The government takes 10% of the amount as death tax, whilst the lawyer will take anything from 10% to 15% depending on their fee. Be prepared to shell out 25% of the money and the rest belongs to your family.

1.a probable letter from the court.
2. Death certificate.
3. Next of kin account details written in formal letter to the bank.
4. I.D card of the next of kin.

Note,that this money is not paid at the counter but through transfer to the beneficiary.

Mr banker, what about bank’s policy that takes money paid after someone’s death? Banks won't give you the money paid into the account after someone’s death. You only get paid the money in the account before the death. That's where the 60% comes from.

The family is aware. If we don't find a way to get the money without the bank knowing. Then, we will go through the normal process. We already have some of the needed documents to start. It's just sad that the bank and the court will take the majority of the money.

Affidavit, birth certificate and death certificate (varies with bank). No need using USSD, if there is a network error and was debited... how do you want to report to the bank...

If he didn't activate USSD, chances of passing through that method is slim. If he did, you'll have a daily USSD withdrawal of about 20K.

A bad method will be funding your bet account and using it to withdraw to another account. (Sporty or msport bookie likely).

I already have the death certificate. So in case I can't find a way to get the money. I will proceed to court for LOA and also go to the population commission.

I m not sure he activated USSD. They even gave him ATM card but he didn't use it and it's expired. He is someone that's always preferred to bank the old ways.

Go to the bank, ask the customer representative how to do USSD transfer, then it yourself... unless you are trying to move somebody's cash out of his account without his knowledge.....

If you are doing this cos the deceased was your father, fine. If not, you are looking for who to help you with a fraudulent act...

About the bank, once they know he’s deceased, it's curtains. We can't let the bank know yet. We have to find a way to get the money first but if it won't be possible, then we will have to tell the bank he is deceased (but we will lose 60% to the bank and then an additional 10-15% to the court).
That's the bank and court getting more money than the deceased family.

Thanks for the concern but I wasn't going to give the acct details to anyone. I know the process of requesting the money from bank. We already have the death certificate, and will still need to get LOA too.
But it's the money that we will lose to the bank and court that's too much.

There's a proper channel of doing this, It involves getting a death certificate from the hospital, visit court and then bank. Though it's a bit stressful but be rest assured that you will surely get part of the money, because [court and Bank will also get their share of the money]

I am not desperate and I will NEVER give the account info to anyone.
I already have the death certificate. But it's just that we will lose over 60% of the money in the account to the bank and then another 10 - 15% to court or lawyer. That's way too much to lose. That's why I am doing this.
