There's truly nothing wrong in him giving out of what he was gifted with, if it comes from him volitionally, without him being compelled or subtly coerced into doing it. Why the covetousness?! The OP presented the gift on his own volition, without anyone asking from him. So the question of OP being or not being like that, seems irrelevant.
