President Goodluck Jonathan addressed the United Nations General Assembly a few years ago and told World Leaders "Terrorism is a global problem (not just a Nigerian One) that the whole world MUST stand up united against rather than play politics with it or mock those currently dealing with it" (my emphasis) What did the Nigerian Intelligentsia do? They largely mocked him and called him "weak and clueless" - today, those Nigerians shamelessly and hypocritically "claim Solidarity with France" while they largely continue to pretend as though "they don't know 20,000 of their own Citizens have been killed by Islamic Terrorists in the course of the last 5 years" while playing the "negative politics" of "GEJ is to be blamed for this; no serious nation would have allowed such madness on their own soil under a serious leader!" Today, GEJ is no longer President - largely blackmailed out of Office by the people that became ever-willing partners to Boko Haram - 'praising them' as they killed Nigerians and morally elevating their demonic ways over the sovereignty of the Nigerian State and the institution of the Presidency; today, those same people are "seeking support for the same Presidency versus Boko Haram." If you belong to these groups I've listed above, you should ask GOD to forgive your sins as you head to church in the morning! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10203855131177383&id=1793637229&refid=7&_ft_=qid.6217425874871078081%3Amf_story_key.-5528068604190065410

A Professor of International Law and Jurisprudence, Professor Akin Oyebode on Wednesday gave his opinion about the choices of Ministers and portfolios given to them by President Muhammadu Buhari in an interview on Channels Television. He says the list of Ministers looks like a ‘mix bag’. “You have some very brilliant and interesting people, with tremendous antecedents and some a little bit less so. I have a feeling that we have a bitter-sweet experience with the ministers that have just been appointed, especially in relation to the portfolios assigned,” Professor Oyebode said. On the reduced number of ministries, he said that the government had taken the decision as a deliberate attempt to save funds. “Enforcing The Slimming Diet” According to him, the decision was in line with the manifesto of the ruling All Progressives Congress during the campaigns that brought President Buhari in. “The focus of the government is diversification of the economy so that we will not continue to rely on petroleum products. So, we have to look into other areas like solid minerals and agriculture. “I suppose that these are the things that informed the President in streamlining and enforcing the slimming diet on the Nigerian bureaucracy,” he said. The Professor of Law said that the choice of Mr Babatunde Fashola, was not a wrong one, as he [Fashola] had “in the last eight years handled things that are involved in the type of responsibilities that Buhari has trust unto him”. “When you put somebody in charge of Power, Housing and Works, that is a mega ministry. Fashola did a lot in Lagos State in terms of transformation and I think President Buhari wants to exploit his antecedents and track records as a miracle worker. I think it is a challenge that Fashola will rise up to, Professor Oyebode explained. “Tail Wagging The Dog” On the choice of the Minister of Education and the Minister of State for Education, he said it was a tragedy, insisting that a professor, who had ran, a university should not be a sidekick to an accountant turned communist. “It can only happen in a country like this,” he said, further insisting that Tony Anwuka deserved more than being a Minister of State for Education. President Buhari had named Mr Adamu Adamu the Minister of Education and Mr Anwuka the Minister of States for Education. But Professor Oyebode was of the opinion that Mr Adamu had no experience in the education sector. “The core competency is missing from Adamu Adamu and that is why I call it a case of the tail wagging the dog.” On the choice of the Minister of Finance, Professor Oyebode was pessimistic that Kemi Adeosun, who was made the Minister of Finance, could handle the Nigerian economy. He insisted that experts in the field could have been a better choice and envisaged a review of the cabinet, which he said was not far-fetched. http://leaktimesng.com/appointment-of-adamu-adamu-as-minister-of-education-is-a-disaster-prof-oyebode/ |

?Dino Melaye, a senator representing Kogi west, on Tuesday, raised the alarm over possible corruption in the management of the treasury single account (TSA). ? TheCable quotes Melaye to have said some “financial scavengers and economic cankerworms” ?were trying to sabotage the anti- corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari by mismanaging the TSA. He alleged that a firm, ‘Remitter’, hired to manage the TSA, was making N25 billion in one day in mopping up? about N2.5 trillion on the loose. Melaye asked the senate to give him an opportunity to present a motion on the matter on Wednesday. Senate president Bukola Saraki put the request to a voice vote, to which the “ayes” had it.? In July, Buhari had directed that all revenue due to the federal government or any of its agencies be paid into the treasury single account (TSA) or designated accounts maintained and operated in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). ?A circular issued to all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) by the former head of the civil service of the federation, Danladi Kifasi had urged the MDAs to ensure strict compliance with the directive to avoid sanctions.? http://newswirengr.com/2015/11/11/under-buhari-n25-billion-being-stolen-daily-in-the-name-of-tsa-dino-melaye/?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

