Take a look at this, was it wrong that she was a judge and a prophet?

Judges 4:4
Yes she was a prophetess not a teacher. What do prophets and prophetesses do? They judge or decide situations by passing direct messages from God to the people.
They don't teach, they tell or foretell what God has said or instructed for certain situations to save or restore the people.

Even today, God allows women to prophesy in church under certain conditions. Prophesying is a different ministry from teaching or pastoring. Hope this helps.

1. In a country where you have less Christians, what if in a church of 10 people, one of them is a woman who knows more about scriptures than the remaining 9 who are men, and the men agreed that they want to learn from her, so she cannot teach them?

If you think she cannot teach them can you give a reasonable explanation for that?

Yes sir. She cannot teach them according to God's word and design. Can she guide them by expounding the scriptures to them? Yes she can. Priscilla and her husband did same to Apollos. And the Holy Spirit took over and turned Apollos into one of the greatest men of God in Paul's time that some misguided believers started trying to make a sect out of him.
Can she become their teacher/pastor? No sir. God is not an author of confusion. If there are men like that ready to learn the scriptures, God would readily grant them enough grace to fill up those leadership roles that he has ordained for the males who represent the head of mankind.

There is an order of things already which is typical of God, to assign positions to us differently. Even in the body of Christ, we are not all one member but many members. And all the members are equal, moreso members that seem insignificant are to be esteemed highly. Submission and quietness are highly priced qualities in this kingdom.

This passage by Paul too isn't just referring to husband-wife relationship though it includes it.
1 Timothy 2:11-14 New International Version (NIV)

A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Because, a reasonable explanation for her to teach them is that, the men should not remain in ignorance
They won't lol. Anyone who is hungry for these things never lacks understanding. God might choose the woman to open their eyes but he won't let the woman become their teacher or pastor. He cannot contradict himself.

2. You have heard of Deborah in the old testament, what was her role to the isrealites?
Yes I've heard of Deborah. Did her role contradict what I've stressed?

Insightful smiley though I still believe women shouldn't be leaders of men or exercise authirity over them because of how God has created both genders and assigned them natural offices even before Moses.

It's so clear from the scriptures that God has not called us to usurp authority over men. Can we prophesy in church? yes we can with our heads covered portraying submission to authority. Can we teach in church? yes we can but we are to teach younger or immature women. This is one passage that settled it for me.

Titus 2:4-8 "These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely"

Submission is not a demeaning thing in short its so glorious. Puts us in a position to receive so much grace. The one in the place of authority and the one in the place of submission are both equal in Christ. Both of God and unto God. Amen

Religion / Re: What It Means To Be Truly Humble As A Christian by TimiRume(f): 9:47am On Sep 08
True humility comes from Christ living in us. Only him is humble. The nature we inherited from the first Adam is totally self-centred and hence cannot produce true humility that is rid of fleshy glory.

But the gospel is that what we cannot do ourselves someone has done it and would demonstrate it in us. He is the righteous one. I am the sinner. He can only do right, I can only do wrong. He died for me, so that once in him, I can be dead too(by inheriting his death). By faith in this gospel i can say this, "Now that i'm dead in him, though it looks like I'm still alive, yet it's not me(how can it be me when I'm already dead) but he is the one by himself living in me." I'm now kind of being "animated" by a different life force that is not selfish like the first life force I had.

We are indeed new creatures in Christ Jesus.

Jeezuzpick:

Very correct!

People don't understand that the abrogation of the old testament is a call to greater things, not lesser.

If in the old covenant we were asked to give a tenth, in the new, we should give even more.

Luke 6:38, in the words of Jesus Himself:

"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again".

It has changed from "give 10% and some offerings" to "as you give, you will receive".

We have not been "set free" to go and "enjoy" our money as we like, but we have been invited to be good to others by giving, both to help the work. In the Church and to other people in need.

To this end, I submit, we are expected to give even more now than before.

The only difference is, the giving is not under the control of any man, pastor or otherwise.

No pastor may declare punishment on anyone because he or she did not give money to him or his "ministry". If indeed a person gives to God, He knows, and he will reward accordingly.
Amen brother. May God bring us back to this truth were we truly demomstrate the pure love of Christ, not by compulsion, but as we are led by his spirit.

