Pegging the exchange rate below the official rate will take us back to the multiple exchange rate regime that we complained about during the Buhari administration. Can we stabilize Damgote’s supply first and then use the forex savings to bring down the exchange rate generally?

If at all they want to peg or hedge the rate, it should be like a monthly thing and it shouldn’t be too far away from the market rate so as not to lead to abuse.

For me I expected to see a positive reflection of Dangote's refineries on the exchange but those who hoard money in dollars abroad, including the President might not be properly disposed to that. Corruption undermines every good effort here in Nigeria.

Having a personal bias against the club is different from insinuating that he's been paid to ruin Arsenal's games. Was he also in charge against Brighton? Did Trossard kick away the ball or not? What does the rules say about kicking the ball away to delay restarts? Answer those questions with an unbiased mind before flashing a beam light on the umpire.

They said a mancity player did the same thing and wasn't punished. If it is a rule, it should apply across board, else it is cheating, an injustice.

Oga, tell us which country in the world that does not import from other countries, for the purpose of this discussion.

And by the way, China is the largest importer of petrol, yet with many refineries.

Is China an oil producing nation?

By the way, tell us which country in the whole world were they do not import products from other countries.

How many countries in the world produce crude oil and import refined products? You people should know what you should be using for comparisons. It is dumb to think it is right for a country to export its crude oil and then go back and import refined products. Very dumb!

The same mumu who were deceived by the demons currently in power that there is no subsidy now but fuel at N1100 per litre. Imagine that Jonathan has been allowed to deregulate pms market as far back as 2012, fuel price wouldn't have gone this high. There is a price to pay for believing lies, a costly price and Nigerians are paying their own. Next time they will learn to separate truth from lies, reality from delusion.
I wish that Tam David West never die so that he can defend this pms price. Awon oniro, eleribu, foolish old men.

And to you, importers are not employers of labour?
Do you think that all importers simply bring in one or two containers or cars and then lift their shoulders high?

Do you not know that there are companies that import over 100 containers monthly, providing jobs and paying their taxes?

So for your mind, importation is better for the economy than production? You must be an importer.

Nooo sir,
Don't return us back to Egypt. Subsidy is gone for good. NNPC sold for N586, some other marketers sold at N850. Dangote came in at N1,000.

We're in a deregulated regime. Let Government not subsidise for any seller. Let buyer be free to patronize whichever seller meets their need (price or quality). Dangote also has a right to demand tax and duty waivers to be able to force his price below Importer's product.

That's the only way consumers can win.

The Dangote's pms, na Dangote dey sell am to marketers directly?

Please let a local industry die so that 300 million citizens can survive.

It's Dangote's right to ask for tax holidays, duty waivers, etc to be able to compete favourably but to suggest a ban of cheaper option that bothers on livelihood of 300 million people in the interest of one capitalist's profit is evil.

How many people do you imagine die daily because they can't afford drugs, food. How do indigent pupils continue school. Add the multiplier effect of Dangote's N1,000 fuel to their trouble.

Nigeria supported with equity, supported the same project with unprecedented concessionary dollar allocation, and must now support it with the blood of its citizens.

Let the project die already if it has to please.

It is not Dangote raising the price, it is the government removing subsidy. Govt can buy from Dangote and sell at subsidized rate. You are mixing things up. All along the price has been high, but for subsidy.

Dangote s antecedents in the cement sector show he cannot be trusted on the long run. He is à greedy businessman that wants total control of all critical sectors of the economy. This is not good for other businesses who wants to have a share of the market.

In every climate in the world, every capitalist wants to maximise his profit, it is the government, the regulatory bodies that hold him in check. Instead of blaming Dangote, blame your politicians. Don't forget that Dangote still have courage to set something up in Nigeria which I can tell still benefits the people. He should be encouraged for daring to enter the stormy ocean the politicians who steal your money abandoned to set up refineries abroad. Or are you not aware those who steal your money have refineries abroad from where they import fuel in? You prefer their method to Dangotes?

How much is it now?

Give me numbers. Not talk.

Your problem is that you like dealing with issues at peripheral rather than tackle the details. With your likes in Nigeria, the country will find it difficult to move on. Emotions and sentiments is what serious issues will be reduced to.
You know the price yourself, you don't need to ask me.

When we were importing fuel, how much was it?
How much is it now?

