Growth hacking — don’t let the name scare you. It doesn’t require you to learn to code, absorb a new set of complex information, sanction illegal corporate practices, or wear a mask like guy fawkes. https://i0.wp.com/blog.vconnect.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/13.-Hacker-1-696x464.jpg Growth hacking is everywhere around you. Some of the things you already do to grow your business can be called growth hacking. Marketing and growth-hacking are designed to grow your business, but the difference comes in scale, size and impact. Growth Hacking Vs. Marketing Traditional marketing requires a big team and budget to explore tried-and-tested customer acquisition channels. Traditional marketing has a broad focus which, though valuable, is not necessary for a new small business. It’s why growth hacking is perfect for an SME without a significant marketing budget. So, what does it mean to growth hack your business and how can you do it? This guide will help you. Just stay with me. 1: You need to build a product / business people want.Growth hacking starts with the product. If people don’t want your product, then people won’t buy. It’s like the proverbial pig. You can put a lipstick on it, it’s still a pig. You can growth-hack a bad or irrelevant product till you’re blue in the face, but it won’t change the truth that it’s a bad product nobody wants. 2: Target only your core customersIf you managed to build a business that people want, the next hurdle is to figure out what sort of people you should be targeting with your growth hacking efforts. The growth of every business runs through predefined clusters of users – Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority and Laggards. This trend is the Everett Rogers theory of diffusion of innovations. At the beginning of your businesses, targeting “everyone” is almost as wasteful as boiling the Lagoon with a water heater. Don’t. For you to reach the majority of your users (the early majority and late majority), you need to get through the innovators and early adopters. Hence, focus on selling to the 15% first. Ebayray:If you are guilty of four, you are dumb sah. |
aaronson:Sounds like you pulled that right out of your natiform. |
babyfaceafrica:You are, right: you can use it as you like. Go ahead and use your "personal gift" to destroy the world. Good luck. |
‘Good luck.’Hey, most of the things you mentioned are what smart people say all the time. If you are not outrightly telling someone they are stupid, fat, ugly, incompetent (or any other number of derogatory qualifiers), then no one with rightly calibrated grey matter should be mad at you. In the final analysis. You are only responsible for what you say, not what other people hear. |
Acts dumb to really outsmart youI think anyone who does this is actually dumb. The purpose of being smart is not to 'outsmart' people. It's to be useful to the world. |
Did you know there are 16 million active Nigerians on Facebook? With many Nigerians turning social media to their second home, you have to plan on how to take your business to them. This means you need a well-structured social media strategy to achieve this. Here are five reasons why you should put in place a social media strategy for your small business: 1. Nigerians are becoming more social media conscious Improved mobile connectivity has increased on-the-go social activity in Nigeria. From catching up on a friends’ updates to sharing content and watching a video, social media is the place where Nigerians go to have fun, socialize, do business, learn new things etc. Having a social media strategy in place can help you focus on using relevant platforms to connect with existing and new customers where they are. 2. Purchasing decisions are influenced by social media With the growth of social media over the past few years, Nigerians are utilizing social channels to provide their feedback on products and brands. For you to be able to come up with a good social media strategy, you should know how influential social media channels are. There are differences between the role each social network plays in the purchase cycle. For example, Instagram is a great place for people to find visually pleasing contents in images and videos. Facebook is well suited to people looking to share content and find promotions. You might want to consider the pros and cons of social channels while putting together your strategy. A clear strategy will let you plan only to sell to people who are looking out for your products and services. 3. Your competitors will leverage on your lack of strategy A social media strategy should have a framework through which to plan, prioritise, execute, measure and optimise. This will lead to better results because the activity has a direction it’s aiming at. With no structured approach to communication and measurement, you risk wasting resource on undirected activity. Meanwhile, your competitors who understand how to strategize will be working smarter at engaging customers based on clear goals, objectives and targets so performance is being measured, rather than results reported. 4. There are key influencers on every social network Don’t underestimate the power of influencer recommendation. As much as 74% of consumers rely on social media to help them make a buying decision. Social media channels have influencers, from celebrities to users that command a high number of followers in their network. Some of your competitors are already having their marketing messages amplified by influencers, don’t be left out. You need to be innovative with your social marketing campaigns. Include in your social strategy how to get one or two social influencers that will lead you to the audience interested in your business and its products. What is business growth? Most people would describe a business that will grow as one that has a unique product or render distinguished services. They will go further by saying such business should offer a great customer service and have an influx of new and returning customers. That definition of business growth is fine, but if you consistently report the same numbers in profit every year, then your bigger vision of turning that small business into a bigger one is getting farther out of reach. This type of situation will only continue to sustain that business and prevent it from closing shop. But true growth won’t happen. Is your business growing? As fast as you expected? No? This article will analyse five things that might be stalling your business growth and proffer solutions to them. Find a comfortable seat and let’s dig in: 1. You stopped investing in yourself Your business is a reflection of the decisions you make. And your decisions are based on what you know. So, for your business to grow, you need to invest in yourself. Learning is critical, it’s one of the most powerful tools we have to transform and change our lives. 