less. Don't forget, this is Nigeria.

Why not show me a picture of a place in Lagos looking like this? And why use a foreign picture and not Lagos picture, or are u not proud of UE Lagos again?

Please don't shake this table. I am not ready for it. But if u insist, I will deploy my arsenal. I'm well travelled and i know what the different regions of Nigeria look like.

So if I want to walk along this road, where do I do it?

Many of our leaders are just plain dumb and stupid. Their followers are just as ignorant for the most part, which is why the leaders get away with building this primitive garbage. In their stupid minds, roads are only meant for cars. Pedestrians are not citizens of Nigeria. They can walk on the narrow sandy path, or inside the open gutter, for all our 'leaders' care. Yet these same leaders travel to Europe and America every day, and see how things are done. Useless fools.

But Seriously its a sad situation, but what can we do?

As usual, roads built with open drainage and no sidewalks for pedestrians.

GARBAGE.

This is Nigeria. That is one of the challenges we face with the crop of politians and contractors we have in this country. It is not peculiar to Owerri. All Nigerian cities have that challenge.

You can't talk of the sudden expansion of Owerri in the last 8 years without associating the expansion to Rochas who concentrated more than 90% of the common wealth of 3 senatorial zones on one zone;

and thus brought about the shrinking of Orlu and Okigwe under the 8 years of Rochas.

Pls this is not a thread for Rocha's politics. Owerri has always been ahead and expanded before Rocha's came. New Owerri is the brain child of Udenwa, clean and green was the brain child of ohakim, Owerri master plan was the brain child of Sam mbakwe. Rocha's only expanded some road and open up a few. And also built statues and round about. Rocha's is a failure by all standards. If at all the credit should go to all the private and individual developers, whose contributions have taken Owerri to a more respectable height in the the committee of cities by Nigerian standards.

Owerri still lack industries, most of the roads at the outskirts and drainage at the city center are bad, poorly constructed or non existent. So what is it that Rocha's has done for Owerri and has not done for orlu/ Okigwe that is paining u?
