Awwh...yummy. Feel like having some now. Keep it up. |
Op, i can only imagine your pain and that of your wife. I have a close friend who had to endure this for over 3 years until she finally visited the states. It was discovered that her thyroid glands had issues and was the reason behind the frequent miscarriages. Really pathetic that non of the hospitals she visited here in naija could think out of the box. Well, good thing was she was placed on medication and it eventually resolved all. Today she has 2 kids. You can read up more on the effects of either hypo/hyper thyroidism and also have your wife's own checked out. In all, I pray it works out well for you sooner that you think. God bless! |
Please pray for my mum who is currently ill and being queried for cancer. And for myself too, for recovery from childbirth. Generally, please pray for my immediate family and also extended. It's been a trying time for us all and we need prayers to pull through the end of this year. |

Please send to me, someone @ nelotender@yahoo.com. Thanks. |
@enkoby, I understand perfectly where you are coming from. I really do not see anything wrong with employing the services of an adult to assist with caring for you LO in your absence, so far as you can trust them. Some people here share a different opinion, but that doesn't make it wrong. The use of crèches is not an option that everybody would want to explore, so why make it sound like people who have helps (live in or out) have the "madamism" syndrome. I think it is myopic to view things from just one point of view. let us not forget that some of these girls would have no source of livelihood if people did not employ them, so what is wrong with employing an adult to work for you while you pay her in exchange for her services, thereby improving her life. Isn't that what we do as well, just that ours seem to be in a formal environment. What we should be concerned about is not employing an under aged person and also the type of treatment given to these people. I am a strong advocate of "do unto others what you would want them to do unto you". Nobody should be made to feel guilty or less than a good wife/mother simply because you employed someone to assist with children et all. The truth is that we cant always be there for our children, so why not get a help if you need one (househelp or crèche)depending on what works for you. Fortunately, like someone said earlier, people living outside of Nigeria (western countries) may find it easier to handle without a help due to their support system..(atleast I know that most coys have flexible work hours etc), but not in Naija where you are mandated to work 8 hours in a day (work or no work) and if you are unlucky to live in a town like Lagos, you practically spend the rest of the day on the road. Moreso, naija employers are nothing to write home about (I know of some employers that wont give you few hours off work for antenatal visits or even attend to family needs). Sorry this is rather long, but I think it's high time we started seeing this from a real life perspective. |
Hmmmm....hardly ever comment here but this one caught my attention. It's kinda bad that people for no apparent reason decide to take things personal. I believe we are all adults here, hence should conduct ourselves as one. There's no point trying so hard to be heard by resorting to degrading comments, simply because two adults from different background and with different orientation do not agree on a particular matter. It wouldn't kill to make a point and let it go...as they say we can always agree to disagree. Op...all I can say is, do whatever you deem fit like some people here have advised (dialogue etc). It is little things like this which we tend to overlook that trickle down and become bigger things in future. Truth is, you never can know how far this kinda attitude goes and how its going affect important decisions in the near future, so be wise and do not think that "what is it to a name". A woman taking her husband's name did not start with and will not end with you...so if it is a big deal for you, nobody should make you feel bad about that. |
Before you kill the poster, the above stated was Yerima's response to Nigerians on the child marriage issue that broke out last week. Op...Its only important that you indicate who the author/writer of any article is at all times, so you don't leave the impression of "I said or I wrote", thereby creating room for people to rain abuses on you unnecessarily. |
Any update from those that wrote the test today. Pls let us know how it went down and what to expect. |

Awwwh...this so reminds me of when I was pregnant. Wasn't easy, but is worth every bit of the stress and discomforts. Op, like everyone here's said, ALWAYS ask your doctor before you take any medication. And this part is mostly not told, until the later on. Avoiding any situation that will cause you to fall as that may lead to cord prolapse which is a serious thingy. Hmmm...please drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and at tis early stage, ensure to take your multivitamins religiously, as you are likely to be experiencing loss of appetite. That being said, I can help you with supply diapers oo (huggies) please...LOL. |
And did i forget to mention that i got anothere interview invite text for yesterday........thats to further prove how unserious they ®. |
Hey people....dont even bother. Was dere last week friday, but left before they could start. Inshot, all man disappered before i drove off. I was so disaappointed and annoyed wen i got there and saw the setting, that i had 2 go and meet with the organizers. I told the guy that i got an invite for interview, while some others got for an apt test, he replied that they ® all same. I went further to ask what they were into, and his response was that we would know once the session began. At dat point, i just knew they had nothing to offer me, so i left. Anoda girl that came from Ibadan said she saw a GNLD nylon though. |

Hello house..just finished batch 1, Unilag.there r 50 questions for 50minutes, comprising of verbal (20), quantitative (20) and abstract reasonin. Verbal was comprehesion all thru wit option of "true, false and cannot say". If all questions r d same, den I'll advise all to focus on %problems and a of bit simple interest for quantitative, not forgetting to study abstract (10)questions. Gud Luck all........wish I was dis lucky 2 get a clue b4 hand. |
modele2...you can say that again. Since this story, I've been a bit skeptical about hiring a nanny for my baby on the way, which was the initial plan. though i hear there are a few well structured organization that run back ground checks on all these domestic staff, but i'm yet to confirm any of them... Honestly, i'll seriously like to get a contact for any of them, cos i just don't trust these creches, even though they seem like the best option for now. |
I was totally shocked to hear this from one of my neighbors recently and I felt I should share with you guys. She told me of how they hired a nanny to babysit their son while they were away at work. To cut the long story short, the lady had lived with them for six months, until one Saturday morning when she realized that the baby and nanny were no where to be found. She got a call three days later to inform her that the baby was in Togo and they were required to pay a ransom fee of N3M to recover their child. It actually took them three weeks to gather the money and pay in… but thankfully, the baby was recovered in one piece. Afterwards, they started an investigation and that was when they realized that they knew nothing about this lady…no contact address, no guarantor, and no previous work history….in short they absolutely hired a stranger to look after their child, When further investigation was done, they realized that she had done a similar thing with the couple she served before moving over to theirs. I felt really bad for them, but for a while, I thought of this and I told myself that this is just a TYPICAL case of “Medicine after death”…or what do you think? The verification should have been done as part of the hiring process to forestall issues like this, as against having to go through a trauma like this just to realize what you should have done earlier. It really hit me hard, as I know that most of us are guilty of this same crime…we pay money on a monthly basis to a total stranger, that we have no means of verifying his or her identity, no follow up address and guarantor for, to live in our houses or work in our office and have unrestricted or limited access to our children and most valued possessions. This is a serious matter and I urge all parents to give this a thought, so we don’t keep endangering the lives of our children |
