Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, has called for total eradication of all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.

She made the call in her office in Alausa, Ikeja, while chatting with journalists on the occasion of this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Mrs. Ambode noted that violence against women and girls remained one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violence in the world, stressing that achieving gender parity would require more vigorous efforts and legal frameworks, to tackle established anti-female practices spread across socio-cultural and political landscapes.

According to her, “Everyone has the right to live their life without the threat of violence. This holds for everyone irrespective of age, gender, religion or any other characteristics of human identity.”

The sacking of Emmerson Mnangagwa was the beginning of the end of Mugabe’s regime in Zimbabwe. Tired and bored of a long rule, Zimbabweans jubilated at the slight news of the resignation of Mugabe.

Conceivably, Robert Mugabe did not see this coming when his Vice-President was sacked, the dismissal led the ruling party and the military to intervene and force an end to Mugabe’s long rule.

The 93-year-old wrote to the parliament on Wednesday announcing his intention to step down. This abruptly halted the impeachment proceedings against him. In his letter, he made known that his decision was voluntary and that he was resigning to allow smooth transition of power.

Thirty seven years, since Mugabe was sworn in as the president of Zimbabwe, yet he would have stayed on barred military intervention in the country.

Not Less than 2,500 structures erected under high tension cables and on location not included in the state’s master plan, have been demolished by the Lagos state Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, to rid the state of criminal hideout.

The structures were pulled down in Ijaiye, Ojokoro and Bode Thomas in Surulere where a ‘Dane-gun’ and wraps of illicit drugs, which worth could not be ascertained, were recovered from three occupants, Saka Lawal, Kausara Saka and Tawa Lawal, who have been detained for further interrogation.

It was learnt that the removal of illegal structures was ordered by the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, after several security meetings with Acting Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, on strategies to improve security within the state.

“Hazards of the clothes we wear”, on hearing this the first thing that crosses my mind is if the cloth we wear cause hazards to our health, I was not surprised when I asked a senior colleague and her response was “clothes can not be harmful”.

Due to curiosity I had to do some research, then I discovered that the clothes we wear are death trap in disguise ranging from the undergarments to the accessories.

Although, the hazards all boils down to fashion and the strive to look beautiful and attractive. Supporting this madness is a common saying that “fashion is pain”. Seriously it is not pain but “covering of unclothedness in an alluring way”.

Funny enough, we dine and wine with the risks associated with the oufits we put on also we notice some symptoms but all we do is neglect them knowingly or unknowingly.

Do you know that the fabrics used in making the clothes we wear are processed and made out of chemicals that distrupts the hormone, cause skin havok as well as increases the risk of getting cancer?, a typical example is that of one Susan MaKinley who purchased a bra at a store and wore it without washing it which later resulted to the growth of maggot in her breast.

more so, some of these clothes like the skinny jeans and waist trainers causes unbearable discomfort sadly we cope with the pain just to look “dope”.



Like I will always say fashion is to cover unclothedness and not a death sentence because most ladies just to wear a pair of jean trouser is like a mathematics equation where they need to calculate the time and speed at which a leg can enter a pair of the jean so as to avoid stress. Wearing the jean is struggle and pulling it is another battle all in the name of making the ass obvious.

Little do they know that when a jean is too skinny it reduces the blood supply to the body, twists testicles, prompts bladder weakness and triggers Urinary Tract Infections. On a lighter note, all the hazards attached to body hug jeans can be avoided if it is worn for a short period and opted for an elasticated jean that is not body hugging.

Still on the body hugging matter, shape wear is another silent killer that is a woman’s best friend. We tend to hide our shapelesness under these body shapers. Frankly, we can still look good without these life threatening body shapers. Women find it difficult to eat when they are in the waist trainer and they also find it hard to breath properly, body shapers decreases blood circulation in the body resulting to blood clot which flows to the lungs and brain that eventually leads to death, it damages the nerves, squeezes the internal organs and promotes infections.



The sincere advice is to not wear smaller body shapers and also wear these shapers for a very short time to live longer.

Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has recounted how he escaped a “potential plane crash” alongside those travelling with him.

The Lagos state police Command has recovered nothing less than 38 bags of Indian Hemp worth over 20 million naira in a raid on suspected criminal hideouts in Itire Mushin local government of the state.

Residents of Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, following an outbreak of viral epidemic known as Monkey Pox in the state, with report that 10 persons are already infected.Authorities in the state were said to be tracking 49 persons alleged to have come in contact with the infected persons.



The victims, according to sources, have been quarantined in an isolation centre created at the Niger Delta University Hospital, NDUTH, Okolobiri, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.The isolation centre was reportedly created by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, and the epidemiological team of the state’s Ministry of HealthHealth.

A second Republic lawmaker, Junaid Muhammed, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari’s October 1 speech.

Muhammed said the speech was “not realistic,” adding that some of the claims made by Buhari with regards to his policies were not true.


The Northern elder noted that if Buhari was articulate, the speech would have been an “avenue to mobilise and regain the confidence of the people.”
