Spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Wilson Uwujaren, has said that the arraignment of former Aviation minister and former Spokesperson of PDP's Presidential campaign in last year's election, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been slated for Thursday November 10th.

‎Fani-Kayode was re-arrested by EFCC operatives last Friday while emerging from a Federal High Court room in Lagos. He alongside former Minister of Finance, Nenandi Usman, one Danjuma Yusuf and a company, Joint Trust Dimension Nigeria Ltd‎, are facing a 17-count charge of unlawful retention, unlawful use and unlawful payment of about N4.9 billion, a charge they denied.

According to Uwujaren, Fani-Kayode has been served with court papers.

The All Progressives Congress, has confirmed Mr Nwachukwu Eze as the Acting Chairman of the party in Ebonyi State.

The News Agency Of Nigeria reports that a High Court sitting in Abakaliki on Sept.28, struck out the case brought before it by a factional Chairman of the party, Mr Ben Nwaboashi.

Nwaobashi had challenged his removal from office by the Eze-led faction and the court presided over by Justice John Igboji struck out the case for lack of merit, saying that the removal followed due process.

Nwaboashi and Eze had been laying claims to the chairmanship position of the party since January until the Sept.28 ruling, which was in Eze’s favour.

Chief Emma Enukwu, the APC South East Zonal Chairman, told NAN on Saturday that the zone had recognised Eze as the authentic chairman of the party in the state.

“This is in line with the report of the committee set up by the party to review the lingering leadership tussle that had engulfed the Ebonyi chapter of the party.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has alleged that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission is planning to re-arrest and detain him. He said this information was leaked to him by his sources within the anti-graft agency.

He said despite the fact that he had been granted bail by the court, the commission was planning to re-arrest him and detain him for a very long time.

“I have been reliably informed by my sources within the EFCC that they are planning to re-arrest and detain me for as long as possible once again even though I have been granted bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos.

“Fresh charges were filed against me by the EFCC at the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 7. The allegations border on a baseless allegation and false claim that I received N26million naira from the NSA’s office in 2014.

“These are politically-motivated charges and there is no truth in or substance to them whatsoever.”

He accused the EFCC of being a willing and able tool in the hands of those he described as hawks and hardliners in the Buhari administration, who he said might be acting on superior orders as well.

He said the commission was desperate to keep him out of circulation and off the streets, adding that he had been reliably informed of what the anti-graft agency was asked to do by the Presidency.

Apart from him, he said that the EFCC was also planning to arrest his wife and his eight- month old son just to hurt and spite him even though they had done nothing wrong.