What I believe this means is that the church is in dire need of spiritual help as these lies that have creeped in are sponsored by the enemy. May God grant us the grace and boldness to speak the truth always while we pray without ceasing for the church, that God may by our prayers open doors of freedom for the church which is his body.

Religion / How Do We Handle Atheism As A Church? by TimiRume(f): 9:48am On Sep 01
I hope one day God would give grace to a believer(s) to explain salient truths of life with Christ at the centre. One of which is that the consciousness of God has not been placed in our minds but in our instinct. The focus of the mind shifts to the soul majorly and the exercise of it only in times of wellness. Most atheists who are evangelists of their belief are stucked here--in their soul and why? Because they have not enough troubles that would shift their minds back to their instinct . They exercise only their souls. And when God wants to really have mercy on one of the atheists, he allows disturbing misfortunes and losses come his way to enable him fall back to his instinct. Once his mind is reverted back to his instinct by troubling circumstances, he immediately contemplates the possibility of God, because this is where God by wisdom has left the knowing of him.

The soul is a very great tool but it is not the originator of knowledge. It can be used for analysing, rationalising and gathering information. But when it comes to knowledge and judgement it is not the primary source.

I don't think God has given us sisters in Christ this ministry to teach the church with authority. So I'll stop where the measure of Christ in me has stopped. And pray that a brother somewhere would boldly teach these facts to the church from hence or someday.

May God raise wise builders to relay these truths to the church and the lost. Amen

Wrong!

Christ has already being preached and over preached but among the preachers and all can we say that they are good examples of Christ? No! They are as the people they preach to.

And that is just the meaning of sin and wrongdoing and lip service. The very people Christ condemned in Mathew 15:8

The real preaching is by being a true example of Christ likeness which means, whether you preach or not your family neighbours and community are the ones who call you a Christian because they will never find you doing are participating in any evil thing

Well I see your point. The commission given to the church still stands until Jesus comes whether people have preached him ignorantly or not. The ministry of evangalising is still in operation albeit the abuse of it. Its still real and we are still commanded to preach by word, the gospel. Else how can they believe without a preacher?

And as regarding preaching with our deeds, I agree with you. What we say has to match our behaviours else we would just be false ministers and pretenders.
Religion / Re: Why A Private Jet Is Necessary For General Overseers by TimiRume(f): 2:44pm On Aug 31
I believe we can use the fruits of God's grace, whether private jets or other forms of blessings as long as the purpose for which they are given are actualised, which is the preaching of Christ himself.

The problem comes in when there are too many expenditures, activities and programs with very little impact. I don't know if we realise our responsibility as the church, though the power is not of ourself, but we have a burden on us to disciple our members into the full knowledge and stature of Christ and to preach the gospel continuously to the lost. A lot of us seem to have lost sight of this vision and so what we churn out to the world are half baked christians or at best theologians who have no experience of the power of Christ in them.

Some unbelievers and even believers may be genuinely frustrated with the way the church appears to be operating and the powerlessness of so called professors.

But's what's our attitude towards these accusations and hard criticisms? I think we should see the permissive hand of God in these criticisms of the church and accept his chastisement instead of being quick to defend ourselves.

I believe until we have come to agree with God that Christ needs to be preached and allowed to live in us, God would continue to let the world knock the church. The world is in dire need of Christ but most of the church are more concerned about playing church and teaching every other thing but Christ, hence obstructing him.

There is nothing like giving God a tithe in the new covenant. The new covenant demands 100% of us and our all. Everything we have now is God's. No such thing as 10% in this church age.

That feeling when a nairalander dies, can't describe it. May my God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss and expose them to his mercy.

Every mortal should know that this world has been judged and everyone that has not escaped it through Christ is dying everyday not living. The reality before us is people are dying not living---in a state of dying not in a state of living. Only in Christ are we promised life and continuity of life. Only in Christ is found the state of living.

May God deliver us from temporary amnesia when it comes to this truth. And waste our time no more on earth in vanity.

Not really. They are God's people too according to the flesh. They started well through faith in God but fell apart due to unbelief. They are blind now but their blindness has resulted in the salvation of the gentiles. Gentiles started well but are now falling away from the faith for the jews to be engrafted back in the last times. It's a mystery that I don't clearly understand
