The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road is a major highway project in Nigeria that spans up to 700km, connecting the cities of Lagos and Calabar along the Atlantic coast. The road passes through several states, including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom, before terminating in Calabar, Cross River State.

The first phase covers a 47.47-kilometer dual carriageway with five lanes on each side and a train track in the middle.

The Mbah administration is expanding the State Capital by building an adjoining virgin city. He also flagged off construction of the greenfield project in Enugu today.

Construction giant, China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) won the contract for 17km dual carriage way and feeder roads in the new city.

According to the Governor, the new Enugu City sits on 10,000 hectares of land located off the Enugu-Abakaliki highway. It is carved out from four local governments of Enugu East District, namely Enugu East, Enugu North, Enugu South, and Nkanu West LGAs.

“We are here not only to witness the construction of a road, but we are also here to witness the construction of infrastructure,” the governor said.

Accordingly, the project will be managed in two phases, he said. The first phase covers 26 square kilometers land space to be divided into three districts to be named “Happy Island,” “Vitality Bay” and an “Innovation Park.”

“In this New City, we will have a dedicated power project, a central sewage system, and high speed internet.

“There is hardly anything you will find in any modern smart city that you will not find in this City,” he said.

The company’s deputy managing director, Henry Li, assured Mbah that CCCC will deliver a quality project on schedule and within budget.

Abia Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has announced plans to establish a seaport in the state.

The project which will be located in Owazza, Ụkwa East LGA Abia state will be flagged-off on 30th September 2023.

The governor made this announcement at the ongoing South-East Security Summit in Owerri, Imo state.

He also announced that the flag off of the seaport will be done together with the Abia industrial and innovation park, located on over 1,000 hectares of land. It would host multiple layers of businesses including modular refineries and petrochemical and fertiliser plants.

He also revealed several other chains of enterprises that would take advantage of the oil and gas deposits in Ukwa, nearness to Aba and Port Harcourt cities.

According to Otti, his government had already secured the support of a major stakeholder to build an innovation and incubation centre within the Park.

Edo Refinery (ERPC) is a 6000 barrels per day modular refinery located in Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Edo State; in the Southern Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. It is a 100% owned subsidiary of AIPCC Energy. This state of the art modular refinery is the first fully private independent refinery in Nigeria, that was set up as a solution to the Federal Government of Nigeria's goals to increase local refining and gas processing in Nigeria. The project is executed in two trains of 1,000BPSD; and 5,000BPSD, and has been commissioned and is fully operational. The refined products sold are Diesel, Naphtha and Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO). Work on Phase 2 (12,000 bpd) has already commenced, with full operations slated to start in March 2024.

Duport Refinery is the second modular refinery in the state, following closely behind the 6000bpd Edo Refinery constructed by AIPCC Energy Limited and Peiyang Chemical Equipment Company Limited.