The National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Alhaji Abdulsam Abdulkadir, has said his party does not agree that Nigeria is presently broke as was claimed by President Muhammadu Buhari. He said based on the facts on ground and the value of resources available to Nigeria, the country cannot to be in such a dire economic situation as to justify it being broke. Speaking to THISDAY on Wednesday against the background of recent statement credited to President Buhari to the effect that Nigeria’s economy is in critical shape, Abdulkadir said the only way the president can convince Nigerians is to address the nation on the revenue earnings so far and how he has implemented the 2015 budget. “Firstly, I think President Buhari is being economical with the truth, considering the facts and the value of our resources. For him to say that the nation is broke, was he saying we have not been selling our crude oil as usual? Is he saying the Customs has not been generating revenues for the country? What of other agencies of government? Are they no longer generating funds for government?” the party leader asked. Abdulkadir said LP was amazed at the pronouncement of President Buhari who should know that the economy stands the risk of plummeting in the absence of clear economic policy direction and commitment to implementing such solutions by government. He said as far as his party is concerned, there has not been any single infrastructural project the present federal government has embarked on since its inception more than five months ago. According to, Nigeria is still selling its oil, while other revenue yielding agencies have continued to make returns to the coffers of government. “If all these resources are coming in, could the president tell the nation that since he came into office the one project that he has initiated. Let Buhari tell the nation how far he has implemented this year’s budget. “The president has been spending money without appropriation, so let him justify it and stop lamenting. He should have in place a concrete and appropriate solution if he thinks that the nation is broke. For those of us who have been observing the events in the country, we know that Nigeria is not broke. The problem is rather that of lack of direction, commitment, focus and lack of vision. But to say that the nation is broke is far from the truth. This is not acceptable to the LP. Nigeria is not broke,” he stated. On the view that the economy is being stifled because of the absence of an economic team to manage it, the party chairman said the situation was affecting every sector in the country. According to him, “Yes, it has to be. Every sphere of our endeavour is being affected. One thing is clear-the economy would go down because there is no provision for sustaining our infrastructure. “Also, part of what is adversely affecting our economy is the absence of the full compliments of the cabinet team. No leader can operate without having the right people surrounding him, who would advise him. There is no way such person can succeed. “Presently, President Buhari has no minister, no cabinet and there is no one to advise him appropriately. The technocrats cannot advise him because they are afraid of their jobs. The political appointees who would have advised the president have not been put in place. So, the earlier the president gives portfolios to his ministers, the better. And how can the president say not all the 36 ministers he submitted for Senate approval will be given portfolios? “The ministers should be given portfolios, as what the president needs to do is to block wastage after all how much is the salaries of the ministers compared to the wastage that is still going on. The issue is that there is no policy direction yet on how to arrest the economic downturn in the country, only what comes to President Buhari’s head is wheat he implements. “Our existing infrastructure is decaying by the day due lack of attention. For instance, all the geo-politically zones in the country suffering bad roads, most of the federal roads in places like the South-east, South-west and North Central are dilapidated. Since the inception of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration, there has not been any single infrastructural project it embarked on.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/nigeria-can-t-be-broke-let-buhari-justify-his-claim-says-labour-party/224735/#.Vjr5CDmEHoo.facebook

The Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday tacitly attacked president Muhammadu Buhari, over his campaign promises to Nigerians. “The ruling APC government must fulfill their campaign promise of paying unemployed Nigerians a sum of 5000 Naira monthly,” he said. Ekweramadu said that “construction industries in Nigeria are no longer working and this is an impending revolution in our hands.” The Senator representing Enugu East made this statement inside the Senate Chambers during moves to consider its third motion for the day: Urgent Need to curb the soaring rate of Unemployment in Nigeria. Senator Urhoghide (Edo South) says employment in Nigeria is a national problem and must be tackled as such. He urged the federal government to lift the ban on employment in its agencies and parastatals. Sen. Tejuoso (Ogun Central) tasks everyone to be realistic. He speaks about the looming unemployment from Govt., Oil & Telecoms Industries. Tejuoso further speaks about entrepreneurship, skill acquisition and providing incentives towards promoting youths in agriculture. http://leaktimesng.com/unemployed-nigerians-are-waiting-for-your-n5000-payment-ekweremadu-tells-buhari/ |
DrownedFish:bros why u dey finish our president like this na? |
What often worries me
is why would major
policies affecting
Nigeria be always
pronounced when the
president is out of the
country? The president
addressed the nation
on Independence Day,
almost saying nothing,
but chose to announce
issues affecting us
while out of the
country. Why the
loquacity abroad? Why
the taciturnity and
gynophobia at home?
In cabinet politics, there are
appointments considered insignificant.
Posting to such positions is akin to
sending appointees to political Siberia.
At the state level, I know you are not a
governor’s man when you are posted to
Ministry of Commerce or are made
Chairman of the Library Board or Public
Suggestion Box office.
In party politics, too, there are some
appointments considered less-important
for their impotence, useless for their
uselessness, effete for their effeteness.
Positions like Assistant Auditor, Assistant
PRO, etc. are considered less important,
“less lucrative”, while the ex-officio
appointments are worse than all.
While, in most cases, being an ex-officio
was by virtue of one’s previous role in
the party hierarchy, in some cases it is
done to give politicians a sense of
belonging.
What President Buhari is introducing
today is something similar to ex-officio
appointments in party politics. You can’t
have a minister without a duty and that
duty is what is called a portfolio. A
minister is a minister because he
ministers.
By the president’s pronouncement in far
away India, Nigeria’s should expect a
cabinet with three categories of
ministers: kitchen ministers (those very
close to Mr. President), portfolio
ministers (those assigned ministries) and
ex-officio ministers (those without any
duty).
What often worries me is why would
major policies affecting Nigeria be
always pronounced when the president
is out of the country? The president
addressed the nation on Independence
Day, almost saying nothing, but chose to
announce issues affecting us while out of
the country. Why the loquacity abroad?
Why the taciturnity and gynophobia at
home?
Why would Nigerians be made to snoop
thousands of miles away to find issues
affecting them told to a global audience?
Why would our policies be made in
foreign lands and imported to Nigeria?
I was bitter hearing the president
announce the date he would appoint
ministers while abroad. It irked me
when he disclosed the first portfolio he
assigned himself while on a overseas
trip. I was livid when the president
revealed, yet again outside Nigeria, that
some ministers may not be assigned
duties. Why don’t we deserve respect
from our leaders?
Nigerians merely eavesdropped when
President Buhari told the Washington
Post audience while in Washington on
June 20 that he would appoint ministers
in September. On September 29, while
attending a UN meeting in New York,
Nigerians only overheard Buhari telling
a foreign audience that he would be the
minister of petroleum resources. While
in India, Nigerians strained their ears –
some 7,500kms away – to hear the
president saying some ministers won’t
be “substantive” – whatever that means!
What is the problem with Africans?
Now let us stand down two made-in-
America pronouncements and take a
made-in-India policy, which seems
substandard. Since Buhari cautioned
against the importation of substandard
products from India, shouldn’t we
caution him against importing
substandard decisions to Nigeria?
Dear sir, if Niger
Republic could afford
32 ministers, Mali
could afford 37, I
wonder why Nigeria
can’t afford 36. The
cost of appointing
ministers is not what
Nigeria can’t bear. The
budget of a single
foreign trip by the
president to Europe
costs Nigeria more
than what a minister
will cost Nigeria, in
terms of statutory
earnings, in four years.
I still want to believe President Buhari
made, as usual, a Freudian slip when he
said some ministers would not have a
role to play.
“There used to be forty two ministers,”
the president said in India, “but I think
we can barely keep half of that now
because we cannot afford it.”
He continued: “Others may not be
substantive ministers but they will sit in
the cabinet because that is what the
constitution said and we can’t operate
outside the constitution.
“We are reducing the number of
ministries we can’t afford to pay,” the
president said.
Dear Mr. President, paying ministers is
not beyond our country’s reach.
Dear sir, if Niger Republic could afford
32 ministers, Mali could afford 37, I
wonder why Nigeria can’t afford 36. The
cost of appointing ministers is not what
Nigeria can’t bear. The budget of a single
foreign trip by the president to Europe
costs Nigeria more than what a minister
will cost Nigeria, in terms of statutory
earnings, in four years.
If you consider the five-Star hotel bills of
tens of people on the entourage, their
feeding, estacode, the running of the
presidential jet, the advance party, the
foreign service office spending, logistics,
etc, you will see sense in what I’m
saying.
There are 1001 ways of cutting costs, but
certainly refusal to allocate duties to
ministers is not one of them. Such
decisions rather reduce efficiency that
will cost Nigeria a lot. Buhari’s
importation of a substandard “policy”
will simply conduce inefficiency.
Applying this Indian made contraband
policy into the polity is, in polite tone,
faulty.

Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose has vowed to continue speaking the truth in interest Nigeria and its people, saying that “I am not one of those that will go underground for fear of political persecution.” Fayose stated this while reacting to the exclusive story in LEADERSHIP on Monday in which the senior special assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, warned him on the need to get his facts right on federal allocation. The governor, in a statement by his special assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, in Ado -Ekiti yesterday, said it was sad that the Presidency could be warning a Nigerian, who is heading one of the country’s federating units on what to say or what not to say. Olayinka also described the sthe presidency’s reaction as a demonstration of military dictatorship, claiming that the country’s economy was in serious recession. He said,“The president himself attested to this when he said that the country was broke and this has also been corroborated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) financial report, which indicated that the corporation incurred a total loss of N120.07 billion in the months of August and September. “JP Morgan has also removed Nigeria from its Emerging Market Bond Index, a move analysts have said would have far- reaching implications for the country’s dwindling economy as investors could move out their funds to competing countries, resulting in higher lending rates. “It is, therefore, a sad reminder of the military era that in a democracy, under a federation in which all federating units enjoy some degree of autonomy, the Presidency is warning a state governor on what to say or what not to say. “Top functionaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including state governors criticised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government of Dr Goodluck Jonathan, but the presidency did not go about warning them. “Certainly, these people working with the president need to be purged of Acquired Immune Military Dictatorship Syndrome (AIMDS), even as they must be told that Fayose won’t stop speaking his mind and exposing their hypocrisy in the overall interest of Nigeria and its people.” Speaking further, the governor’s aide said “Nigerians are desirous of the change promised by the APC-led federal government, but as it stands, there is no clear direction yet.” http://leadership.ng/news/471656/no-one-can-stop-me-from-speaking-the-truth-gov-fayose |
