millyj: Whenever I say am married to an igbo man, people ask when he is from,I tell them and they say no be Igbo na!!! Na we wa be across the Niger be Igbo. So am use to mentioning he is Igbo from Delta State before am been asked.even in my parish our assistant parish always say it's time for Thanksgiving, only the Igbo from across the Niger are to come out. That's quite terrible and ignorant of thos people. Please try to educate them that Igbo is Igbo, state is just a mere geographical location. Cheers |

erico2k2: bross I know all there is to know in the Uk, I have lived here 18 years, I have worked in the private sector and public sector, SO when I am talking Im talking from vast knowledge and expirience. The watch word is Plan well, have an Entry strategy and exit strategy, dont get carried away by shiny things then u r good to go.\\this society works, and with every working society people thrive and progresss if U r ready to get down and dirty! Sometimes most of you just come on here and talk about what u know next to nothing about, for example Insurance. What has that got to do with a person who just migrated to the Uk? what is he Insuring? Utility Bills £200? where did U get that figure from plz? there are rooms going in SE London for £450 all bills inclussive even Internet. Transport, £110 will get you amonthly pass from zone 1 to 3 for those taking the underground, but the Buses are way cheaper, now people ride bike to work or simply live near work . when we say earn 2k it was after tax not B4 tax hence I said a person earning 2K means 30£k plus per year Still on tax, It is a personal matter, we all have tax code, your circumstances determins your tax code, so its not a blanket % You are talking about Council Tax, let me Educate you.You only Pay council tax when you rent a whole House or Flat, When you rent a Room you do not pay council Tax in lump sum, it is inclussive in ur rent.as we speak there are self contains going for £600 in SE18 and SE28 all Bils inclussive ,water, gas, electric,Council tax,TV licence and Internet. you got any more explanations you want cleared Good afternoon sir, I'd be rounding up service soon, I'm a graduate of Anatomy. I have been reading up about migration to UK after NYSC but everything is just mumbled up. Thank God i saw your post here saying you are quite knowledgeable in this. I have questions please. For somebody low on funds, what is the best way (student/work visa or any other way) to enter the UK? Pls can you tell me if i have any chance of moving to the UK as a fresh Nigerian graduate with no work experience. I really appreciate your answer sir |

LarrySun: The events of the first Mmanwu I witnessed as a child would forever remain stamped on my consciousness. Among the thirteen masqueraders that entertained the crowd that hot afternoon, the acrobatic displays of the Agaba was nonpareil; even the other twelve seemed to be mere followers of Agaba. The crown of its head – like that of a peacock, or the tail of a thoroughbred – swung majestically as it danced and we cheered. Unlike the others that would occasionally take some few steps towards terror-stricken children and cause them to dash off like major Temple Run characters, the Agaba’s interest was to impress the crowd with its warrior-like prowess and magical manifestations.
The most amazing feat Agaba performed was its demonstration of the impossible; it crossed the river to the other side and back absent canoe. Agaba walked on water before our very eyes! This was something no other masquerader had ever done in the history of our village. The crowd roared with surprise and admiration as they clapped their hands. I remember the chief priests nodding proudly as if they were the ones who performed the miracle.
Agaba returned just as dry as it was before making the sensational display. As if that was not enough to scare the broad daylight out of us children – out of me particularly, something else we didn’t see coming sufficed. Just out of nowhere, fire caught Agaba’s clothing made chiefly of bamboo rafters. No one knew how it happened but later rumours revealed that one jealous masquerader from the other twelve had betrayed Agaba by setting fire on him through sorcery.
Agaba’s power was probably not strong enough to douse the fire; and so there before the hundreds of people watching, the masquerader pulled off its coat.
Behold, Agaba was the village’s Catholic priest! wat a story |

Boyembo: Copied from wikipedia...That Ijele originated from old Anambra State in Nigeria many centuries ago is not in doubt. According to UNESCO recent commentary on the Origin of Ijele Masquarade, It is believed that a dance group called Akunechenyi from Umuleri & Aguleri communities along the eastern tributaries of the River Niger in Anambra State gave rise to Ijele. ...Op please get your facts right... Akunechenyi is originally from Nando, all the Omambala towns later copied it before it somehow evolved into what everybody knows as Ijele now. Akunechenyi still comes out in Omambala towns till date |

Guide777: Islamic religion is very much incompatible with Igbo culture, that's why Islam have not been able to thrive in Igboland . You have few Igbo's who were coerced through economic blackmail and terrorism but in the end they will pay lipservlce to the faith. This kind of case is very eye opening because certain things about Igbo culture vis a vis Islamic variance has been unveiled. Igbo view death as an upstage where deceased either transform to ancestors or diminish to oblivion. Burial of an Igbo outside the ancestral homestead is therefore viewed as sign of wasted life of an efulefu. ofcourse, that's why the family had to take his body home asap. That's how families of the fake Igbo Alhajis up north do when they die. We all know Islam was just a means to an end |

They are tons of economic Igbo Muslims in the north, this Abdullahi Obinwa sounds like one of them. They feign Islam, build mosques, go to hajj all for business purposes. When they die, they bodies re still sent home to be buried in the Christian Igbo way. Seems hisbah has had enough of the fake Muslims |
