It is quite unfortunate that Nigerians are not seeing to this. The Ikwerres have lived with the Kalabaris, Okrikans, Ogonis and others. These people know who the Igbos are and who ikwerres are. They don't know them as Owerri man or Umuahia man. Once you mention you come from any of these mentioned places they call them Igbo. They know the boundary between them and the Ikwerres. Ikwerres joined with other minorities to fight for a separate state from the old east.
In 1963 ikwerre formed Ogbakor Ikwerre. This was before the civil war. In 1965 ikwerres had a declaration of self realisation that they are neither Ijaw, Ogoni nor Igbos but Ikwerres. It is today known as Rumuomasi Declaration. It is online.

Igbos have traveled all over the world and have come across people who speak similar language but different people. This could be found among the Ukraine and Poland. Also with Sweden and Denmark similarly with Finland and Norway. You can also see this with Malaysia and Indonesia. Spain and Portugal. In Nigeria here it is found even among the Yoruba and Itsekiri. Urhobo and Isoko. Igbos see these people as different people but won't accept the same phenomenon in their backyard. They want to be left alone but won't leave others alone. Americans left Britain, today America is more populated and powerful than Britain.

There are some villages in ala Yoruba that you will see second generation Ndigbo whose parents are farmers and be shocked.

I will Start by Asking the Ikwerre royalty with all due respect to tell us their History without prejudice, but with facts, and concrete Evidence to corroborate WHO THEY TRULY ARE and also I want ikwerres in this Forum to contribute to some of the issues I will raise.

If the royalties in ikwerre land can Swear with their gods or GOD or make an advert in the newspapers or in any social media, of their true identity, maybe it will put to rest this saga of who they truly are.
I say this because most royalties are the custodian of their cultures, traditions, histories, the British monarchy is almost a thousand years old, they have records of all their kings from willam the conqueror in 1066a.d to King Charles 2024 presently. Likewise the bini kingdom has records of their empire with proves.

This Assertion that they are from BINI,or are EDO in origin can confuse any sane man, because I have not seen anyl link or connection between the binis or ikwerres , because I lived in Benin city for 4years during my university undergraduate years and I grew up in port harcourt in my early years as a child because my mother is from river state, she is kalabari precisely.

Their maybe some links which am ignorant of, please I want to be educated on this subject, am not here to insult the sensibilities of any tribe, I just want to know history, am really curious about this, but an oath by these royalties in ikwerre land before any explanation, will go a long way in solving these issue.once and for all.

Let evidence be given with facts.

QUESTIONS

1). When the binis speak do the ikwerres understand.
2). Has their been any Archeological find that connect them with bini people?
3). What was the former name of port harcourt
4).let them explain the migratory pattern of their ancestors from bini to their present location.?
4) Did they meet any body when they arrived ?
5) Is their any word in ikwerre similar to bini language ?
6) let them show us any relics or artifacts in their palaces similar to that of the binis ?
7) When they settled in their present location, did they have OBA , or did the Igbo people force them to bear EZE
Did only the men migrate, ? Since they claim igbos women influence their culture and traditions
9) why did they not give their villages bini names
10) Has any oba of bini corroborated their stories

Please let this questions be answered without mischief, let the ikwerres tell the whole world about their identity

As an Igbo man born after the civil war, I will appreciate it if the identity of the ikwerres are put to rest, let them choose whom they want
to be, but let it be convincing,
Me personally don’t really care whom they want to be, what I really want to know is their origin but with FACTS
