Former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road safety Commission and one time Governorship candidate of the United People’s Party in the 2017 gubernatorial race in Anambra state Osita Chidoka has returned to his first love the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

A statement from the Special Assistant to the PDP National Youth Leader, Okah Ewah Edede revealed on Friday

The process to formally return to the PDP was kick started on Friday when Chidoka was received back under the umbrella by the PDP Deputy National Chairman (North) Sen. Babayo Garba Gamawa.

Present at the occasion which held in the Obosi Country home of the former Gubernatorial candidate were the PDP National Youth Leader Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-OKoye and other members of the National Working Committee, NWC.

Earlier, the PDP National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus led a delegation to the Obosi home of Chidoka to formally woo him back to the fold.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the conflicting statements from the Police on the return of the last Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu, as another clear indication that “confusion reigns under President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.”

The governor said it was embarrassing that the IGP could come on national television to “deceive Nigerians” by giving information that he was not sure of.



Fayose was quoted in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka.

Fayose said, “If the IGP does not have correct information on activities of the Boko Haram insurgents at his fingertips, it goes to show the level of confusion that has taken over this their government and one can appreciate the position expressed by former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen. T. TY. Danjuma, that Nigerians should take total responsibility for the security of their own lives and properties because, as it is, a government that is confused even at the level of its security agencies cannot protect its citizens.

“What the IGP said was unambiguous. He said on Channels Television loud and clear that he was scheduled to travel to Dapchi but shelved the trip so as not to jeopardise the release of Leah Sharibu.

“So, where is the misunderstanding and misrepresentation of what the IGP said? How can Dapchi residents’ anxious wait for the safe return of the already released girls be the reason for the IGP to say that he learnt the remaining girl will be released on Saturday?

“The IGP’s categorical statement on Saturday, that Sharibu was going to be released and the recant the following day was a further vindication of the United States government’s (assertion) that animosity between Nigeria’s security agencies and their unwillingness to share intelligence were hampering efforts at effectively combating the Boko Haram insurgency.”

The Senate Minority Leader, Mr Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, tagged Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State a bad representation for the argument of inclusion of young people in leadership positions in Nigeria.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom state said this while contributing to a motion raised by Senator Dino Melaye at the plenary of the Senate that the Bello has assented to a law that will lead to the creation of an organization that will operate like ‘state police’.

Akpabio said, “Quite, unfortunately, it is Kogi again. Here we are at the Senate trying to make laws to enable youth to go for elections to be voted for and we are seeing a very youthful governor who is giving the impression that we, elders, should continue to recycle ourselves. But I do know that the youth of Nigeria are ready.


“Having been a governor before, we were very circumspect about arming militants or arming youth because at the end of the day, even after you’ve left office, it will be difficult for you to retrieve that weapon.

“To hear that there is a law at all mentioning people to carry light weapons in a state is not only condemnable but must be looked into because Nigeria has been struggling with the proliferation of arms. What is happening is almost like legalizing illegality.”

Less than a day after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Rex Tillerson has been fired as the U.S. Secretary of State.

President Donald Trump fired Mr. Tillerson on Tuesday.

Mr. Tillerson was in Nigeria as part of his first official visit to Africa.

During the visit, he spoke about the U.S. assistance to Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram and the possibility of Nigerian securing loans from the U.S.

Mr. Tillerson is to be replaced by CIA Director, Mike Pompeo.

The House of Representatives has unanimously passed a vote of no confidence in the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and the Minister of State, Mr. Abubakar Bawa-Bwari.

Both ministers shunned a sectoral debate on the steel sector scheduled today to find solutions to the troubled Ajaokuta Steel Plant.
The motion on no confidence vote was moved by the Leader of the House, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.