2. You’re starving your business of its marketing needs “If you build it… you may still need Google AdWords.” – Jennifer MesenbrinkA bad product needs divine intervention, but even a good product isn't an automatic ticket to massive sales. You need to sell it, still. A marketing strategy generates the required awareness about your product among customers. And when it comes to marketing, don’t pull punches on creativity. 3. You’re associating with the wrong people Did you know that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with? If we associate with people who inspire us, we feel inspired. If we associate with people who encourage us and motivate us to stretch, we grow. That’s why it pays to be selective regarding the people we associate with. For example, when you associate with people who are doing better than you are, the natural inclination is for you to rise to their level. 4. Your business lacks realistic goals All entrepreneurs start their companies with dreams of a long-term success, but unfortunately, these dreams are not always enough to sustain positive growth. A common problem that new business owners run into is a lack of planning and short-term goals. In order to experience continued progress and expansion, you need short-term as well as long-term ideas about how to achieve the success you desire. 5. People aren’t referring your business If people aren’t telling their friends about your business, you have to figure out why. It’s a serious problem Not only are you missing out on a regular supply of valuable leads, it’s possible your product is lacking key features. Conducting a customer survey may help you find out why. Furthermore, having honest conversations with those whose opinions you trust are often extremely useful too. Is your small business growing as expected? As a new business owner, hiring intelligently is major way to build your new company’s success. No matter the size, type, or location of your business, hiring the right talent plays a critical role in your business’ success. High performing employees can help you grow faster, run smoother, and have a direct impact on your bottom line. But hiring can be challenging. These tips can lead you in the right direction: 1. Make your company culture clear When you’re hiring, keep in mind that skills can be taught, but attitude, personality and passion can’t. It’s advisable you bring onboard someone who is less talented but fits your company’s culture perfectly than someone who is supremely talented but not a fit with your team. 2. Define the job role clearly When listing a job position, write out the day-to-day tasks, how the role fits into the overall company goals. Also include key information like benefits and any necessary skills (i.e. Excel or Photoshop). This will help potential applicants see that this is an important position for your company and that they will be making a valuable contribution. 3. Hire in the right place Figure out where the best candidates for your new business would be hanging out, whether virtually or physically. If you’re in the market for technical talent (e.g. a computer programmer), you can drop by at a venue where a periodic event for programmers is holding. For instance, the Starta’s Silicon DrinkUp or Radar by TechCabal. Pizza is splendid. I’m yet to meet a human being who doesn’t like pizza. (My grandma doesn’t count.) And it’s easy to see why. It’s a customizable meal, so it’s never boring. It also reduces the risk of oesophagal cancer! Imagine that. So, whether you’re having a mini get-together, marking an anniversary or saving time when feeding the family, pizza is an ideal option. You could even send a friend a box or two of the finest pizza on their birthday. If you live or work in Surulere, and you would like to get your pizza fix, here are a few places that you should check out. Domino’s Pizza 86, Bode Thomas Domino’s offers a broad range of pizzas including Chicken Tikka, BBQ Chicken, Margarita, Meatball and Pepperoni with all sorts of side servings. Pizzas are ready between 10 and 15 minutes, depending on the combination you’re going for. And the attendants at the counter are courteous which is an important point, especially for people like me. (Can’t stand being treated poorly and still be expected to dish out my hard earned cash). They are also active on social media, responding promptly to inquiries. You can also place an order via phone call. What’s more? They open on Sundays. Pizza House Food Court, Adeniran Ogunsanya Shopping Mall. I hear the Sweet, and Tangy Chicken pizza is AH-MAY-ZING! I think Tecno is having a mild identity - or if you like, positioning - crisis. For a long time, it was Tecno you bought when you can't afford a high-end Samsung or iPhone. But now, they seem to be pushing themselves into the flagship range of devices. The only problem is they are not producing flagship range of devices. Their Phantom (which I considered too expensive) was a flop. Moreover, it's difficult shaking off the 'phone-for-the-poor' brand off. My mother, for instance, will smack upside the head if I told I bought a Tecno phone for 50K. "Are they doing you from our village?" I think Infinix has taken their spot in that bottom of the pyramid. (Although, you should know that both Tecno and Infinix are under the same holding company). Their HOT Series has consistently thrown up surprises, the latest HOT 3 (check out the specs) is a real bargain for the money at N26,000 http://blog.vconnect.com/the-infinix-hot-3-is-here-buy-it-at-the-lowest-price/ I think I'll go for an Infinix any time. They also seem to make better hardware. Anyway. Are Tecno phones overpriced? A thousand times YES. |
