Three members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have instituted a lawsuit before a federal high court in Abuja, challenging the interim leadership of the party led by former Senate President David Mark.

On June 2, opposition politicians unveiled the ADC as the platform to rally votes against President Bola Tinubu in the next elections.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections; and Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, are at the forefront of the opposition campaign.

Ralph Nwosu, the former national chairman of the ADC, said the executives of the party under his leadership decided to resign and support the interim leadership.

The coalition appointed Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, ex-governor of Osun state, as interim national chairman and secretary, respectively.

Bolaji Abdullahi, a former minister of sports, was appointed as the party’s spokesperson.


However, in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1328/2025 and filed on July 4, the plaintiffs, Adeyemi Emmanuel, Ayodeji Victor Tolu, and Haruna Ismaila, are asking the court to determine the legality of the interim leadership of the ADC.

They averred that Nwosu lacks the right to convene either a national working committee (NWC) or national executive committee (NEC) meeting or any other since his tenure as national chairman has expired.

The plaintiffs also stated that interim executives “cannot and should not act” in a leadership capacity, noting that they were appointed by an illegal meeting organised by a former national chairman.

Among several reliefs sought, the plaintiffs are asking the court to declare the appointment of Mark, Aregbesola, and Abdullahi as “unconstitutional, unlawful, null, and void”.

They also prayed the court for an order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “from recognising the fourth, fifth, and sixth defendants as the interim national chairman, national secretary, and national publicity secretary of the first defendant (ADC).

The immediate past Imo State governor, His Excellency, The Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, has informed his teeming supporters and followers that he had moved to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Addressing the leaders of his grasstoots - based Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM) structure at his Civil Centre residence today, the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, said, "My party, your party, our party is now ADC. That is the way to go. That is the party for all of us".

He urged the RIM leaders to go to their chapters, wards, local areas and zones to build ADC as a trully grasstoots and people based political party.

According to him, "I urge you, as leaders of our Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM), to go home to your respective chapters, wards, LGAs and zones, and take this gospel to the grasstoots, to the people. We are people oriented. Our strength is the people, the masses. We alreday have representation in all the boots in the 305 wards in the state, and our structure across the 27 LGAs and three geo political zones are strong, viable and functional. Just go home and invigorate our RIM structure which is highly effective and superb".

Ihedioha, who earned the Omenkeahuruanya title in view of his hallmark and lauduable achievements during his soujourn in the House of Representatives, thanked the leaders as well as the followers for their support and patience while they waited for a new political platform.

"I must thank all of you here and those who are not here, for your steadfastness, support and patience. I commend the DG (director general) of our RIM structure for his administrative ingenuity. I appreciate all the state executive members of our structure, the zonal, LGA and ward leaders. You all have been wonderful. Equally I use the state women leader, Lady Ijeoma Domike in appteciating all our women. I also acknowledge our youths for their diligence and dedication. Together, we shall triumph", Ihedioha enthused.

The leaders left the scene elated and jouful as their principal's ADC announcement had dramatically and sensationally launched them into the main political orbit after their mass resignation from the PDP in April last year.

When APC was formed, Buhari, Atiku, Rochas Okorocha, Sam Nda-Isaiah and three other candidates contested for the Presidential ticket in 2014 and Buhari finally beat them all to clinch the ticket, but today, they are making it look like Buhari was made a consensus candidate, whereas it's not true, evil people.
Buhari won the primary because he had the backing of Tinubu who mobilized all the south west delegates and Buhari mobilized the northern delegates. Who can mobilize these for Obi or you think it is on a platter of gold? Can he out spend Atiku?


APC's Presidential flag bearer wasn't handpicked by consensus with the way they are crying all over the place that some of the members of the new coalition party are having Presidential ambition. It's normal. The Primaries will decide who would fly the ticket of the party. So you guys should quit the deceit.


The politicians that came together to form the coalition are all aware that it's one person that will fly the ticket, and it's most likely going to be Atiku Abubakar unless they decide later to zone it to South, then Peter Obi might clinch the ticket.

So make una leave the coalition alone, they will try their luck and popularity via a primary election

Oga I have watched the video, and as a Catholic I know the Vatican protocols, my friend is a Jesuit priest in Rome, during my wedding he got the Pope's papal blessing for me during Late Pope Francis's time.
