PoliticsRe: Igbos Are Their Own Worst Enemies – Orji Uzor Kalu by timeboss: 8:38pm On Oct 31, 2016
Igboid:
What truth? Yorubaland has more looters than Igboland.
Infact, all parts of Nigeria has bigger looters than SE.
But that shouldn't have stopped us from stoning looters in our midst, we shouldn't be working with Nigerian standards.

If OUK was not allowed to stay in power, he wouldn't have looted and wouldn't be needing to paint Ndiigbo bad right now to curry favour from other naturally Igbophobic Nigerians and obtain some degree of pardon.

All this embarrassment OUK is bringing us on this thread could have been avoided if the needful was done.
It does not in anyway mean that OUK is more corrupt than Yoruba leaders, but we are not Yorubas, we are Ndiigbo and by that alone, should have different standard.
Why are you flogging a dead horse with your long & dull epistle of regrets. You do not talk when you have your mouth full. That's the problem of Ndigbo.

Igbos are their own worst enemies--OUK

https://i.imgur.com/piI8k8y.gif This thread is very funny. You've got two midgets haranguing about who's taller, due to 1inch difference in height. But how does that change the fact that they're both midgets? - that's all I want to know.

Igbos are their own worst enemies, just as Yorubas are their own worst enemies. I'll speak on the last 4 years (the period I started following Nigerian politics). At least, Igbos were able to hijack GEJ's government, thus creating loads of Igbo billionaires. Coupled with how they used nepotism to spread appointments. That's how you manipulate power and spread wealth. And while doing that, they were able to keep their states out of debts.

However, I don't think Yorubas achieved that under Tinubu and they definitely don't have the same luxury under this government. Albeit almost all Yoruba states, bar Lagos, are heavily indebted. And when you look at the real power structure in naij - both groups are mostly inconsequential in the scheme of things and those who own the real power structure can always substitute one for the other - to maintain dominance. Meaning: they're both dispensable. So, I don't understand the beef on this thread.

Anyway, most Yorubas I know aren't as dumb as the sycophants who populate this forum. And I hope majority of educated Yoruba folks in naij aren't this dumb. I don't know why you would waste ya time in clowning the next person that's in the same predicament that you're in, when you can expend ya time/energy on focusing on how you can better yourself. Especially based on how you lost out in the current administration to become a mere appendage, under one of the worst/most-inept leader to ever govern a country. SMH.
By your logic, wealth was distributed among few Igbos during the six years of Gej's. I'd rather advised you make comparison after six years of this administration in terms infrastructure. You can go sleep, wake up when it's six years & compare the outcomes.

Nwannem Let us stop deceiving ourselves. Let us tell ourselves the truth: we Igbos have a fundemental problem. Even beyond politics, we also have deep rooted social and ancestral problems too. We hate ourselves passionately, we discriminate: we still practise the Osu caste system. hate, bitterness, tribialism and clannishness thrive very much in Alaigbo. It is just as if we Igbos are cursed
rare breeds like you do not deserve the flaks & nukes fired at Igbos. As for those who clog against other tribes, they're in trouble.

Worried about me? Shows you have run out of ideas, so make it about me?

No need to broaden the discussion. Is the Nigerian Sovereign Wealth Fund a public institution? Yes or No? That is all there is to my contribution . Private institutions owning or not owning shares is not what makes a body a public institution. The Fund was set up by a very specific law in 2012 the NSIA with JP Morgan as Custodian. Rather than huff and puff educate yourself.
omo, why are you doing this to yourself bro?. Forget JP Morgan or whatever, anyone could be appointed to manage our reserves ffs. Established by an act of Parliament; can a private institution be established thus?. You be we-we, I for don lash some one from the other side. SWF is a public institution cos it was established by public law , managed & financed by public funds, subsequently subject to public scrutiny, supervision & review. It could also be dissolved by an act establishing it. Sleep on it.

State owned does not mean it is a public institution. The German Government is a majority shareholder in several companies DHL for example.
Sovereign wealth Funds are run to make money and their governance structure is very distinct from that of public instiKtutions. They ARE NOT public Institutions.
Now you're making me worried about you. We're talking about SWAuthority/board owned,
managed & financed by the FG. No need to reference abroad, we have large number of fund managers here running privately but this is FG's. You may want to tell me which other private investors has equity shares in the FG's SWF. I'll leave you to recover, you really need to.

You must be kidding right??. The SWA in question, is a state owned, management/board are appointed by FG for the purpose of managing public liquidity. Would the legislature have intervened in reviewing the cash payment of a privately owned company? what's their fiicking biz in that?. Pls, don't make me lose it on you.

Ikenga, my son, when you join politics, look up to the National Leader not any Regional Leader in all your affairs.

- Regional Leader does not have so much clout beyond his control.
- No doubt, a National Leader would co-opt others including other regions to help you win your race.
- A Regional Leader would expect something as kickback but National Leader would demand that you abide by the principles of the party.
- You would perform better in your position without any teleguide from the Regional Leader.
- You would always be (summoned) in Lagos and not your primary constituency most times.
- You would find beautiful things in Lagos and may not be able to make your constituency like Lagos due to external factors.

The issue is not whether it is 10 x in one day but whether they offer value. So does that kind of thing happen in the corporate world YES or NO. My response is a general one and not specific to the Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Fund. 1 million Naira a day x say 30 board members is $100 000 . and maybe they seat 10 X a year I don't know but one hears much bigger figures in the corporate world. It is for shareholders to determine what is in their best interests

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2013-05-30/board-director-pay-hits-record-251-000-for-250-hours
what are you trying say?. ffs we talking public institution, you talking corporate. That defeat the logic of your argument & undermine the purpose of discussion. I do not see anywhere in the article the companies are financed by public funds(tax payers). It is absolutely irrational to rationalize such a fraud against the public, they couldn't even provide vouchers to verify validity!

Mind you , they sat 4x a day, who wouldn't?. They'd be thrilled to sit 150x/month. How much do their bosses(president/VP) get sitting over NEC. Moreover, almost all the directors are business owners/ investors.
Let's talk if you could show me where public sector equivalent earn such astronomical.

I do not think it is excessive what is important is how the people were selected and what they bring to the table. If they are technocrats and can contribute to the growth of the fund then yes but if it is the usual sinecures for the boys they it is a problem. If people are sitting on the boar of a billion dollar fund they must be well paid but also competent and yes thoroughly scrutinized

Your leaders, including Saraki, know quite well that your conscience can be easily commercialized so far there is money in it, that is why you can roll drum in supports of corrupt people regardless of religion and tribe. I thank God so much because he did not make come from that side.
