Nigerians have serious trust issues. I lost a supposed friend some years ago because of this. I gave him 25k sometime in 2015 to pay his childs fees and he refused to pay me back telling he is not the only person owing that others are owing him too. I was only able to squeeze out 15k from him and he vanished with the rest till date and never communicated again with me. Horrible lots.

Why are we so retrogressive in this country. Celebrating the export of raw materials only for us to import the finished product is nothing but outright folly. I remember the former Ghanaian president telling the the Swiss leader that they don't have any more Cocoa to export that they want to start processing their own cocoa for export but here we are celebrating rubbish.

People abuse me for calling for cost reflective tarrif. The fact is, if everyone on the grid was paying a cost reflective tarrif, enough profit would be made and enough investment would be added to fix power, and prevent abuses like this from happening.



The above is the typical response I get...which shows they know they cannot win against my argument that a company needs to make a profit to operate properly.

Firstly, he was issued an LOR not because he installed any solar generator. He probably refused to replace his old meter or he did a bypass and was caught. It has to be one of the two.

NEPA people are corrupt no doubt, but they ain't that stupid as to deliberately target him in that manner. People wey dey always fear to lose their job?

A friend of mine did something exactly like this; he was using Solar and still did bypass. He'll now be using that bypass to use electric cooker, AC and other heavy gadgets. He even advised me to do same but I refused. Around 3 months ago, NEPA hand touch am. Dude was fined around 250K for LOR. He nearly fainted.


When he was narrating the story to me, I couldn't hold back my laughter. He'll be like; "na serious matter you take dey laugh so o". It's that time the laughter will now increase.

You see this country, people too like awoof. How can somebody install Solar and still do bypass? The only fear of God that most Nigerians have is to begin God's name with a capital letter.

I don't know about the original posters case but the truth is all these distribution companies usually fleece their customers especially if you are not careful of their antics. They love over billing their customers. I remember some years back Eedc was discovered to have fleeced their estimated billing customers to the tune of almost 11 billion naira and they were asked to refund it by the NERC.
In fact all these companies in Nigeria just want to fleece their unsuspecting customers. Just the other day Airtel suddenly deducted 100 naira from my account and subscribed me to one useless service I don't even know about simply because the credit has been lying there untouched for sometime. I called them and they were apologizing but I said I don't need apology but a refund and they said it's non refundable. I told them if they don't return my money I will take up the matter with their regulator and they quickly refunded me after 24hrs.
You just have to be careful so you don't get fleeced by Nigerians these days.

Some people are so much OWNERSHIP kind of persons, any little thing you manage to give them for a while automatically becomes theirs, it goes beyond bad governance as I have known people in this categories for many years.

You borrow them your pen, car to use for a while, household items including match box, gas /gas cooker, pots etc and they never seem bothered to want to return it. But theirs can't leave them for a moment.

Learn to refuse anything you don't fully agree with that is bad.

If I notice you are that kind of person you described above I will eternally bounce that person. Unfortunately many people are like that these days. If you take from me willy nilly and I can't take from you then the relationship has no basis why it should exist.

There is something bothering me and even as I'm typing this there is no auta of happiness in me. My elder sister has made it an habit of giving out things to neighbors and sometimes it makes it hard for me especially when I am in need of that particular thing. They'll borrow big pot for a whole 2 weeks sometimes when we want to cook there'll be no big pot to use and when you go to their house to knock they'll say they are using it.

To the extent that if I collect that thing they'll come back at night to collect it back. This morning she was complaining that a neighbor wanted to carry pot and saw the onions we hid and took two. Now here's the most annoying part they'll mention the amount of things they want like four pure water,three onions,three Maggi even the gas doesn't last us to a month. And these are paying Ajo and doing pledges in various groups.

I know one that is doing Ajo of 50k to get 500k the time I was working in my former job and I was earning 45k she will say I should do her card now,or small data because I sell data but I don't do it anymore because no profit. I will tell her I don't have she's earning if not mistaken 200k and she's buying wigs and perfumes and skin care and hair care products but immediately they pay her she is broke but has money to spend on herself.

I don't want to sound rude but they're making me feel bad,and I don't want it to be like I'm getting frustrated or anything but it is not right.
I couldn't even boil water this morning because the kettle wasn't in our room. I have told her it's her fault because she has also been complaining about the fact that they don't knock our room and my cousin sister said I should leave her because there was a time she refused to give someone block from the fridge saying she cannot force it out and my sister started shouting that the should give the person.

Her friend who was inside the room with us angrily went to the fridge and forced it out to give to the man and said she is two sided and doesn't know what's doing her. Can you imagine that one of our neighbors went to the market bought onions and grinded everything while coming to borrow onions from us every day morning, afternoon and evening.

We're contributing to buy this things because where we stay food stuff are very expensive,I was even complaining to someone that when I wasn't paid salary it was hard for me to feed because if I go to someone for credit especially one lady at my house she'll frown face and this is someone I buy something from in a regular. Sometimes she'll say that thing is not available but she'll sell to someone else in my presence.

The one wey pain me pass na egg she collected the egg from me and said it's remaining only two and she wants to go and buy new one so she can't give me credit.

So you can see why I'm very angry with everything that's going on I don't want to fight anyone because I don't want to bring myself so low I don't care what they'll say but it is getting out of hand and inconvening me

Learn to draw a line. People especially Nigerians will continue to take advantage of you I you don't stop them. People who are overly too good usually end up with a red face as you will be surprised that those you have been helping ever since won't even lift a finger to do the same for you making you look like a fool. Try asking those people to borrow you the same thing they ask of you and see their reactions.
Nigerians are naturally terrible people.