Diesel was being sold for N1200, at a time, it was N1440, it is something I buy everyday so I am sure of its pricing. Kerosene was sold for around the same price. These two should show you that all along pms ought to cost around the same price if not for the subsidy on it. What makes the price goes up is removal of subsidy and not Dangote. Yes, it can be argued that it is necessary that the pms market is deregulated if the local refining is to be encouraged. This has always being a known fact but Tinubu and his cronies beguiled you gullible Nigerians into rejecting that fact during Jonathan era when it could have been less painful because they wanted power at all cost not minding how it would hurt Nigerians. Now the same demons have ascended power and came back with the truth about subsidy punching it down the throats of those who once hailed them for deceiving them, everyone is crying.
You guys should praise and not demonise Dangite for having courage to open refinery, he has done something which it the long run will work to the advantage of all. You should rather demonise Tinubu and apc who oppress you but pretend to be your friend. They are the real enemies you have, not Dangote. Let the regulatory agents do what is right and stop corruption.

So, to you it is better to kill millions of Nigerians because of company?

Mind you, it is a company, or an industry. Just as we have the refiners, we also have the drillers and others. Many companies make up the industry. Get properly educated.
Instead of you to clamour for proper regulation, you are calling for the death of a company employing thousands. Those others importing, why can't they set up their own refineries and create competition plus employment.l? If Dangote refinery dies and importation continues, the price will still go up and people without jobs will end up dying the postponed death. I guess it is you that needs proper education and not me. Stop using emotion, but logic to argue.

Dangote should stop crying like a beech. He should man up and face the competition.

This was how he was calling other cements inferior when he launched his 3X cement. Eventually, it was a all a ruse to wipe out competitors.

He wants Mobil, Total other International oil companies to be subservient to him. The nonsense he did to Lafarge, let him try it with those ones and he will see the results.

If he's not careful, those ones will undercut him so bad that he will sell his refinery to those iron condemn boys.

So to you it is better to import and kill a local industry that employs thousands of Nigeria?

So now you’re beginning to counter and answer your own questions by yourself

The reason why they want very high prices is so that they can produce the easiest methods of refining and flood the market. Little value added, basically just like boiling water and catch what evaporates to get PMS

They’re not willing to do anything extra. So if Nigeria agrees to buy his PMS at 1000 naira he’ll as well drop all the other methods of producing several products. Even oil bunkers are producing PMS, go to port harcourt and see. So there’s nothing stoping him from producing more fertilizer and jet fuel. But in jet fuel for example the airline owners are also billionaires and they pushed back on his prices. But you don’t have a voice. So it’s easier to dump it on you.

If you will sell crude to me in naira and I can burn and evaporate almost all for PMS I’ll keep up that tight cycle too and make the maximum profit in the shortest time

Bros bring out money and open a refinery too. You seem to understand refinery business very well. Abeg do it quick and give Dangote a run for his money.

Since fuel price skyrocketed, fewer people have been buying fuel, but ask NNPCL, they are still paying subsidy for the same volume before the price went up.

Trump the Nigerians darling. That man talks and behaves like a child and to imagine most Nigerians support him cause of God factor they believe he represents.
No wonder we mostly make poor choices in governance here, easily swayed by stupid things, only go out and pick the loudest noise add our voices to it to make it louder as the truth...leaving no room for basic thinking.

A former president and a candidate that is so publicly racist, divisive, uncouth and lie with every breath.
Almost all the people close to him are publicly racist with no decorum. Imagine one recently saying the Whitehouse will start smelling like curry if the Indian Kamala is elected.
Trump can practically call black people apes and some Nigerians will still applaud him that he doesn't pretend, he says things the way it is and he represents God so they like him.

MAGA is just a rallying point for all the scums of the earth with nothing to do with making America great again. It is a tree of division, hatred etc that every bad person over there identify with and Trump is the root.

It is why they picked Buhari and then Tinubu as Presidents.

The marketers are complaining because they can cannot sell the millions of litres of diesel they have in stock at a lower price. It will be a disaster for them.

They are always happy when the price of petroleum products are increased so that they can quickly jack up the price of the product they already have and make quick dubious gains.

Oil marketers and fuel station operators are evil .

Don't mind them, when the price went up and they had stock bought at lower price they don't complain. Only when the case is reversed.
