Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State PDP governorship candidate in the last gubernatorial election, was arrested today by the Nigerian Police Force and taken into custody. He is to be arraigned in a competent court of law tomorrow, 7th May 2019.

Mr. Frank Mba, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force revealed in a statement saying,

"Senator Adeleke is currently in police custody. He was taken into custody in the evening of today 6th May 2019 in connection with ongoing criminal investigations touching on his person.

"Meanwhile, in the best tradition of natural justice and fair hearing, he has already been served with the relevant charge sheet containing his alleged offences in the presence of his Attorneys."

The DMW boss, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido took to his Twitter handle to mock Adegboyega Oyetola, the acting Osun State Governor.

The singer asked the governor in his tweet to vacate his seat saying, "Oyetola must go ... this sh*t is getting embarrassing and ridiculous!"

Davido went further and said unambiguously that the governor lost undoubtedly during the governorship election with his uncle, Ademola Adeleke.

"You lost your election, Sir! Accept God's will and vacate. Thank You!"

This made one of his fans who goes by the name Macfillan to fire back at him (Davido) and calling him moralless and a supporter of fraud.

In his reply, Macfillan said accusively, "You support fraud, you ain't got no moral high ground to talk about what's ridiculous or embarrassing. F*ck outta here."

Davido in his usual witty style of pushing his fans buttons replied, "Am I a yahoo boy?"

Moreover, the singer's fans didn't sit well with Macfillan reply and some took it upon themselves to mock him and called him names.

Orogun Festival is the time for Orogun people to go for cleansing and to offer prayers for the new native year.

The Chairman of the National Peace Committee, General Abdulsalam Abubakar, says the group has presented the grievances and observations of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in Saturday’s election, Atiku Abubakar, to the President.

Gen. Abubakar told journalists after the committee met with President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday that the meeting was basically to convey the fears of the PDP to the President, affirming that Mr. Atiku did not give conditions as being speculated.

“Mr. President has listened to us and also taken note of what we have told him.

On behalf of this country and all of us regardless, we need peace. This country is very important to all of us.

We are not talking of self-interest; we are talking of the interest of Nigeria,” said Gen Abubakar.

He described the PDP presidential candidate’s decision to approach the courts as the right thing to do.

"I keep saying, whenever there is violence, we are not going to see violence in Ikoyi, in the Villa and you will not find violence in the various government houses in this country.


“It is always the poor men that get to kill themselves and so on. So, please, yes, as much as we have grievances, l am glad that the PDP said they are going to court to challenge the process. l think this is the right way to go about it, and l hope and pray that we will maintain this.”

The meeting comes a day after the Committee met with the PDP Presidential candidate, in the company of other leaders of the party including the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, among others.

The National Peace Committee has been in the forefront of the campaign for peaceful elections in the country.

In the run up to the Presidential and National Assembly polls, the Committee got the presidential candidates to sign a Peace Accord, pledging to maintain the atmosphere peace and urge their supporters to abstain from violence.

According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Friday. He said,

“It is to make that statement clearly to everybody; all our members in all of these states that we don’t have an alliance with any other candidate and anybody that goes ahead to associate with any other candidate than the candidate of APC, the party will take action.”

The warning followed the suspension of the governors of Imo and Ogun States, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikule Amosun, over the allegation of anti-party activities.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party also suspended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Uguru Usani, and the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu.

While the committee recommended the expulsion of the suspended members, it queried Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, allegedly for the same offence.

Defending the action of the NWC, Issa-Onilu said those suspended have embarrassed the party by their action.

He also accused them of using the party’s resources to fund the campaigns of other candidates as against those of the APC in their respective states.


The APC spokesman recalled the drama that played when President Muhammadu Buhari took his re-election campaign to Ogun State in February.

He described the incident as ‘beyond the limit’, although he commended the President for asking supporters in the state to vote for the candidates of their choice.

“We should be thankful that we have someone like him as our president,” said Issa-Onilu. “President Muhammadu Buhari is a party man; he has demonstrated that continuously, all the time.”

He added, “He would hold the hand of our candidate at all our rallies and say this is our candidate, but I am also your President.

“You have a right to choose whomever you want, and I have a responsibility to guarantee you right; that’s what the President is doing and that’s what we have never had before – a president that rises above personal interest.”

After being declared the winner of the presidential election, President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that his second term in office will be tough.

President Buhari who was reelected as Nigeria’s president in the just concluded presidential and parliamentary election in the country said that Nigerians are very forgetful, especially with the fact that he spoke about his governments cardinal agenda to them during campaigns.

President Buhari made the statement when members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) paid him a congratulatory visit today.

Among those present at the meeting were the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, (SGF) Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and over 20 ministers.

According to him, “My last lap of four years, I think is going to be tough. People are very forgetful and that’s why during the campaign, I spoke about our cardinal agenda.”

JAMB has disclosed that the printing of 2019 JAMB Exam Slip would commence March 2nd, 2019; that is two weeks before the examination. The reprinted slips will bear candidates schedule for the examination: date, time and centre as well as other necessary information about the examination.

According to the board, from March 2nd, candidates will have their slips placed on their profiles. However candidates who are unable to access their slips through their portal can visit the board’s service portal,on www.jamb.org.ng to print the slip.

The board added that messages would as well be sent to candidates, informing them on when to reprint their e-slip. This processes will be all automated to keep candidates up-to-date with developments.

The date for the main examination remains March 16th – 23rd, 2019. Candidates are advised to ensure they are also adequately prepared for the exam.

The board also assured candidates that it is working to ensure that all registered candidates participate in the examination.
