temitayoolu: Please read this first to understand the basic concepts. These applies to Berlin as I do not know about other states.
There is a bureaucracy here... You must have a Schufa, bank account, contract or payslips of three months before you can get a house.
Just read about the Anmeldung and most importantly get a house that allows you to do it. That way you can bypass the bureaucracy and have all your documents registered. If you have money use wunderflats. Else check the fb groups in the article.
https://marlonbernardes.github.io/awesome-berlin/en/ https://www.settle-in-berlin.com/find-a-flat-in-berlin-apartement/ https://www.sympat.me/renting-flat-berlin/ https://allaboutberlin.com/guides/find-a-flat-in-berlin Should have mentioned wunderflats was the recommended website and I already do have 3 places I’m looking at. I just wanted to confirm if others did it this way. €1050 per month is a lot . A schufa doesn’t sound hard to get . I already have a German bank account via TransferWise ( though N26 was recommended but I have had UK and a German account via TransferWise for a pretty long time now). I have a contract too but I hear house hunting is highly competitive. Thanks man. |

Hi, Quick question as per housing. I plan on getting a temporary apartment first ( as per the relocation agency's advice ). Then a permanent apartment.
How did you do yours? |

Sam8850: You're very luck bro.
I think I like this new system of appointment booking. The embassy will allocate more slots and closer dates I guess. Yeah. Lucky as hell I guess. I have been playing the game of refreshing the page and ruining my sleep cycle since mid December |

therealclown: So looks like they changed the process of the visa application. There is no "calendar" and/or "date-picker" now. So now, you are informed of the appointment date about one month after booking the appointment And you are advised to refrain from any form of inquiries till they email you back. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

Sam8850: The embassy gives a 90days duration for processing, I've only been waiting for 60days. So to be fair it's still within their speculated time but my eager mine is shouting and asking why it's taking this long considering I got a pre-approval a month before my interview date.
The best time of the day to check is midnight, at exactly 12:00 am you should enter the captcha code and click next, you'd see an appointment date however you will only get for March or even April right now. You may also take time during the day to check at exactly every hour as I've seen appointment by 3:00 pm before and you are most likely to see a closer date during the day. Okay thanks. My employer did “FedEx” me the federal employment agency thing though. Closing watching this |

Sam8850: Mehn Bro you have to really calm down and if you have a job here in Naija hold on to it until the day you get your visa you can just resign.
I am in your situation or should better say was in your situation, I needed to leave in a month but it took me 2 months before I got an appointment (mainly because I didn't know what time to check for appointment) then eventually went for my interview in November and till now I'm yet to get my visa. Once you go for your interview just pray and hope to be lucky as you may get your visa within 2 weeks or longer, so let your employers know it may take longer time. Thanks man. What is the average wait time for the visa ? 2 weeks or 6 weeks ? > mainly because I didn't know what time to check for appointment What time do you recommend? I just check it like once an hour ( maybe every 2 hours). |

temitayoolu: My advice don't try accra except you are have residence there and except most of your documents are from accra. Else it would make it extremely delayed because there would be three country involved in this process now. Nigeria - Ghana - Germany I do have a place I can call home there ( my cousins have a house right in Kumasi). But I do understand your point. |

temitayoolu: The company would wait if you explain to them very well. Do they have an agency here in Germany managing your process ?
Do they know the expectation? Do they know it might take 3 - 6 months ? Make sure expectations are clear. Yeah, they do have an agency helping me with the relocation process I spoke to them already and it does look fine but the earlier I can get out of the country the better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am potentially looking at traveling to Accra to get this done. They seem to have appointments for February. |

temitayoolu: Lol baba Kam Dam.
Lots of people wait for three months to get a visa.
Takes a lot of time to get dates even if you have a million naira to pay it won't still get you dates.
Start searching every day and night. Best of luck. Lol baba, let me not calm down o. At this stage, it might be dependent on the company to wait or not. |

Man, I have a job already in Berlin. Resumption date is supposed to be on the 15th. Still no visa appointment.
This is crazy. I have the Federal Government agency thing and my signed work contract. Everything, Just an appointment.
It's crazy they say even slots in March are filled.
Stupid and dumb question, but Is there some kind of way to hasten the visa appointment process? I really have to leave the country before the end of the month or 2nd week of February latest. ( Booking a late flight is not an issue ). |
