Yes you can and should. The newspaper paper is to absorb the leaks so that the odour doesn't settle on fabrics or items in the house before it is being thrown away on your usual time of the day to dispose it. If that happens, you are not thinking of only disposal but also how to refresh the house with fragrance which sometimes takes time or changes the odour totally. The method is not to store trash but to keep your already freshened home fresh

I think it shouldn’t have gotten to that extent. She could have gotten a Nanny whom her husband can help supervise in her absence. They need funds to survive and being the only working parent, her business was very important. Having a domestic staff is not luxury but a necessity
