If it ends 1-0 for Cameroon, Cameroon will be ahead of Nigeria in terms of disciplinary points. Except Cameroon gets a red card, or 3 yellow cards. Because all other deciding factors are tied at this point.

phamarsenal:
R we still gonna qualify if cameroun win 1-0

The worst African team in this tourney would kill this Argentine side I'm seeing here. There is nothing Argentine in their play, bunch of clueless girls mtcheew

I didn't watch the match, but if the stats are anything to go by, then it seems we ought to have been spanked silly. 28% possession and 1 shot off-target throughout the entire encounter. Sounds to me that we were very fortunate. I know stats don't win games, but did we play well? Or maybe the stats are not telling the whole story?

Not watching the game. But just curious, why are we having a hard time scoring?

End up worse than his father, the great JJ? Gotta be kidding me! Or was that a typo?

OMANBALA1:
So, because he scored one or two goals we should fry water? As far as GWG is concerned Alexander Iwobi is a fraud. And if he continue to be unserious like his uncle he will end up worse.

And if he works very hard, performs outstandingly, reforms to the lad we all once admired, and succeeds to use the AFCON to revive his career, what's wrong with that?

Humility017:
keep defending a player who care less about his career
I see him as a player who seeks to use afcon revive his career...

if he was really serious...he would done wonders for Leicester city this immediate past season...
he lacks motivation and ambition
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by theblackjack76: 5:38pm On Jun 06, 2019
True. The point I was making though, was that even after the uninspiring AFCON performance of the team, these two were still selected to be part of the super eagles 31-man list. Shows that though a team as a whole may be awful, individual talents may still exist. Additionally, individual players who may not be outstanding during a competition may develop and improve with time. For example, I don't think everyone was a big fan of Ighalo in the 2009 U-20 World Cup.

Icon4s:
Yeah. But ironically those two may still not make the main squad. It can be some other players. That is how football is.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by theblackjack76: 5:18pm On Jun 06, 2019
Remember we already have Ikouwem Utin and Valentine Ozornwafor on Super Eagles stand-by list.

Icon4s:
The way peeps have been saying it as if the team is a total write off.

We are often too quick to forget or we fail to realize that only very few players progress from youth to senior teams. If 2-3 players from this 2019 Flying Eagles make it across we move on. 2 years time again we select another few and move on.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by theblackjack76: 8:25pm On Jun 03, 2019
Well, at least we still have two other competitions to look forward to this month - Super Falcons and Super Eagles! Maybe smiles will be restored to the faces on Nigerians. Even if these boys (men) win tonight, they don't inspire confidence, hope nor excitement. And I don't even see where the win will come from.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by theblackjack76: 7:55pm On Jun 03, 2019
Very pathetic that the analysis of a Nigerian football national team revolves around the most basic concepts of the game - passing and ball control! At this level we should be focusing of technique, strategies and tactics. How embarrassing! huh

Not exactly sure why some are optimistic of a victory over Senegal. Seems to me that Senegal is among the stronger teams in this competition. Is it because we historically perform well against African teams in international competitions (apart from Mali in Nigeria 1999)?

Looking at the second game, I guess you were right bro. Deficiencies in the team came to the fore glaringly. What a painful game to watch! The US took them to the cleaners in terms of performance. My hopes were low going into the tournament, and then there was heightened expectations after the first game. Those hopes have now plummeted. I should have trusted my instincts in the first place.
huh

yungmill:
Don't get me wrong bro, this is a good start but they often give away the ball cheaply and don't often release the pass on time and want to over do, against a properly well drilled team they will take some blows if they do not improve.

I think it's a team problem, not just Segun. Even though he didn't play much against Uganda, how many goals did Nigeria score? Ubani, Jabaar, Amoo et al have all been guilty of the same wastefulness.

Yeah. The Captain Tijani scaled through even though there were fears that he was in grade V and could miss out due to how close his plates are to complete fusion. Well time will tell if he makes it to the World cup.
Just glad they can focus and play their football without having to miss one or two players.
Yes, it's great news Samson made it through. But aren't the age requirements for the CAF U17 Nations Cup slightly different from the FIFA U17 World Cup? I mean age requirements in terms birth dates.

How confident are we in the current set of Golden Eaglets in Tanzania? In general, Manu Garba prides himself in a very attack-minded team. Seems to me that his philosophy is that as long as you can outscore your opponents, it's all good. So it's not uncommon to see high scoring results (both for and against) in games his team plays. This philosophy works for him most times, and his team is always very exciting to watch. However, I'm particularly concerned about this current set because he has lost quite a few of his starters. Three of them are first choice players in the defence line: goalkeeper, right full back and left full back. From the little information I gathered about the team build-up post-WAFU Zone B Tournament, it doesn't seem that they are as enterprising as the previous sets. Anybody has some moral-boosting, albeit realistic expectations?

Tribalist, these guys made the list on merit, and their tribes are evenly distributed. Essien is from Cross River /Akwa Ibom while Odey is from Ogoja in Cross River or Benue State.
He probably meant that this is a very old list. The team listed is not the one in Tanzania at the moment.
