Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has commended Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, for resolving to honor late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, under whose regime Ebonyi State was created by naming the newly constructed Olympic Stadium after him. In a statement made available to media houses, Eze said the beautiful Centenary City Ring Road was also named after former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim who also served as Secretary to the Government of the federation during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, in appreciation to the roles he played in the development of the state.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/eze-commends-gov-umahi-for-honouring-abacha-anyim/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

There can be no telling the measure of pressure faced by Nigerians at a time as this. What is not in doubt is whatever the intent of the presidency in pursuing the redesign of some currencies, the discomfort Nigerians suffer now, if nothing is done about it might as well get to a level where the people can no longer bear the pains and inconveniences any more. At that stage, nothing is predictable. In spite of repeated denials by Godwin Emefiele, that the naira redesign is not political and not targeted at any politician, the reaction of the members of the National Assembly and governors, especially of the APC, suggest that, indeed, there may be more to it than meets the eye... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/naira-redesign-in-whose-interests-are-these-politicians-fighting/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

The currency redesign and the cash crisis it has engendered have exposed the treacherous nature of Nigeria’s ruling party(APC) and ruling elites. They have sought power and wealth as ends in themselves and not as means to better the society and lots of ordinary Nigerians. Their rallying points are the Nigerian governors who congregate under the amorphous and illegal body called the Nigeria governors forum (NGF). The NGF group is illegal and unconstitutional because they have no such right or mandate; nor is the forum a creation of any law. Some of the governors led by Nasir El Rufai have gone to the Supreme Court to stop the currency swap, a policy of the same ruling party. Talk of a house divided against itself.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/2023-nigerian-governors-and-treacherous-politics-of-naira-redesign/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Labour Party South West Zonal Coordinator, Mr Sola Ebiseni has said that Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai is wrong to have called the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi a Nollywood actor. Speaking on Arise News Interview monitored by The News Chronicle, the Labour Party chieftain noted that Peter Obi is a man of integrity and character who can be trusted with the leadership of Nigeria. Recall that the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has described the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as a Nollywood actor who stands no chance of winning the presidential race. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/el-rufai-wrong-to-call-peter-obi-a-nollywood-actor-lp-chieftain/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC |
An elder statement and senior lawyer, Robert Clarke has stated that the Supreme Court of Nigeria acted rightly for halting the deadline attached to the submission of the old naira notes. Speaking on Arise TV in an interview, monitored by The News Chronicle, the senior lawyer noted that he has also been a victim of the policy. The News Chronicle earlier reported that the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a suspension of the deadline for the swapping of old to new Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The interim injunction was given to restrain the Federal Government from suspending the acceptance of the old Naira notes on Friday, February 10, 2023, deadline. It could be recalled that Kaduna, Zamfara, and Kogi State on Monday instituted a suit against the Federal Government at the Supreme Court over the scarcity of old and new Naira notes due to the CBN naira redesign policy.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/naira-redesign-policy-supreme-court-acted-in-the-right-order-says-robert-clarke-san/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is a dour uncharismatic man who must have gotten the top banking job through political connection or patronage. Since the CBN came into being soon after our flag independence in 1960 no CBN Governor had been this clueless, this controversial. Emefiele inspires little or no confidence and no one in the banking sector considers him a stellar performer. Here is a man who as a technocrat wanted to be a wannabe politician by joining the crowded race for the APC primary election. He reportedly shelled out millions of Naira to be able to purchase the expression of interest form. Now, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu having ‘bought’ the ruling party’s ticket Emefiele and other emergency politicians (including the Senate President and the Vice-President) had come to terms with the fact that competing against a ruthless godfather and bullion van political crook takes a measure of extraordinary political manipulation.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/buhari-emefiele-and-the-bastardized-naira/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC |
To start with, election candidacy ought not to be an impromptu decision. For inspiration, we may have to turn to the Western civilization for succour. After all, our social structures and institutions are patterned after theirs. In the United Kingdom, as in other saner climes, young men and women who participate in school politics – and are interested in running governments – are provided with the ample chance to express themselves in an enabling environment; and they follow through till they graduate from these schools. It’s like a recruitment centre; and they eventually form the bulk of the grooming pool. It’s out of this pool that future leaders are chosen. Of course, that’s why it’s customary: when you see candidates aiming to become prime ministers in the UK, they are products of certain Ivy League schools. So, it’s like the tertiary institutions in the West actually helping to groom the leadership class from which society decides who runs the race. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/how-to-win-elections-in-nigeria/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Could it be that Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a “Prophet” with the unction of a seer ? Only in an unusual place like Nigeria will the head of the executive branch of government and public services for the Nigerian people deny being a public officer. In Nigeria, we hold elections for many public offices, including the president. There are two insects in Yoruba cosmology that are similar. But they are very distinct. One is oyin (Bee). The other is agbon (Wasp). Both equally sting in their unique ways. Oyin, for instance, is less aggressive and stings only when it is threatened or comes under immediate danger. It is an insect that is naturally defensive; it stings once. On the other hand, agbon is very aggressive, territorial, domineering and controls its space. It suffers no incursion and intrusion into its space. While oyin and agbon live in almost similar nests (with oyin’s own a bit concealed), agbon openly displays its abode, daring anyone to come near it. Now, when these two insects set out to fight, oyin stings and leaves marks of the attack on its victims.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/tinubu-and-the-ways-of-the-wasp/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC
